2:1
Fili, accedens ad servitutem Dei sta in justitia et timore, et præpara animam tuam ad tentationem.
My son, if you come to serve the Lord, Prepare your soul for temptation.
我兒，你若前來事奉主，就當預備你的魂迎接試煉。
2:2
Deprime cor tuum, et sustine : inclina aurem tuam, et suscipe verba intellectus : et ne festines in tempore obductionis.
Set your heart aright, and constantly endure, And make not haste in time of calamity.
要端正你的心，堅忍不拔，在患難臨到之時不可慌張。
2:3
Sustine sustentationes Dei : conjungere Deo, et sustine, ut crescat in novissimo vita tua.
Cleave to him, and depart not, That you may be increased at your latter end.
要緊緊依附祂，總不離開，使你在結局時得以興盛。
2:4
Omne quod tibi applicitum fuerit accipe : et in dolore sustine, et in humilitate tua patientiam habe :
Accept whatever is brought upon you, And be longsuffering when you passest into humiliation.
凡臨到你身上的，都要領受；你陷入卑微之時，也要忍耐。
2:5
quoniam in igne probatur aurum et argentum, homines vero receptibiles in camino humiliationis.
For gold is tried in the fire, And acceptable men in the furnace of humiliation.
因為金子在火中受煉，蒙悅納的人在卑微的爐中受試。
2:6
Crede Deo, et recuperabit te : et dirige viam tuam, et spera in illum : serva timorem illius, et in illo veterasce.
Put your trust in him, and he will help you: Order your ways aright, and set your hope on him.
要信靠祂，祂必扶助你；要修直你的道路，把指望寄託在祂身上。
2:7
Metuentes Dominum, sustinete misericordiam ejus : et non deflectatis ab illo, ne cadatis.
You⌃ that fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; And turn not aside, lest you⌃ fall.
你們敬畏主的人，當等候祂的憐憫，不可偏離，免得跌倒。
2:8
Qui timetis Dominum, credite illi, et non evacuabitur merces vestra.
You⌃ that fear the Lord, put your trust in him; And your reward will not fail.
你們敬畏主的人，當信靠祂，你們的賞賜必不落空。
2:9
Qui timetis Dominum, sperate in illum, et in oblectationem veniet vobis misericordia.
You⌃ that fear the Lord, hope for good things, And for eternal gladness and mercy.
你們敬畏主的人，當盼望美福、永遠的歡欣與憐憫。
2:10
Qui timetis Dominum, diligite illum, et illuminabuntur corda vestra.
Look at the generations of old, and see: Who did ever put his trust in the Lord, and was ashamed? Or who did abide in his fear, and was forsaken? Or who did call upon him, and he despised him?
你們當細想古時的世代：有誰信靠主而蒙羞？有誰持守敬畏祂的心而被撇棄？有誰呼求祂而被祂藐視？
2:11
Respicite, filii, nationes hominum : et scitote quia nullus speravit in Domino et confusus est.
For the Lord is full of compassion and mercy; And he forgives sins, and saves in time of affliction.
因為主滿有憐恤與慈悲，赦免罪過，在患難之時施行拯救。
2:12
Quis enim permansit in mandatis ejus, et derelictus est ? aut quis invocavit eum, et despexit illum ?
Woe to fearful hearts, and to faint hands, And to the sinner that goes two ways!
那膽怯的心、發軟的手，以及腳踏兩路的罪人，有禍了！
2:13
Quoniam pius et misericors est Deus, et remittet in die tribulationis peccata, et protector est omnibus exquirentibus se in veritate.
Woe to the faint heart! for it believes not; Therefore will it not be defended.
那發軟的心有禍了！因為它不信，所以必不蒙護庇。
2:14
Væ duplici corde, et labiis scelestis, et manibus malefacientibus, et peccatori terram ingredienti duabus viis !
Woe to you that have lost your patience! And what will you⌃ do when the Lord shall visit you?
你們這失去忍耐的人，有禍了！主鑒察你們的時候，你們將要怎麼辦呢？
2:15
Væ dissolutis corde, qui non credunt Deo, et ideo non protegentur ab eo !
They that fear the Lord will not disobey his words; And those who love him will keep his ways.
敬畏主的人，必不違背祂的話；愛祂的人，必謹守祂的道。
2:16
Væ his qui perdiderunt sustinentiam, et qui dereliquerunt vias rectas, et diverterunt in vias pravas !
They that fear the Lord will seek his good pleasure; And those who love him will be filled with the law.
敬畏主的人，必尋求祂所喜悅的；愛祂的人，必飽得祂的律法。
2:17
Et quid facient cum inspicere cœperit Dominus ?
They that fear the Lord will prepare their hearts, And will humble their souls in his sight,
敬畏主的人，必預備自己的心，在祂面前謙卑己魂。
2:18
Qui timent Dominum non erunt incredibiles verbo illius : et qui diligunt illum conservabunt viam illius.
saying, We will fall into the hands of the Lord, And not into the hands of men: For as his majesty is, So also is his mercy.
他們說：「我們情願落在主的手中，不願落在人的手中；因為祂的憐憫，正如祂的威嚴一般廣大。」
