22:1
Melius est nomen bonum quam divitiae multae ; super argentum et aurum gratia bona.
美名勝過大財; 恩寵強如金銀。
A good name is more desirable than great riches, and loving favor is better than silver and gold.
22:2
Dives et pauper obviaverunt sibi : utriusque operator est Dominus.
富戶窮人在世相遇, 都為耶和華所造。
The rich and the poor have this in common: Yahweh is the maker of them all.
22:3
Callidus vidit malum, et abscondit se ; innocens pertransiit, et afflictus est damno.
通達人見禍藏躲; 愚蒙人前往受害。
A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.
22:4
Finis modestiae timor Domini, divitiae, et gloria, et vita.
敬畏耶和華心存謙卑, 就得富有、尊榮、生命為賞賜。
The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh is wealth, honor, and life.
22:5
Arma et gladii in via perversi ; custos autem animae suae longe recedit ab eis.
乖僻人的路上有荊棘和網羅; 保守自己生命的,必要遠離。
Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked; whoever guards his soul stays far from them.
22:6
Proverbium est : adolescens juxta viam suam ; etiam cum senuerit, non recedet ab ea.
教養孩童,使他走當行的道, 就是到老他也不偏離。
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
22:7
Dives pauperibus imperat, et qui accipit mutuum servus est foenerantis.
富戶管轄窮人; 欠債的是債主的僕人。
The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender.
22:8
Qui seminat iniquitatem metet mala, et virga irae suae consummabitur.
撒罪孽的,必收災禍; 他逞怒的杖也必廢掉。
He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
22:9
Qui pronus est ad misericordiam benedicetur : de panibus enim suis dedit pauperi. Victoriam et honorem acquiret qui dat munera ; animam autem aufert accipientium.
眼目慈善的,就必蒙福, 因他將食物分給窮人。
He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.
22:10
Ejice derisorem, et exibit cum eo jurgium, cessabuntque causae et contumeliae.
趕出褻慢人,爭端就消除; 紛爭和羞辱也必止息。
Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop.
22:11
Qui diligit cordis munditiam, propter gratiam labiorum suorum habebit amicum regem.
喜愛清心的人因他嘴上的恩言, 王必與他為友。
He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully is the king’s friend.
22:12
Oculi Domini custodiunt scientiam, et supplantantur verba iniqui.
耶和華的眼目眷顧聰明人, 卻傾敗奸詐人的言語。
Yahweh’s eyes watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.
22:13
Dicit piger : Leo est foris ; in medio platearum occidendus sum.
懶惰人說:外頭有獅子; 我在街上就必被殺。
The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside! I will be killed in the streets!”
22:14
Fovea profunda os alienae : cui iratus est Dominus, incidet in eam.
淫婦的口為深坑; 耶和華所憎惡的,必陷在其中。
The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit. He who is under Yahweh’s wrath will fall into it.
22:15
Stultitia colligata est in corde pueri, et virga disciplinae fugabit eam.
愚蒙迷住孩童的心, 用管教的杖可以遠遠趕除。
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
22:16
Qui calumniatur pauperem ut augeat divitias suas, dabit ipse ditiori, et egebit.
欺壓貧窮為要利己的, 並送禮與富戶的,都必缺乏。
Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty.
22:17
Inclina aurem tuam, et audi verba sapientium : appone autem cor ad doctrinam meam,
你須側耳聽受智慧人的言語, 留心領會我的知識。
Turn your ear, and listen to the words of the wise. Apply your heart to my teaching.
22:18
quae pulchra erit tibi cum servaveris eam in ventre tuo, et redundabit in labiis tuis :
你若心中存記, 嘴上咬定,這便為美。
For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips.
22:19
ut sit in Domino fiducia tua, unde et ostendi eam tibi hodie.
我今日以此特特指教你, 為要使你倚靠耶和華。
I teach you today, even you, so that your trust may be in Yahweh.
22:20
Ecce descripsi eam tibi tripliciter, in cogitationibus et scientia :
謀略和知識的美事, 我豈沒有寫給你嗎?
Haven’t I written to you thirty excellent things of counsel and knowledge,
22:21
ut ostenderem tibi firmitatem et eloquia veritatis, respondere ex his illis qui miserunt te.
要使你知道真言的實理, 你好將真言回覆那打發你來的人。
To teach you truth, reliable words, to give sound answers to the ones who sent you?
22:22
Non facias violentiam pauperi quia pauper est, neque conteras egenum in porta :
貧窮人,你不可因他貧窮就搶奪他的物, 也不可在城門口欺壓困苦人;
Don’t exploit the poor because he is poor; and don’t crush the needy in court;
22:23
quia judicabit Dominus causam ejus, et configet eos qui confixerunt animam ejus.
因耶和華必為他辨屈; 搶奪他的,耶和華必奪取那人的命。
for Yahweh will plead their case, and plunder the life of those who plunder them.
22:24
Noli esse amicus homini iracundo, neque ambules cum viro furioso :
好生氣的人,不可與他結交; 暴怒的人,不可與他來往;
Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man. Don’t associate with one who harbors anger,
22:25
ne forte discas semitas ejus, et sumas scandalum animae tuae.
恐怕你效法他的行為, 自己就陷在網羅裏。
lest you learn his ways and ensnare your soul.
22:26
Noli esse cum his qui defigunt manus suas, et qui vades se offerunt pro debitis :
不要與人擊掌, 不要為欠債的作保。
Don’t you be one of those who strike hands, of those who are collateral for debts.
22:27
si enim non habes unde restituas, quid causae est ut tollat operimentum de cubili tuo ?
你若沒有甚麼償還, 何必使人奪去你睡臥的床呢?
If you don’t have means to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?
22:28
Ne transgrediaris terminos antiquos, quos posuerunt patres tui.
你先祖所立的地界, 你不可挪移。
Don’t move the ancient boundary stone which your fathers have set up.
22:29
Vidisti virum velocem in opere suo ? coram regibus stabit, nec erit ante ignobiles.
你看見辦事殷勤的人嗎? 他必站在君王面前, 必不站在下賤人面前。
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men.
