And Dauid had passed a little beyond Rōos, and behold, Siba the servant of Memphibosthe came to meet him with a pair of saddled donkeys, and on them two hundred loaves and a hundred clusters of raisins and a hundred dates and a nebel of wine.
And the king said to Siba, "What are these to you?" And Siba said, "The beasts are for the king's household to ride on, and the loaves and the dates are for food for the young men, and the wine is for those who are exhausted in the wilderness to drink."
And the king said, "And where is your master's son?" And Siba said to the king, "Behold, he remains in Ierousalem, for he said, 'Today the house of Israel will restore to me the kingdom of my father.'"
And the king said to Siba, "Behold, all that belongs to Memphibosthe is yours." And Siba, doing obeisance, said, "May I find favor in your eyes, my lord O king."
And king Dauid came as far as Baourim, and behold, from there a man was coming out, of the family of the house of Saoul, and his name was Semei son of Gera; he came out, going along and cursing.
And he threw stones at Dauid and at all the servants of king Dauid; and all the people were there, and all the mighty men, on the right and on the left of the king.
The Lord has returned upon you all the blood of the house of Saoul, because you reigned in his place; and the Lord has given the kingdom into the hand of Abessalom your son. And behold, you are in your own evil, for you are a man of blood."
And the king said, "What have I to do with you, sons of Sarouias? Let him be, and so let him curse, for the Lord told him to curse Dauid; and who shall say, 'Why have you done so?'"
And Dauid said to Abessa and to all his servants, "Behold, my son who came out of my belly seeks my life; and how much more now this son of Iemini! Let him be, to curse, for the Lord told him.
And Dauid and his men went on the road; and Semei went along the side of the mountain close to him, going along and cursing and throwing stones from beside him and sprinkling with dust.
And Chousi said to Abessalom, No, but I will be behind the one whom the Lord and this people and every man of Israel have chosen; his I will be, and with him I will remain.
And Achitophel said to Abessalom, Go in to your father's concubines, whom he left to keep his house; and all Israel will hear that you have shamed your father, and the hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.
And the counsel of Achitophel, which he counselled in the former days, was as when one inquires by the word of God; so was all the counsel of Achitophel, both to David and to Abessalom.
