Τούτου δὴ οὑν τοῦ Κλήμεντος ὁμολογουμένη μία ἐπιστολὴ φέρεται, μεγάλη τε καὶ θαυμασία, ἥν ὡς ἀπὸ τῆς Ῥωμαίων ἐκκλησίας τῇ Κορινθίων διετυπώσατο, στάσεως τηνικάδε κατὰ τὴν Κόρινθον γενομένης. ταύτην δὲ καὶ ἐν πλείσταις ἐκκλησίαις ἐπὶ τοῦ κοινοῦ δεδημοσιευμένην πάλαι τε καὶ καθ ἡμᾶς αὐτοὺς ἔγνωμεν. καὶ ὕτι γε κατὰ τὸν δηλούμενον τὰ τῆς Κορινθίων κεκίνητο στάσεως ἀξιόχρεως μάρτυς ὁ Ἡγήσιππος.
論到這革利免，有一封公認的書信存留下來，是偉大而可佩的，乃是他以羅馬教會的名義，寫給哥林多教會的，那時哥林多正起了紛爭。我們知道這封書信曾在極多的教會中公開誦讀，無論在從前或在我們自己的時候都是如此。至於哥林多的紛爭是在所指明的那時候挑起的，黑格西普是一位足以採信的見證人。
Of this Clement, then, one acknowledged epistle is extant, great and admirable, which he drew up in the name of the church of Rome to the church of the Corinthians, when a faction had arisen at Corinth at that time. And we know that this epistle has been publicly read in very many churches in common, both in former times and in our own. And that the faction at Corinth was stirred up in the time indicated, Hegesippus is a competent witness.
