30:1
Clement, however, whose words we have just now read, next after the things previously said, on account of those who reject marriage, lists the apostles who were proved to have lived in wedlock, saying, 'Or will they reject even the apostles? For Peter and Philip begot children, and Philip also gave his daughters in marriage to husbands. And Paul does not hesitate, in one of his epistles, to address his own consort, whom he did not take about with him for the sake of the convenience of his ministry.'
30:2
And since we have mentioned these matters, it is no grief to set forth another narrative of the same author worth telling, which he recorded in the seventh book of his Miscellanies in this manner: 'They say, then, that when the blessed Peter saw his own wife being led away to death, he rejoiced because of her calling and her return home, and called out to her very encouragingly and consolingly, addressing her by name, “Remember, you there, the Lord.” Such was the marriage of the blessed and the perfect disposition of those most dear to one another.' And let these things, being suited to the subject in hand, be set down here by me in due season.
