10:1
Filius sapiens laetificat patrem, filius vero stultus moestitia est matris suae.
所羅門的箴言: 智慧之子使父親歡樂; 愚昧之子叫母親擔憂。
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.
10:2
Nil proderunt thesauri impietatis, justitia vero liberabit a morte.
不義之財毫無益處; 惟有公義能救人脫離死亡。
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
10:3
Non affliget Dominus fame animam justi, et insidias impiorum subvertet.
耶和華不使義人受飢餓; 惡人所欲的,他必推開。
Yahweh will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
10:4
Egestatem operata est manus remissa ; manus autem fortium divitias parat. Qui nititur mendaciis, hic pascit ventos ; idem autem ipse sequitur aves volantes.
手懶的,要受貧窮; 手勤的,卻要富足。
He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.
10:5
Qui congregat in messe, filius sapiens est ; qui autem stertit aestate, filius confusionis.
夏天聚斂的,是智慧之子; 收割時沉睡的,是貽羞之子。
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.
10:6
Benedictio Domini super caput justi ; os autem impiorum operit iniquitas.
福祉臨到義人的頭; 強暴蒙蔽惡人的口。
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
10:7
Memoria justi cum laudibus, et nomen impiorum putrescet.
義人的紀念被稱讚; 惡人的名字必朽爛。
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.
10:8
Sapiens corde praecepta suscipit ; stultus caeditur labiis.
心中智慧的,必受命令; 口裏愚妄的,必致傾倒。
The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.
10:9
Qui ambulat simpliciter ambulat confidenter ; qui autem depravat vias suas manifestus erit.
行正直路的,步步安穩; 走彎曲道的,必致敗露。
He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.
10:10
Qui annuit oculo dabit dolorem ; et stultus labiis verberabitur.
以眼傳神的,使人憂患; 口裏愚妄的,必致傾倒。
One who winks with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.
10:11
Vena vitae os justi, et os impiorum operit iniquitatem.
義人的口是生命的泉源; 強暴蒙蔽惡人的口。
The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
10:12
Odium suscitat rixas, et universa delicta operit caritas.
恨能挑啟爭端; 愛能遮掩一切過錯。
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.
10:13
In labiis sapientis invenitur sapientia, et virga in dorso ejus qui indiget corde.
明哲人嘴裏有智慧; 無知人背上受刑杖。
Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
10:14
Sapientes abscondunt scientiam ; os autem stulti confusioni proximum est.
智慧人積存知識; 愚妄人的口速致敗壞。
Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.
10:15
Substantia divitis, urbs fortitudinis ejus ; pavor pauperum egestas eorum.
富戶的財物是他的堅城; 窮人的貧乏是他的敗壞。
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
10:16
Opus justi ad vitam, fructus autem impii ad peccatum.
義人的勤勞致生; 惡人的進項致死 。
The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.
10:17
Via vitae custodienti disciplinam ; qui autem increpationes relinquit, errat.
謹守訓誨的,乃在生命的道上; 違棄責備的,便失迷了路。
He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.
10:18
Abscondunt odium labia mendacia ; qui profert contumeliam, insipiens est.
隱藏怨恨的,有說謊的嘴; 口出讒謗的,是愚妄的人。
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.
10:19
In multiloquio non deerit peccatum, qui autem moderatur labia sua prudentissimus est.
多言多語難免有過; 禁止嘴唇是有智慧。
In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.
10:20
Argentum electum lingua justi ; cor autem impiorum pro nihilo.
義人的舌乃似高銀; 惡人的心所值無幾。
The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
10:21
Labia justi erudiunt plurimos ; qui autem indocti sunt in cordis egestate morientur.
義人的口教養多人; 愚昧人因無知而死亡。
The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
10:22
Benedictio Domini divites facit, nec sociabitur eis afflictio.
耶和華所賜的福使人富足, 並不加上憂慮。
Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
10:23
Quasi per risum stultus operatur scelus, sapientia autem est viro prudentia.
愚妄人以行惡為戲耍; 明哲人卻以智慧為樂。
It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
10:24
Quod timet impius veniet super eum ; desiderium suum justus dabitur.
惡人所怕的,必臨到他; 義人所願的,必蒙應允。
What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
10:25
Quasi tempestas transiens non erit impius ; justus autem quasi fundamentum sempiternum.
暴風一過,惡人歸於無有; 義人的根基卻是永久。
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.
10:26
Sicut acetum dentibus, et fumus oculis, sic piger his qui miserunt eum.
懶惰人叫差他的人 如醋倒牙,如煙薰目。
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
10:27
Timor Domini apponet dies, et anni impiorum breviabuntur.
敬畏耶和華使人日子加多; 但惡人的年歲必被減少。
The fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
10:28
Exspectatio justorum laetitia, spes autem impiorum peribit.
義人的盼望必得喜樂; 惡人的指望必致滅沒。
The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
10:29
Fortitudo simplicis via Domini, et pavor his qui operantur malum.
耶和華的道是正直人的保障, 卻成了作孽人的敗壞。
The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
10:30
Justus in aeternum non commovebitur, impii autem non habitabunt super terram.
義人永不挪移; 惡人不得住在地上。
The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
10:31
Os justi parturiet sapientiam ; lingua pravorum peribit.
義人的口滋生智慧; 乖謬的舌必被割斷。
The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
10:32
Labia justi considerant placita, et os impiorum perversa.
義人的嘴能令人喜悅; 惡人的口說乖謬的話。
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverse.
