Τοῦ δ αὐτοῦ Δόμε τιανοῦ τοὺς ἀπὸ γένους Δαβὶδ ἀναιρεῖσθαι προστα ξαντος παλαιὸς κατέχει λόγος τῶν αἱρετικῶν τινα κατηγορῆσαι τῶν ἀπογόνων Ἰούδα, (τοῦτον δὲ ἀδελφὸν κατὰ σάρκα τοῦ σωτῆρος), ὡς ἀπὸ γένους τυγχανόντων Δαβὶδ, καὶ ὡς αὐτοῦ συγγένειαν τοῦ Χριστοῦ φερόντων. ταῦτα δὲ δηλοῖ κατὰ λέξιν ὧδέ πως λέγων ὁ Ἡγήσιππος·
And when this same Domitian had commanded that those of the family of David should be put to death, an ancient account holds that certain heretics accused the descendants of Jude (this man being, according to the flesh, a brother of the Saviour), on the ground that they were of the family of David and bore kinship to Christ himself. Hegesippus declares these things word for word, speaking somewhat in this way:
