But the love of money is the beginning of all troubles. Knowing therefore that we brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out, let us arm ourselves with the weapons of righteousness, and let us first teach ourselves to walk in the commandment of the Lord;
then also to teach our wives to walk in the faith, love, and purity given to them, cherishing their own husbands in all truthfulness and loving all others equally in all chastity, and to train up their children in the instruction of the fear of God;
and the widows to be discreet concerning the faith of the Lord, interceding without ceasing on behalf of all, keeping far from all slander, evil-speaking, false witness, love of money, and every evil, knowing that they are an altar of God, and that everything is inspected for blemish, and that nothing escapes him—neither thoughts nor intentions nor any of the hidden things of the heart.
