25:1
In tribus placitum est spiritui meo, quæ sunt probata coram Deo et hominibus :
In three things I was beautified, And stood up beautiful before the Lord and men: The concord of kindred, and friendship of neighbors, And a woman and her husband that walk together in agreement.
有三樣使我得美，使我在主與人面前顯為佳美：弟兄和睦、鄰舍相愛、夫妻同心相處。
25:2
concordia fratrum, et amor proximorum, et vir et mulier bene sibi consentientes.
But three sorts of men my soul hates, And I am greatly offended at their life: A poor man that is haughty, and a rich man that is a liar, And an old man that is an adulterer lacking understanding.
有三種人是我心所憎惡的，我極厭惡他們的生活：驕傲的窮人、說謊的富人，以及缺乏見識而行姦淫的老人。
25:3
Tres species odivit anima mea, et aggravor valde animæ illorum :
In your youth you have not gathered, And how should you find in your old age?
你年幼時若沒有積蓄，年老時又怎能尋得呢？
25:4
pauperem superbum, divitem mendacem, senem fatuum et insensatum.
How beautiful a thing is judgement for gray hairs, And for elders to know counsel!
判斷的能力對白髮之人是何等的佳美，謀略對長者是何等的相宜！
25:5
Quæ in juventute tua non congregasti, quomodo in senectute tua invenies ?
How beautiful is the wisdom of old men, And thought and counsel to men that are in honor!
老人的智慧何等佳美，思慮與謀略對尊貴之人何等可貴！
25:6
Quam speciosum canitiei judicium, et presbyteris cognoscere consilium !
Much experience is the crown of old men; And their glorying is the fear of the Lord.
豐富的閱歷是老人的冠冕，敬畏主是他們的誇耀。
25:7
Quam speciosa veteranis sapientia, et gloriosus intellectus et consilium !
There be nine things that I have thought of, and in my heart counted happy; And the tenth I will utter with my tongue: A man that has joy of his children; A man that lives and looks upon the fall of his enemies:
有九樣事是我心中所思想、稱為有福的，第十樣我要親口說出：人因兒女得喜樂；人活著得見仇敵傾倒；
25:8
Corona senum multa peritia, et gloria illorum timor Dei.
Happy is he that dwells with a wife of understanding; And he that has not slipped with his tongue; And he that has not served a man that is unworthy of him:
與有見識的妻子同住、不曾因舌頭失足、不曾服事不配之人的，是有福的。
25:9
Novem insuspicabilia cordis magnificavi : et decimum dicam in lingua hominibus :
Happy is he that has found prudence; And he that discourseth in the ears of those who listen.
尋得明智的、向側耳而聽之人講論的，是有福的。
25:10
homo qui jucundatur in filiis, vivens et videns subversionem inimicorum suorum.
How great is he that has found wisdom! Yet is there none above him that fears the Lord.
尋得智慧的人何等偉大！然而沒有人能超越敬畏主的人。
25:11
Beatus qui habitat cum muliere sensata, et qui lingua sua non est lapsus, et qui non servivit indignis se.
The fear of the Lord passes all things: He that holds it, to whom shall he be likened?
敬畏主超越萬事，持守它的人，誰能與他相比呢？
25:12
Beatus qui invenit amicum verum, et qui enarrat justitiam auri audienti.
Blessed is he who finds a true friend, and who declares justice to an attentive ear.
尋得真朋友的人是有福的，向側耳而聽之人講述公義的人也是有福的。
25:13
Quam magnus qui invenit sapientiam et scientiam ! sed non est super timentem Dominum.
Give me any plague but the plague of the heart; And any wickedness but the wickedness of a woman;
任何傷痛，但願不是心傷；任何邪惡，但願不是婦人的邪惡。
25:14
Timor Dei super omnia se superposuit.
Any calamity, but a calamity from those who hate me; And any vengeance, but the vengeance of enemies.
任何災禍，但願不是出於恨我之人的災禍；任何報復，但願不是仇敵的報復。
25:15
Beatus homo cui donatum est habere timorem Dei : qui tenet illum, cui assimilabitur ?
There is no head above the head of a serpent; And there is no wrath above the wrath of an enemy.
沒有什麼頭比蛇頭更毒，也沒有什麼怒比仇敵的怒更烈。
25:16
Timor Dei initium dilectionis ejus : fidei autem initium agglutinandum est ei.
I will rather dwell with a lion and a dragon, Than keep house with a wicked woman.
我寧願與獅子和毒龍同住，也不願與惡毒的婦人同居。
25:17
Omnis plaga tristitia cordis est, et omnis malitia nequitia mulieris.
The wickedness of a woman changes her look, And darkens her countenance as a bear does.
婦人的惡毒使她的容貌改變，使她的臉色陰沉如熊。
25:18
Et omnem plagam, et non plagam videbit cordis :
Her husband will sit at meat among his neighbors, And when he hears it he sighs bitterly.
她的丈夫坐在鄰舍中間，聽見此事便不由得苦苦歎息。
25:19
et omnem nequitiam, et non nequitiam mulieris :
All malice is but little to the malice of a woman: Let the portion of a sinner fall on her.
一切邪惡比起婦人的邪惡都算微小，願罪人的報應臨到她。
25:20
et omnem obductum, et non obductum odientium :
As the going up a sandy way is to the feet of the aged, So is a wife full of words to a quiet man.
多言的妻子對安靜的丈夫，如同沙路對老人的腳。
25:21
et omnem vindictam, et non vindictam inimicorum.
Throw not yourself upon the beauty of a woman; And desire not a woman for her beauty.
不要拜倒在婦人的美貌之下，也不要因美色而貪戀她。
25:22
Non est caput nequius super caput colubri,
There is anger, and impudence, and great reproach, If a woman maintain her husband.
婦人若反過來供養丈夫，就有忿怒、無恥與極大的羞辱。
25:23
et non est ira super iram mulieris. Commorari leoni et draconi placebit, quam habitare cum muliere nequam.
A wicked woman is abasement of heart, And sadness of countenance, and a wounded heart: A woman that will not make her husband happy Is as hands that hang down, and palsied knees.
惡毒的婦人使人心境卑下、面容愁苦、內心受傷；不肯使丈夫得福的妻子，如同下垂的手與癱軟的膝。
25:24
Nequitia mulieris immutat faciem ejus : et obcæcat vultum suum tamquam ursus, et quasi saccum ostendit. In medio proximorum ejus
From a woman was the beginning of sin; And because of her we all die.
罪的起頭是由婦人而來，因她的緣故我們眾人都要死。
25:25
ingemuit vir ejus, et audiens suspiravit modicum.
Give not water an outlet; Neither to a wicked woman freedom of speech.
不要給水留出口，也不要給惡毒的婦人放縱言語的自由。
25:26
Brevis omnis malitia super malitiam mulieris : sors peccatorum cadat super illam.
If she go not as you would have her, Cut her off from your flesh.
她若不照你的意思而行，就把她從你身上割除。
