Therefore, gird up the loins of your minds and serve God in fear and truth, forsaking empty vain talk and the error of the many, believing in him who raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and gave him glory and a throne at his right hand—to whom all things in heaven and on earth were made subject, whom every breath serves, who is coming as judge of the living and the dead, whose blood God will require from those who disobey him.
But he who raised him from the dead will also raise us, if we do his will and walk in his commandments and love what he loved, abstaining from all unrighteousness, covetousness, love of money, evil-speaking, and false witness; not rendering evil for evil, or reviling for reviling, or blow for blow, or curse for curse;
but remembering what the Lord said when he taught: "Judge not, that you be not judged; forgive, and it shall be forgiven you; show mercy, that you may obtain mercy; with what measure you measure, it shall be measured back to you"; and: "Blessed are the poor and those persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of God."
