15:1
Responsio mollis frangit iram ; sermo durus suscitat furorem.
回答柔和,使怒消退; 言語暴戾,觸動怒氣。
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
15:2
Lingua sapientium ornat scientiam ; os fatuorum ebullit stultitiam.
智慧人的舌善發知識; 愚昧人的口吐出愚昧。
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools gush out folly.
15:3
In omni loco, oculi Domini contemplantur bonos et malos.
耶和華的眼目無處不在; 惡人善人,他都鑒察。
Yahweh’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
15:4
Lingua placabilis lignum vitae ; quae autem immoderata est conteret spiritum.
溫良的舌是生命樹; 乖謬的嘴使人心碎。
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
15:5
Stultus irridet disciplinam patris sui ; qui autem custodit increpationes astutior fiet. In abundanti justitia virtus maxima est : cogitationes autem impiorum eradicabuntur.
愚妄人藐視父親的管教; 領受責備的,得着見識。
A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
15:6
Domus justi plurima fortitudo, et in fructibus impii conturbatio.
義人家中多有財寶; 惡人得利反受擾害。
In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
15:7
Labia sapientium disseminabunt scientiam ; cor stultorum dissimile erit.
智慧人的嘴播揚知識; 愚昧人的心並不如此。
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
15:8
Victimae impiorum abominabiles Domino ; vota justorum placabilia.
惡人獻祭,為耶和華所憎惡; 正直人祈禱,為他所喜悅。
The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
15:9
Abominatio est Domino via impii ; qui sequitur justitiam diligitur ab eo.
惡人的道路,為耶和華所憎惡; 追求公義的,為他所喜愛。
The way of the wicked is an abomination to Yahweh, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
15:10
Doctrina mala deserenti viam vitae ; qui increpationes odit, morietur.
捨棄正路的,必受嚴刑; 恨惡責備的,必致死亡。
There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way. Whoever hates reproof shall die.
15:11
Infernus et perditio coram Domino ; quanto magis corda filiorum hominum !
陰間和滅亡尚在耶和華眼前, 何況世人的心呢?
Sheol and Abaddon are before Yahweh— how much more then the hearts of the children of men!
15:12
Non amat pestilens eum qui se corripit, nec ad sapientes graditur.
褻慢人不愛受責備; 他也不就近智慧人。
A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
15:13
Cor gaudens exhilarat faciem ; in moerore animi dejicitur spiritus.
心中喜樂,面帶笑容; 心裏憂愁,靈被損傷。
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
15:14
Cor sapientis quaerit doctrinam, et os stultorum pascitur imperitia.
聰明人心求知識; 愚昧人口吃愚昧。
The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
15:15
Omnes dies pauperis, mali ; secura mens quasi juge convivium.
困苦人的日子都是愁苦; 心中歡暢的,常享豐筵。
All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
15:16
Melius est parum cum timore Domini, quam thesauri magni et insatiabiles.
少有財寶,敬畏耶和華, 強如多有財寶,煩亂不安。
Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble.
15:17
Melius est vocari ad olera cum caritate, quam ad vitulum saginatum cum odio.
吃素菜,彼此相愛, 強如吃肥牛,彼此相恨。
Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
15:18
Vir iracundus provocat rixas ; qui patiens est mitigat suscitatas.
暴怒的人挑啟爭端; 忍怒的人止息紛爭。
A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
15:19
Iter pigrorum quasi sepes spinarum ; via justorum absque offendiculo.
懶惰人的道像荊棘的籬笆; 正直人的路是平坦的大道。
The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
15:20
Filius sapiens laetificat patrem, et stultus homo despicit matrem suam.
智慧子使父親喜樂; 愚昧人藐視母親。
A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
15:21
Stultitia gaudium stulto, et vir prudens dirigit gressus suos.
無知的人以愚妄為樂; 聰明的人按正直而行。
Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
15:22
Dissipantur cogitationes ubi non est consilium ; ubi vero sunt plures consiliarii, confirmantur.
不先商議,所謀無效; 謀士眾多,所謀乃成。
Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established.
15:23
Laetatur homo in sententia oris sui, et sermo opportunus est optimus.
口善應對,自覺喜樂; 話合其時,何等美好。
Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
15:24
Semita vitae super eruditum, ut declinet de inferno novissimo.
智慧人從生命的道上升, 使他遠離在下的陰間。
The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol.
15:25
Domum superborum demolietur Dominus, et firmos faciet terminos viduae.
耶和華必拆毀驕傲人的家, 卻要立定寡婦的地界。
Yahweh will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.
15:26
Abominatio Domini cogitationes malae, et purus sermo pulcherrimus firmabitur ab eo.
惡謀為耶和華所憎惡; 良言乃為純淨。
Yahweh detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
15:27
Conturbat domum suam qui sectatur avaritiam ; qui autem odit munera, vivet. Per misericordiam et fidem purgantur peccata : per timorem autem Domini declinat omnis a malo.
貪戀財利的,擾害己家; 恨惡賄賂的,必得存活。
He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
15:28
Mens justi meditatur obedientiam ; os impiorum redundat malis.
義人的心,思量如何回答; 惡人的口吐出惡言。
The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
15:29
Longe est Dominus ab impiis, et orationes justorum exaudiet.
耶和華遠離惡人, 卻聽義人的禱告。
Yahweh is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
15:30
Lux oculorum laetificat animam ; fama bona impinguat ossa.
眼有光,使心喜樂; 好信息,使骨滋潤。
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
15:31
Auris quae audit increpationes vitae in medio sapientium commorabitur.
聽從生命責備的, 必常在智慧人中。
The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home among the wise.
15:32
Qui abjicit disciplinam despicit animam suam ; qui autem acquiescit increpationibus possessor est cordis.
棄絕管教的,輕看自己的生命; 聽從責備的,卻得智慧。
He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
15:33
Timor Domini disciplina sapientiae, et gloriam praecedit humilitas.
敬畏耶和華是智慧的訓誨; 尊榮以前,必有謙卑。
The fear of Yahweh teaches wisdom. Before honor is humility.
