3:1
Fili mi, ne obliviscaris legis meae, et praecepta mea cor tuum custodiat :
我兒,不要忘記我的法則 ; 你心要謹守我的誡命;
My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,
3:2
longitudinem enim dierum, et annos vitae, et pacem, apponent tibi.
因為它必將長久的日子, 生命的年數與平安,加給你。
for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.
3:3
Misericordia et veritas te non deserant ; circumda eas gutturi tuo, et describe in tabulis cordis tui :
不可使慈愛、誠實離開你, 要繫在你頸項上,刻在你心版上。
Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.
3:4
et invenies gratiam, et disciplinam bonam, coram Deo et hominibus.
這樣,你必在上帝和世人眼前 蒙恩寵,有聰明。
So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
3:5
Habe fiduciam in Domino ex toto corde tuo, et ne innitaris prudentiae tuae.
你要專心仰賴耶和華, 不可倚靠自己的聰明,
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.
3:6
In omnibus viis tuis cogita illum, et ipse diriget gressus tuos.
在你一切所行的事上都要認定他, 他必指引你的路。
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
3:7
Ne sis sapiens apud temetipsum ; time Deum, et recede a malo :
不要自以為有智慧; 要敬畏耶和華,遠離惡事。
Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
3:8
sanitas quippe erit umbilico tuo, et irrigatio ossium tuorum.
這便醫治你的肚臍, 滋潤你的百骨。
It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
3:9
Honora Dominum de tua substantia, et de primitiis omnium frugum tuarum da ei :
你要以財物 和一切初熟的土產尊榮耶和華。
Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase;
3:10
et implebuntur horrea tua saturitate, et vino torcularia tua redundabunt.
這樣,你的倉房必充滿有餘; 你的酒醡有新酒盈溢。
so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
3:11
Disciplinam Domini, fili mi, ne abjicias, nec deficias cum ab eo corriperis :
我兒,你不可輕看耶和華的管教 , 也不可厭煩他的責備;
My son, don’t despise Yahweh’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;
3:12
quem enim diligit Dominus, corripit, et quasi pater in filio complacet sibi.
因為耶和華所愛的,他必責備, 正如父親責備所喜愛的兒子。
for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
3:13
Beatus homo qui invenit sapientiam, et qui affluit prudentia.
得智慧,得聰明的, 這人便為有福。
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.
3:14
Melior est acquisitio ejus negotiatione argenti, et auri primi et purissimi fructus ejus.
因為得智慧勝過得銀子, 其利益強如精金,
For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.
3:15
Pretiosior est cunctis opibus, et omnia quae desiderantur huic non valent comparari.
比珍珠 寶貴; 你一切所喜愛的,都不足與比較。
She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.
3:16
Longitudo dierum in dextera ejus, et in sinistra illius divitiae et gloria.
她右手有長壽, 左手有富貴。
Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.
3:17
Viae ejus viae pulchrae, et omnes semitae illius pacificae.
她的道是安樂; 她的路全是平安。
Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
3:18
Lignum vitae est his qui apprehenderint eam, et qui tenuerit eam beatus.
她與持守她的作生命樹; 持定她的,俱各有福。
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.
3:19
Dominus sapientia fundavit terram ; stabilivit caelos prudentia.
耶和華以智慧立地, 以聰明定天,
By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.
3:20
Sapientia illius eruperunt abyssi, et nubes rore concrescunt.
以知識使深淵裂開, 使天空滴下甘露。
By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
3:21
Fili mi, ne effluant haec ab oculis tuis. Custodi legem atque consilium,
我兒,要謹守真智慧和謀略, 不可使她離開你的眼目。
My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion,
3:22
et erit vita animae tuae, et gratia faucibus tuis.
這樣,她必作你的生命, 頸項的美飾。
so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.
3:23
Tunc ambulabis fiducialiter in via tua, et pes tuus non impinget.
你就坦然行路, 不致碰腳。
Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.
3:24
Si dormieris, non timebis ; quiesces, et suavis erit somnus tuus.
你躺下,必不懼怕; 你躺臥,睡得香甜。
When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
3:25
Ne paveas repentino terrore, et irruentes tibi potentias impiorum.
忽然來的驚恐,不要害怕; 惡人遭毀滅,也不要恐懼。
Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes;
3:26
Dominus enim erit in latere tuo, et custodiet pedem tuum, ne capiaris.
因為耶和華是你所倚靠的; 他必保守你的腳不陷入網羅。
for Yahweh will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
3:27
Noli prohibere benefacere eum qui potest : si vales, et ipse benefac.
你手若有行善的力量,不可推辭, 就當向那應得的人施行。
Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
3:28
Ne dicas amico tuo : Vade, et revertere : cras dabo tibi : cum statim possis dare.
你那裏若有現成的,不可對鄰舍說: 去吧,明天再來,我必給你。
Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you,” when you have it by you.
3:29
Ne moliaris amico tuo malum, cum ille in te habeat fiduciam.
你的鄰舍既在你附近安居, 你不可設計害他。
Don’t devise evil against your neighbor, since he dwells securely by you.
3:30
Ne contendas adversus hominem frustra, cum ipse tibi nihil mali fecerit.
人未曾加害與你, 不可無故與他相爭。
Don’t strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
3:31
Ne aemuleris hominem injustum, nec imiteris vias ejus :
不可嫉妒強暴的人, 也不可選擇他所行的路。
Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.
3:32
quia abominatio Domini est omnis illusor, et cum simplicibus sermocinatio ejus.
因為,乖僻人為耶和華所憎惡; 正直人為他所親密。
For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.
3:33
Egestas a Domino in domo impii ; habitacula autem justorum benedicentur.
耶和華咒詛惡人的家庭, 賜福與義人的居所。
Yahweh’s curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.
3:34
Ipse deludet illusores, et mansuetis dabit gratiam.
他譏誚那好譏誚的人, 賜恩給謙卑的人。
Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
3:35
Gloriam sapientes possidebunt ; stultorum exaltatio ignominia.
智慧人必承受尊榮; 愚昧人高升也成為羞辱。
The wise will inherit glory, but shame will be the promotion of fools.
