Qui facit misericordiam fœneratur proximo suo : et qui prævalet manu mandata servat .
He that shows mercy will lend to his neighbor; And he that strengthens him with his hand keeps the commandments.
施憐憫的人必借貸給鄰舍，伸手扶助人的便是遵守誡命。
29:2▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Fœnerare proximo tuo in tempore necessitatis illius : et iterum redde proximo in tempore suo .
Lend to your neighbor in time of his need; And pay you your neighbor again in due season.
在鄰舍有需要時借給他，到了時候也要償還鄰舍。
29:3▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Confirma verbum , et fideliter age cum illo : et in omni tempore invenies quod tibi necessarium est .
Confirm your word, and keep faith with him; And at all seasons you shall find what you need.
要堅守你的諾言，向他守信，這樣你隨時都能尋得你所需用的。

Multi quasi inventionem æstimaverunt fœnus , et præstiterunt molestiam his qui se adjuverunt .
Many have reckoned a loan as a windfall, And have given trouble to those that helped them.
許多人把借貸看作意外之財，使幫助他們的人受了煩擾。

Donec accipiant , osculantur manus dantis , et in promissionibus humiliant vocem suam :
Till he has received, he will kiss a man’s hands; And for his neighbor’s money he will speak submissly: And when payment is due, he will prolong the time, And return words of heaviness, and complain of the times.
未得著之前，他親吻人的手，為借鄰舍的錢而低聲下氣；及至償還之期，他卻拖延時日，回以怨懟之言，並推諉於時勢。

et in tempore redditionis postulabit tempus , et loquetur verba tædii et murmurationum , et tempus causabitur .
If he prevail, he shall hardly receive the half; And he will count it as a windfall: If not, he has deprived him of his money, And he has gotten him for an enemy without cause: He will pay him with cursings and railings; And for honor he will pay him disgrace.
他若有力償還，債主也僅能勉強收回一半，且要看作意外之財；他若無力，便奪去了債主的錢財，無故為自己樹立仇敵；他以咒詛辱罵相報，以羞辱代替本當的尊敬。

Si autem potuerit reddere , adversabitur : solidi vix reddet dimidium , et computabit illud quasi inventionem :
Many on account of men’s ill-dealing have turned away; They have feared to be defrauded for nothing.
許多人因人的惡待而退縮，惟恐無故被人騙取錢財。

sin autem , fraudabit illum pecunia sua , et possidebit illum inimicum gratis :
Howbeit with a man in poor estate be longsuffering; And let him not wait for your alms.
然而對窮苦的人，你仍要恆久忍耐，不要使他久候你的施捨。
29:9▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
et convitia et maledicta reddet illi , et pro honore et beneficio reddet illi contumeliam .
Help a poor man for the commandment’s sake; And according to his need send him not empty away.
要為誡命的緣故扶助貧窮人，按他的需要，不要使他空手回去。
29:10▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Multi non causa nequitiæ non fœnerati sunt , sed fraudari gratis timuerunt .
Lose your money for a brother and a friend; And let it not rust under the stone to be lost.
為弟兄朋友的緣故，不惜捨棄銀錢，不要讓它鏽蝕在石頭下以致失喪。

Verumtamen super humilem animo fortior esto , et pro eleemosyna non trahas illum .
Bestow your treasure according to the commandments of the Most High; And it shall profit you more than gold.
要照至高者的誡命安放你的財寶，它必使你獲益勝過金子。
29:12▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Propter mandatum assume pauperem , et propter inopiam ejus ne dimittas eum vacuum .
Shut up alms in your store-chambers; And it shall deliver you out of all affliction:
要把施捨積藏在你的庫房裡，它必救你脫離一切的災禍。
29:13▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Perde pecuniam propter fratrem et amicum tuum , et non abscondas illam sub lapide in perditionem .
It shall fight for you against your enemy Better than a mighty shield and a ponderous spear.
在仇敵面前，它必為你爭戰，勝過堅固的盾牌與沉重的長矛。

Pone thesaurum tuum in præceptis Altissimi , et proderit tibi magis quam aurum .
A good man will be surety for his neighbor; And he that has lost shame will fail him.
善人必為鄰舍作擔保，喪盡羞恥的人卻必撇棄他。
29:15▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Conclude eleemosynam in corde pauperis , et hæc pro te exorabit ab omni malo .
Forget not the good offices of your surety; For he has given his life for you.
不要忘記擔保人的恩惠，因為他為你捨了自己的性命。

Super scutum potentis
A sinner will overthrow the good estate of his surety;
罪人必敗壞擔保人的好處，

et super lanceam
And he that is of an unthankful mind will fail him that delivered him.
忘恩負義的人必撇棄那拯救他的人。
29:18▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
adversus inimicum tuum pugnabit .
Suretiship has undone many that were prospering, And shaken them as a wave of the sea: Mighty men has it driven from their homes; And they wandered among strange nations.
作擔保毀了許多本可亨通的人，將他們搖撼如海中的波浪；又把有勢力的人趕離家園，使他們流落異族之中。
29:19▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Vir bonus fidem facit pro proximo suo : et qui perdiderit confusionem derelinquet sibi .
A sinner that falls into suretiship, And undertakes contracts for work, shall fall into lawsuits.
陷入擔保、又貪攬工程的罪人，必落入訴訟之中。
29:20▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Gratiam fidejussoris ne obliviscaris : dedit enim pro te animam suam .
Help your neighbor according to your power, And take heed to yourself that you fall not to the same.
要照你的能力扶助鄰舍，也要留心自己，免得你也陷入其中。

Repromissorem fugit peccator et immundus .
The chief thing for life is water, and bread, And a garment, and a house to cover shame.
生活所必需的乃是水、餅、衣服，以及遮蔽羞恥的房屋。
29:22▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Bona repromissoris sibi ascribit peccator : et ingratus sensu derelinquet liberantem se .
Better is the life of a poor man under a shelter of logs, Than sumptuous fare in another man’s house.
窮人在自己簡陋遮蔽下的生活，勝過在別人家中享用的豐盛筵席。

Vir repromittit de proximo suo : et cum perdiderit reverentiam , derelinquetur ab eo .
With little or with much, be well satisfied.
無論所有的是少是多，都要知足，就不致聽見寄居的辱罵。
29:24▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Repromissio nequissima multos perdidit dirigentes , et commovit illos quasi fluctus maris .
It is a miserable life to go from house to house: And where you are a sojourner, you shall not dare to open your mouth.
從這家漂泊到那家是悲慘的生活；你在寄居之處，連口也不敢開。
29:25▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Viros potentes gyrans migrare fecit , et vagati sunt in gentibus alienis .
You shall entertain, and give to drink, and have no thanks: And besides this you shall hear bitter words.
你款待人、給人喝，卻得不到感謝；除此之外，還要聽見苦毒的話。
29:26▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Peccator transgrediens mandatum Domini incidet in promissionem nequam : et qui conatur multa agere incidet in judicium .
Come hither, you sojourner, furnish a table, And if you have anything in your hand, feed me with it.
主人說：『過來吧，寄居的，擺設筵席；你手中若有什麼，就拿來給我喫。』
29:27▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Recupera proximum secundum virtutem tuam , et attende tibi ne incidas .
Go forth, you sojourner, from the face of honor; My brother is come to be my guest; I have need of my house.
又說：『寄居的，從尊位前退下吧，我的弟兄來作我的客了，我需要用我的房屋。』
29:28▷ ⧉ ⤴︎
Initium vitæ hominis , aqua et panis , et vestimentum , et domus protegens turpitudinem .
These things are grievous to a man of understanding; The upbraiding of house-room, and the reproaching of the money-lender.
這些事使有見識的人深感為難：寄人籬下的責備，與債主的辱罵。
