~245~ And it came to pass after that that Moses went down to the garden of Reuel, which is behind the house, and prayed there to the Lord his God, who had done many wonders with him. And while he was praying, he looked towards him and behold, a sapphire staff was placed on the ground, and it was planted in the garden. And he approached the staff and saw, and behold, the name of the Lord of hosts was engraved on it, written and interpreted on the staff. And he called him, and he sent out his hand, and it tore like a forest tree from its trellis, and it was down with his paw. And this staff is the staff in which all the works of our God were created after He created the heavens and the earth and all their hosts, the seas and rivers and all their fish. And when God drove man out of Eden, he took the staff in his hand, and went out and tilled the land that he was taking from there. And the staff reached Noah and was given to Shem and to his history, until it reached the hand of Abraham the Hebrew. And when Avraham gave all that he had to his son Isaac, he also gave him this staff. And it came to pass in the spirit of Yaakov, that he fell to Aram, and took her in his hand, and when he returned to his father, he was abandoned, and they did not abandon him. And also when he came down from Egypt and took him by the hand and gave to Yosef one shekel for his brother, because Jacob took him from the hand of his brother Esau in Hezekah. And it came to pass after Joseph's death, that the ministers of Egypt came to Joseph's house. And the staff touched the hand of Reuel the Midianite, and when he came out of Egypt he took it in his hand and planted it in his garden. And all the heroes of the nests tried to tear it open, in their request to take his daughter Tzipora, but they could not. And that staff will remain planted in the garden of Reuel, until the judgment comes and they take it away. And it came to pass when Reuel saw the staff in Moshe's hand, that he bewailed him, and gave his daughter Tzipora to Moshe as a wife. At that time, Baal Hanan son of Edom, king of Edom, died, and was buried in his house in the land of Edom. And it came to pass after his death, that the sons of Esau sent to the land of Aram, and took from there a man from a city in Aram, whose name was Hadar, and made him king over them under Baalhanan their king. And Hadar reigned over the children of Edom forty-eight years. And it happened during his reign that he advised to fight the Moabites to return them under the Esau sons as the first time, and he could not. For the sons of Moab heard this thing, and arose and hurried, and made a king of their brethren reign over them.
~246~ And they gathered after that in great numbers, and sent to the sons of Maon their brothers to join them to fight against Hadar, king of Edom. And Hadar heard what the Moabites did, and he was very afraid of them and stopped fighting with them. In those days Moshe ben Amram in Midian took Zipporah daughter of Reuel the Midini to wife. And a bird will walk in the ways of the women of the sons of Jacob, not missing anything from Sarah Rebekah Rachel and Leah. And Zipporah conceived and gave birth to a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said, I lived in a foreign land. Only he did not cut the flesh of his foreskin, according to his father-in-law's rule. And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and the flesh of his foreskin grew, and he called his name Eliezer. Because Moshe said that the God of my father is my helper and will deliver me from the sword of Pharaoh. And Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, kept the work very heavy on the Israelites in those days, and Joseph made his burden heavy on the Israelites. And they commanded and sent a voice in Egypt, saying, Thou shalt not give bread to the people for the white bread, and they shall go and seek bread for them, rather than find it. And the pattern of the bricks that they make for the day they will give, they will not deduct anything from them, because they are slack in their work. And the children of Israel heard this thing, and mourned and sighed and cried out to God from the bitterness of their souls. And God heard the cry of the Israelites, and saw the pressure that the Egyptians were pressuring them. And the Lord was jealous of his people and his inheritance and heard their voice and said to bring them out of the poverty of Egypt, to give them the land of Canaan as a possession. And in those days Moses was shepherding the flock of Reuel the Midiani his father-in-law after the desert of Sin, and the staff he had taken from his father-in-law in his hand. And it came to pass today, that a he-goat ran away from the flock to Moses, and Moses chased after it, and came to the mountain of God in ruins. And when he came it was ruined, and God saw him there in the bush, and he saw the bush burning with fire, only the fire did not control the bush to burn it. And Moshe wondered at this sight why he didn't cut down the bush, and went to see this terrible thing. And God called Moses out of the fire, and commanded him to go down from Egypt to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to send the children of Israel away from his service. And God said to Moses, Go again from Egypt because all the people who seek your life have died, and you spoke to Pharaoh to send Israel out of his country. And God instructed him to do signs and wonders in Egypt in the eyes of Pharaoh and in the eyes of his servants, so that they would believe that God had sent him. And Moses listened to all that God commanded him and sat down to his father-in-law and told him the matter, and said to him, Jethro, go in peace.
~247~ And Moshe got up to go from Egypt, and took his wife and sons with him. And he was on the way to the hotel, and the angel of God came down and asked him for an excuse. And he said to his death, because of the word of his firstborn son, which he did not obey, and he will break the covenant that God made with Abraham. Because Moshe listened to the words of his father-in-law who spoke to him not to speak in front of his firstborn son, therefore he did not speak to him. And a bird saw the angel of God asking for an excuse from Moses, and she knew that because he had not spoken to Gershom her son, this thing was for the child. And a bird hastened and took from the sharp points of the lances that she had placed and saved her son, and she saved a woman and her son from the hand of the angel of God. And Aharon ben Amram my brother Moshe was in Egypt walking on the edge of the Hior that day. And God looked at him in that place and said to him, please go towards Moses the desert, and he went and met him on the Mount of God and kissed him. And Aaron lifted up his eyes and saw Zipporah, Moses' wife, and her children, and said to Moses, "Who are these to you?" And Moses said to him, My wife and my children are what God gave me in Midian, and Aaron was told about the woman and her children. And Aaron said to Moses to send the woman and her children to go to her father's house, and Moses listened to Aaron's words and did so. And Zipporah and her sons stayed, and they went to the house of Reuel and stayed there, until the time when God visited his people and brought them out of Egypt from the hand of Pharaoh. And Moses and Aaron came from Egypt to the people of Israel and spoke to them all the words of God, and the people rejoiced with great joy. And Moses and Aaron agreed the next day, and they went to Pharaoh's house and the staff of God they took in their hands. And when they came to the king's gate, there were two lion infidels shut up there with iron chains, and no one came out and came before them alone except the king ordered him to come, and the whisperers came with them and the infidels removed their whispers and brought him to the king. And Moshe hastened and waved the staff over the infidels, and they fled, and Moshe and Aaron came to the king's house. And the infidels also came with them happily, and chased after them and rejoiced when the dog rejoiced at his master when he came from the field. And it came to pass when Pharaoh saw this thing, that he was astonished at this, and was very frightened at the rumor that he would be in Egypt as the name of the sons of God. And Pharaoh said to Moses and Aaron, what do you want, and they answered him, saying, "The Lord God of the Hebrews sent us to you, saying, 'Send my people and let them serve me.'
~248~ And when Pharaoh heard their words, he was very afraid of them, and said to them, Go today and come to me tomorrow, and they will do as the king said. And when they were gone, Pharaoh sent and called to Balaam the magician and to Yunus and Vimbros his sons and to all the sorcerers and magicians who are the advisors of the king, and they all came and sat before the king. And the king told them all the things that Moses and his brother Aaron had spoken to him. And the Khartoums said to the king, and how did the people come to you from the infidels who are forbidden at the gate. And the king said that they waved their staffs at the infidels and they will donate and come to me, and the infidels also rejoiced to meet them as a dog rejoices to meet its master. And Balaam son of the sorcerer answered the king saying, These are nothing but sorcerers like us. And now please send for them and they will come and they will be tested, and the king did so. And it came to pass in the morning, that Pharaoh sent for Moses and Aaron to come before the king. And they took the staff of God and came to the king, and spoke to him as follows. Thus said the Lord God of the Hebrews, send my people and serve me. And the king said to them, And who will believe you that you are God's messengers and on his word you came to me. Now give you a sign and a sign in this matter, and then your words will be believed which you speak. And Aaron hurried and threw the staff out of his hand before Pharaoh and before his servants, and the staff became a crocodile. And the Khartoums saw this thing, and the Khartoums also did the same, and threw one of his men to the ground and became crocodiles. And Aaron's staff of crocodiles lifted his head, and he opened his mouth to swallow the crocodiles of the magicians' staffs. And Balaam the magician answered and said, From ancient times there was this thing that a crocodile would swallow one another and that the fish of the sea would swallow one another. And now please return them down as the first, and we will also return our staffs as the first. And it would be if your staff swallowed our staffs and we knew that the Spirit of God is in you, and if there is not here, you are deaf like us. And Aaron hurried and reached out his hand and grabbed the crocodile's tail, and it was down with his paw. And the bowmen also did the same with their staffs, and they held each of them by the tail of the lions and they were the staffs like the first. And when they returned to the staffs, Aaron's staff swallowed up their staffs. And when the king saw this thing, he ordered to bring the book of memories of the kings of Egypt, and they brought the book of memories of the chronicles of the kings of Egypt, in which all the idols of Egypt are written, and they read before the king.
~249~ And when the book of the idols of Egypt was read before Pharaoh, because he said to find in it the name of God, what is it, and he did not find it. And Pharaoh said to Moses and Aaron, I did not find the name of your God written in this book and I did not know his name. And Pharaoh's advisers and his wise men answered the king saying, We have heard that the God of the Hebrews is the son of wise men, the son of ancient kings. And Pharaoh turned to Moses and Aaron and said to them, I did not know the Lord of which you have spoken, nor will I send His people. And they answered and said to the king, The Lord God of Gods has called his name and called upon us his name since the days of our fathers, and they sent us to say, Go to Pharaoh and say to him, Send my people and let them serve me. And now please send us and we will walk a three-day journey in the desert and sacrifice to him, because since the days of Jacob's descent from Egypt he has not taken from our hands an offering, an offering, and a sacrifice. And if you do not send us, let his nose be pointed at you, and strike the Egyptians with a word or a sword. And Pharaoh said to them, please tell me his strength and his prowess. And they said to him, He created the heavens and the earth, days and all their fish. Creator of light and creator of darkness rains on the earth and quenches it, and plants and grass will sprout in it. Creator of man and beast and beast of the forest and fowl of the air and fish of the sea, and by him they shall live and die. For he created you in your mother's womb and gave you the spirit of life, and raised you and seated you on the throne of the kingdom of Egypt. And he will take your spirit and your soul from you, and return you to the earth that takes you away. And the king was also jealous of their words and said to them, who among all the Gods of the nations can do this, tell me and I will do it. And he drove them out from before him, and ordered to burden the worship of Egypt on Israel from the day before yesterday. And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh's presence and saw the children of Israel in trouble, because Pharaoh's servants had burdened them with the work very much. And Moses sat down before God and said, "Why are you doing evil to your people, because since then I have come to speak to Pharaoh about what my son-in-law sent to the children of Israel is very bad." And God said to Moses, you see that with a strong hand and with vigorous blows Pharaoh will send the children of Israel out of his country. And Moses and Aaron dwelt among their brethren the children of Israel in Egypt, and the children of Israel made the Egyptians embitter their lives with hard work which burdened them even more.
~250~ And it came to pass at the end of two years, and Joseph the Lord sent Moses to Pharaoh, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. And Moses went and came to Pharaoh's house and spoke to him the words of God that were sent, and Pharaoh did not want to hear God's voice. And God raised his might in Egypt against Pharaoh and his servants, and God struck Pharaoh and his people with very bad and great plagues. And the Lord sent by the hand of Aaron and turned all the waters of Egypt into blood, and all their streams and rivers. And when the Egyptian came to drink and to draw water, he looked into his pitcher and behold, all the water turned to blood. And when he came to drink from his cup, the water in the cup turned into blood. And the woman also washed her flour and cooked her dish, and they will be witnesses at the sight of the blood. And the Lord sent more, and frogs sprang up from all their waters, and all the frogs came to the house of Egypt. And it came to pass when all the Egyptians drank water, and their bellies were filled with frogs, and they croaked in their bowels when they croaked when they were in the light. And all those who drink from them and those who cook them return to frogs, and also when they lie on their beds and sweat all their sweat frogs. Nevertheless, God did not return to any of them, and his hand is bent on all the Egyptians to strike them with every great blow. And the Lord sent their dust to lice, and their lice were in Egypt in the midst of the two nations of the earth. And also on the flesh of man and beast there were very many lice, in all the inhabitants of Egypt. And also on the king and the queen, God sent the lice, and made Egypt very sick from the lice. Even so, God did not return, and his hand is still bent on Egypt. And the Lord sent in Egypt all the beasts of the field, and they came and destroyed all Egypt and man and beast and tree and everything that belonged to Egypt. And God sent a fiery serpent and a scorpion, also a mouse and a rat and a turtle with creeping things of the earth. A fly and a wasp, a flea, a bug, and a mosquito, every guarantee of its kind. And every creeping thing and winged thing of its kind came from Egypt, and they grazed Egypt very much. And the fleas and the flies will come in the eyes of all the Egyptians and in their ears. And the wasp came upon them and stung them, and they came from her face into the room and chased after them. And it happened when the Egyptians hid from the hostages, and they locked their doors after them. And God commanded the jet that is in the sea, and it will rise and come from Egypt. And it has long cubits, ten cubits the length of a man. And the roofs will be removed, and you will reveal the ceiling and the roof and under you. And let her truth be sent home and remove the lock and the bolt and open the houses of Egypt, and after that the hostage will come to the house of Egypt and the hostage will destroy Egypt, and he will cause them a great deal.
~251~ Even so, God did not return from Egypt, and his hand is still bent on them. And God sent the word, and word came in Egypt in horses, donkeys, camels, cattle, sheep, and all people. And it came to pass in the morning, that all the Egyptians would take out their nests to graze, and they would find all their nests dead. And there was not left from the camp of all Egypt except one out of ten, and from the camp of the children of Israel in Goshen not one died. And God sent a kindling of fire in the flesh of the Egyptians and split their flesh, and there was a bad boil in all of Egypt from the sole of their foot to their toe. And there were many boils in all their flesh, and their flesh oozed over them, until they withered and shriveled. Even so, God did not return, and his hand is still bent on the whole of Egypt. And the Lord sent very heavy hail, and withered their vines and broke the primrose tree and dried them up and they withered away. And also every green herb was dry and perished because a flaming fire came down in the hail, therefore the hail and the fire consumed everything. And the man and the beast that were across died from flames of fire and hail, and all the villages were destroyed. And the Lord sent and brought a heavy locust from Egypt, a grasshopper and a grasshopper and a locust and every locust of its kind, and it ate what the hail had left. Then all the Egyptians rejoiced in the locust, even though it ate all the produce of the field, and the Egyptians hunted the locust very often and fought for food. And God turned the wind of the sea very strong and carried away all the locusts and also the salt ones and stuck them in the Red Sea, not a single locust was left in all the border of Egypt. And God sent darkness in Egypt, and the whole land of Egypt and Peter was darkened for three days until a man saw his hand with a mole in his mouth. At that time, many of the people of Israel died because they rebelled against God, and they did not listen to Moses and Aaron and did not believe in them because God made peace. And they said, We will not leave Egypt, lest we die of hunger in the wilderness of their name, and they did not fear to hear the voice of Moses. And God will destroy them in the three days of darkness, and Israel will be buried in those days for the ignorance of the inhabitants of Egypt and they will rejoice over them. And the darkness was very strong in Egypt for three days, and everyone who was standing when the darkness came, was still standing in his place. And the one who sits still sits and the one who lies still lies when he and the one who walks will sit in the land in his place, and this thing will happen to all Egypt until the darkness.
~252~ And the days of darkness passed and God sent Moses and Aaron to the children of Israel to say, celebrate your festivals and keep your Passovers because I came in the middle of the night in the middle of all Egypt and I killed all their firstborn from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beast, and I saw your Passovers and I passed over you. And the children of Israel did as God commanded Moses and Aaron, so they did that night. And it came to pass in the middle of the night, that God went forth into the midst of Egypt, and slew all the firstborn of Egypt, from the firstborn of man to the firstborn of beast. And Pharaoh got up that night, he and all his servants and all Egypt, and there was a great cry in all Egypt that night, for there is no house where there is not a dead man. Also the image of the firstborn of Egypt engraved on the walls of their houses will melt and fall to the ground. And all the bones of their firstborn who died before this will be buried in their houses, and the dogs of Egypt will drag them that night and they will be dragged before all the Egyptians and they will throw them before them. And all the Egyptians saw this evil that had suddenly come upon them, and all the Egyptians cried out with a loud voice. And all the families of Egypt wept that night, each for their son and each for their daughter, and the uproar of Egypt that night was heard from afar. And Bethiah the daughter of Pharaoh went out with the king that night to seek Moses and Aaron in their homes, and they found them in their homes eating and drinking and rejoicing with all Israel. And her daughter said to Moshe, will this not be my reward for the good that I have done to you, that you have raised and that you have nurtured and brought this evil upon me and my father's house. And Moses said to her, Isn't it the ten plagues that God brought upon all Egypt that have come upon you worse than all of them if one of them comes to you, and you say no. And Moses said to her, even because you are the firstborn of your mother, you will not die and no harm will come to you in Egypt. And she said, And what is my advantage after I see the king, my brother, and all his household and servants in this evil, that all their firstborn died with all the firstborn of Egypt. And Moses said to her, Is it not your brother and his house and his servants, the families of Egypt, did not listen to the words of God, that is why this evil has come upon them.
~253~ And Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, came before Moses and Aaron and some of the Israelites who were with them in that place, and begged them to say. Arise and take your brothers, all the children of Israel who are in the land, and their flocks and herds and all that belongs to them, they shall not leave anything behind, but petition the Lord your God on my behalf. And Moses said to Pharaoh, here you are also the firstborn of your mother, but do not be afraid because you will not die, because God commanded you to live for the sake of seeing you with His great power and His bent and strong arm. And Pharaoh commanded to send the children of Israel, and all the Egyptians strengthened themselves against Solomon because they said we are all dead. And all the Egyptians sent Israel with great wealth and flocks and herds and abundance, according to God's oath between him and our father Abraham. And some of the children of Israel hesitated to go out at night, and when the Egyptians came to take them out, the thieves said to them, "We will go out at night." And the children of Israel borrowed from Egypt silver vessels and gold vessels and dresses, and the children of Israel saved Egypt. And Moses hastened and got up and went to the river of Egypt, and brought up Joseph's ark from there and took it with him. And all the children of Israel brought up each man the ark of his ancestors with him, and each ark of his tribe with him. And the children of Israel traveled from Rammess to Sukkot, about six hundred thousand feet, the men alone, their men and women. And a great evening also arose with them, and sheep and cattle from a very heavy net. And the seat of the Israelites who lived in the land of Egypt in hard labor, ten years and two hundred years. And it came to pass at the end of ten years and two hundred years, that God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt with a strong hand. And the children of Israel traveled from Egypt and Mogshan and the land of Ramses and camped in Sukkot, on the fifteenth day of the first month. And the Egyptians bury all their firstborn whom the Lord struck, and all the Egyptians bury all their dead for three days. And the Israelites traveled from Sukkot, and camped with them at the edge of the desert. And it happened on the third day after the Egyptians buried their firstborn, and many people arose from Egypt and followed Israel to return them to Egypt. Because they comforted those who had sent Israel away from their work. They said one to another, didn't Moses and Aaron speak to Pharaoh saying, "We will go through the desert for three days and sacrifice to the Lord our God." And now we agreed with them in the morning to return them, and it would be if they returned with us to Egypt again to our Lord, and we knew that faith was with them. And if they do not return, we will fight them and return them with a great force and a strong hand.
~254~ And in the morning all the ministers of Pharaoh and with them about seven hundred thousand men woke up, and they left Egypt and came that day as far as the place where the Israelites were. And all the Egyptians saw, and behold, Moses and Aaron and all the children of Israel were sitting before the mouth of freedom, eating and drinking and celebrating the Feast of God. And all the Egyptians said to the children of Israel, didn't you say that we will go through the desert for three days and sacrifice to our God and our children? And now isn't it five days today that you left, why don't you come back to your lord. And Moshe and Aaron answered and said to them, for the witness, the Lord our God, has testified in our son that they will not return any more from Egypt. Because we will go to a land flowing with milk and honey, when the Lord our God swore to our ancestors to give us. And all the ministers of Egypt saw that all Israel did not listen to them to return from Egypt, and they refrained from fighting with Israel. And God strengthened the hearts of the children of Israel against Egypt, and Israel fought with the rulers of Egypt. And the hand of the Israelites prevailed over Egypt, and they struck them with a great blow. And the war against Egypt was heavy, and all the Egyptians fled before the children of Israel, for many of them died at the hands of the children of Israel. And Pharaoh's ministers went from Egypt and said to Pharaoh, the children of Israel have fled to them and will not return from Egypt, and thus and thus Moses and Aaron spoke to us. And Pharaoh heard this thing, and his heart and the hearts of all his servants turned to Israel, and they were comforted because they had sent Israel away. And all the Egyptians said to Pharaoh to pursue the children of Israel, to return them to their suffering. And they said, each man to his brother, What have we done, that we sent Israel away from our slavery? And God strengthened the hearts of all Egypt to pursue Israel, because God wanted to overthrow all Egypt in the Red Sea. And Pharaoh stood up and forbade his chariot and ordered and gathered all the Egyptians, not a single one was left but the mother of the child and the women. And all the Egyptians went out with Pharaoh to pursue the Israelites, and the Egyptian camp was a very large and heavy camp, about ten hundred thousand men. And this whole camp went and chased after the Israelites to bring them back from Egypt, and they overtook Israel encamped on the Red Sea.
~256~ And the children of Israel lifted up their eyes and saw, and behold, all the Egyptians were pursuing them, and the children of Israel were greatly afraid of them, and the children of Israel cried out to God. And all the children of Israel were divided before Egypt into four heads and they were divided according to their words because they would see Egypt, and Moses would speak to them one by one. The one head was the sons of Reuben and Shimon and Issachar, and they said to throw their lives in the sea because they would be very afraid of all Egypt. And Moses said to them, do not be afraid, stand still and see the salvation of God that He will do for you this day. And the second head of the sons of Zebulun and Benjamin and Naphtali, and they said to return from Egypt with Egypt. And Moses said to them, do not be afraid, for what you have seen of Egypt today, you will not see them again forever. And the third chief, the sons of Yehuda, Dan, and Yosef, and they said to go towards Egypt to fight with them. And Moses said to them, stand your ground because God will fight for you and you will be silenced. And the fourth leader, the sons of Levi, Gad and Asher, and they said to come inside Egypt to shock them. And Moses said to them, stand within your position and do not be afraid, but call on God to deliver you from their hands. And after that, Moses stood up from among the people and prayed to God and said, "Please God, God of all the earth, save this people whom you have brought out of Egypt, and let not all the Egyptians say that they have a hand and a mighty hand." And the Lord said to Moses, why are you shouting at me? Speak to the children of Israel and they will go. And you will lean your staff over the sea and it will divide, and the children of Israel will pass through it. And Moses did so, and raised his staff over the sea and parted it. And they split the waters of the Red Sea into twelve rifts, and the children of Israel passed through the sea with their feet in shoes when a person passes through a paved way. And God showed the children of Israel his wonders in Egypt and in the sea, by the hands of Moses and Aaron. And it came to pass when the children of Israel came to the sea, and the Egyptians came after them, and the water of the sea returned upon them, and they were all drowned in the water, and there was not one of them left. Besides Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, who gave thanks to God and believed in Him, therefore God did not die at that time with Egypt. And the Lord commanded an angel and brought him out of the Egyptians and cast him into the land of Nineveh, and he reigned over it for many days. And God saved Israel on that day from the hand of Egypt, and all the children of Israel saw that all the Egyptians had died, and they saw the great hand of God that He had done in Egypt and in the sea.
~255~ Then Moses and the children of Israel will sing this song to God, on the day God brought down Egypt before them. And all Israel sang in song, saying, Sing to the Lord, for a horse is proud, and his rider is high in the sea, here is a writing on the book of the Torah of God. And it came to pass after that, that the children of Israel journeyed and encamped at Merah. And God gave the children of Israel laws and judgments in that place at Merah, and God commanded the children of Israel to follow all his ways and worship him. And they traveled from Merah and came to Ilima and in the mountains twelve springs of water and seventy dates, and the children of Israel camped there on the water. And they will travel from rams and come to the desert of China, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their departure from Egypt. At that time, God gave manna to the Israelites to eat, and God rained bread from heaven on the Israelites every day. And the children of Israel ate the manna for forty years, all the days they were in the desert until they came to the land of Canaan to inherit it. And they traveled from the desert of China, and camped in Elosh. And they journeyed from Elosh, and camped at Rapadim. And it came to pass, when the children of Israel were in Rapadim, and Amalek the son of Eliphaz, the son of Esau, my brother, came upon them, they expected a war with Israel. And he will bring with him a thousand and eighty thousand magicians and sorcerers, and he will make war with Israel in the Raphidim. And they fought a great and mighty war in Israel, and God gave Amalek and his people into the hand of Moses and the children of Israel and into the hand of Joshua son of Nun the Ephrathite, Moses' servant. And the children of Israel smote Amalek and his people with the sword, but a strong war was that war against the children of Israel. And God said to Moses, write this thing as a memorial for you in a book and put it in the hand of Joshua son of Nun your servant. And commanded the children of Israel to say, when you come to the land of Canaan, wipe out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. And Moshe did so, and took the book and wrote on it these words to say. Remember what Amalek did to you, on the way out of Egypt. Who is hard on the way and all the laggards after you are tailing you and you are weak and weary, and do not fear God. And when the Lord your God has set you free from all your enemies around the land, which the Lord your God is giving you an inheritance to inherit, you will blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven, you will not forget. And there will be a king who will have mercy on Amalek and his memory and his seed, I myself will demand from his people and I will recognize him from among his people. And Moses wrote all these things in a book, and commanded the Israelites about all these things.
~256~ And the Israelites traveled from Rafidim and camped in the Sinai desert, in the third month of their departure from Egypt. At that time, Reuel the Midini, Moshe's son-in-law, came with Zipporah his daughter and her two sons, because he had heard the wonders God had done for Israel, who had saved them from the hand of Egypt. And Jethro came to Moses in the desert where he was camping, the mountain of God. And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law with great honor, and all Israel with him. And Jethro and his sons stayed among Israel for many days, and Jethro knew God from that day on. And it happened in the third month that the children of Israel came out of Egypt in six days, and God gave Israel the ten things on Mount Sinai. And all Israel heard these words, and all Israel rejoiced greatly in God that day. And the glory of God dwelled on Mount Sinai and called to Moses, and Moses came in the cloud and went up to the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights, he ate no bread and drank no water, and God taught him laws and judgments to instruct the children of Israel. And God wrote the ten things which he commanded the children of Israel on two stone tablets, to give them to Moses to command the children of Israel. And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights that God spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, and He gave Moses the stone tablets written by the finger of God. And the children of Israel saw that Moses hesitated to come down from the mountain, and they cursed Aaron saying the man Moses, we did not know what was wrong with him. Now arise, make us Gods who will go before us, and you will not die. And Aaron was very afraid of the people, and commanded that they bring him gold and make him a calf as a mask to the people. And God said to Moses before he came down from the mountain, go down, for the people whom you brought out of Egypt have perished. Because they made a calf for them and bowed down to it, and now let me eat it from the land because it is a hard-backed people. And Moses blessed God's face and prayed to God on behalf of the people, about the calf they had made. And after that Moses came down from the mountain with the two stone tablets in his hand, which God had given him to command Israel. And it came to pass when Moses drew near to the camp and saw the calf that the people had made, and Moses also became angry and broke the tablets under the mountain. And Moses came to the camp and took the calf and burned it in the fire, and ground it until it was fine and sprinkled it on the water and watered Israel.
~257~ And there died of the people, one by the other's sword, about three thousand men, who made the calf. And it came to pass the next day that Moses said to the people, I will go up to God, perhaps I will be forgiven for your sin which you have sinned against God. And Moses went up again to God, and sat with God for forty days and forty nights. And Moses asked God for the children of Israel for forty days, and God heard Moses' prayer and God granted him for Israel. Then G-d spoke to Moshe to disallow two stone tablets to bring them up to G-d, to write the ten things on them. And Moses did so and went down and passed two tablets and went up to Mount Sinai to God, and God wrote the ten things on the tablets. And Moses sat with God for forty days and forty nights, and God taught him more laws and judgments for Israel. And God commanded him to the children of Israel to make a tabernacle for God to dwell in them, and God showed him the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its vessels. And it came to pass at the end of the forty days, that Moses came down from the mountain with two tablets in his hand. And Moses came to the children of Israel, and spoke to them all the words of God. And he taught them the teachings of laws and judgments, which God commanded. And Moses told the children of Israel the words of God to make him a tabernacle, to dwell among the children of Israel. And the people rejoiced with exceedingly great joy for all the good that God had spoken to them through the hand of Moses, and they said, "All that God has spoken to you, we will do." And all the people stood up as one man and volunteered for the tabernacle of God, and each man brought God's contribution to the work of the tabernacle and to all its work. And all the children of Israel brought gold, silver, and copper, every man of all that was in his hand, to the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and everything that was made in the tabernacle. And all the wise men who do the work will come and build the tabernacle of God according to what God has commanded, each man from his work that they are doing. And all who were wise in heart made the tabernacle and all its vessels and all the utensils of the work of the holy work, as God commanded Moses. And all the work of the tent of meeting was completed at the end of five months, and the children of Israel did all that God commanded Moses. And they brought the tabernacle to Moses and all its vessels according to the vision that God showed Moses, so did the children of Israel. And Moses saw the work, and behold, they did it as God commanded him, and he blessed them from there.
