Deuteronomy 22

When you see your brother's calf or his sheep straying on the road, do not overlook them; you shall surely bring them back to your brother and return them to him.

But if your brother is not near you, nor do you know him, you shall bring them inside into your house, and they shall be with you until your brother seeks them; then you shall return them to him.

So shall you do with his donkey, and so shall you do with his garment, and so shall you do with every lost thing of your brother's, whatever is lost from him and you find; you may not overlook it.

You shall not see your brother's donkey or his calf fallen on the road and overlook them; you shall surely help him raise them up.

A man's gear shall not be on a woman, nor shall a man put on a woman's robe; for everyone who does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

If you come upon a bird's nest before you on the road, or in any tree, or on the ground, with nestlings or eggs, and the mother is brooding over the nestlings or over the eggs, you shall not take the mother together with the young.

You shall surely send the mother away, but the young you may take for yourself, that it may go well with you and that you may live many days.

If you build a new house, you shall make a parapet for your roof, so that you do not bring bloodshed upon your house, if anyone should fall from it.

You shall not sow your vineyard with a different kind, lest the produce be consecrated, together with the seed which you sow along with the produce of your vineyard.

You shall not plow with a calf and a donkey together.

You shall not wear adulterated cloth, wool and linen together.

You shall make twisted tassels for yourself on the four corners of the cloaks with which you cover yourself.

If a man takes a wife and lives with her, and then hates her,

and lays pretextual charges against her and brings an evil name upon her, and says, I took this woman, and when I came to her I did not find her tokens of virginity,

then the girl's father and her mother shall take the girl's tokens of virginity and bring them out to the council of elders at the gate.

And the girl's father shall say to the elders, I gave this my daughter to this man as a wife, and he has hated her;

now he lays pretextual charges against her, saying, I did not find your daughter's tokens of virginity. And these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they shall spread out the garment before the elders of the city.

And the elders of that city shall take that man and discipline him,

and they shall fine him a hundred shekels and give them to the young woman's father, because he brought out an evil name upon an Israelite virgin. And she shall remain his wife; he shall not be able to send her away for all time.

But if this charge is true, and tokens of virginity are not found for the young woman,

then they shall bring the young woman out to the doors of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones, and she shall die, because she did folly among the sons of Israel, to play the harlot in her father's house. And you shall remove the evil from among your own selves.

If a man is found lying with a woman married to a husband, you shall put them both to death — the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. And you shall remove the evil from Israel.

If there is a girl, a virgin betrothed to a man, and a man finds her in the city and lies with her,

you shall bring them both out to the gate of their city, and they shall be stoned with stones and die — the young woman, because she did not cry out in the city, and the man, because he humiliated his neighbor's wife. And you shall remove the evil from among your own selves.

But if a man finds the betrothed girl in the open country and forces her and lies with her, you shall put to death only the man who lay with her;

but to the young woman you shall do nothing; there is no sin deserving death in the young woman, for this matter is just as when a man rises up against his neighbor and murders his life.

For he found her in the field; the betrothed young woman cried out, and there was no one to help her.

If a man finds a girl, a virgin who is not betrothed, and forces her and lies with her, and he is discovered,

the man who lay with her shall give the young woman's father fifty silver didrachmas, and she shall be his wife, because he humiliated her; he shall not be able to send her away for all time.
