Σημαίνων δὲ ἐν ταὐτῷ καὶ περὶ τῶν κατὰ Σαβέλλιον αἱρετικῶν ὡς κατ αὐτὸν ἐπιπολαζόντων ταῦτά φησι περὶ γὰρ τοῦ νῦν κινηθέντος έν τῇ Πτολεμαίδι τῆς Πενταπόλεως δόγματος, ὄντος ἀσεβοῦς καὶ βλασφημίαν πολλὴν ἔχοντος περὶ τοῦ παντοκράτορος θεοῦ, πατρὸς τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ἀπιστίαν τε πολλὴν περὶ τοῦ μονογενοῦς παιδὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ πρωτοτόκου πάσης κτίσεως, τοῦ ἐνανθρωπήσαντος λόγου, ἀναισθησίαν δὲ τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος, ἐλθόντων ἐκατέπωθεν πρὸς ἐμὲ καὶ προγραμμάτων καὶ τῶν διαλεξομένων ἀδελφῶν, ἐπέστειλά τινα ὡς ἐδυνήθην, παρασχόντος τοῦ θεοῦ, διδασκαλικώτερον ὑφηγούμενος, ὧν τὰ ἀντίγραφα ἔπεμψά σοι.

Indicating in the same letter also concerning the heretics who follow Sabellius, that they were rife in his day, he says this: “For concerning the doctrine now set in motion at Ptolemais in the Pentapolis—a doctrine impious and containing much blasphemy concerning the Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and much unbelief concerning His only-begotten Son, the firstborn of all creation, the Word who became man, and an insensibility toward the Holy Spirit—when there came to me from both sides both documents and the brethren ready to dispute, I wrote certain letters, as I was able, God granting it, expounding the matter in a more instructive manner; the copies of which I have sent to thee.”
