47:1
Jugiter in monasterii cellula residentes visitationem Filii Dei as i- quis orationibus implorate, ut postea cum fiducia possitis dicere: Invenimus quem quæsivit anima nostra (Cant.
To the holy sisters, most greatly to be venerated in Christ, established in the monastery which by God's inspiration and help we have founded, Caesarius the bishop. Since the Lord in His mercy has deigned to inspire and help us to found a monastery for you, we have composed for you spiritual and holy admonitions as to how you ought to live in that very monastery according to the statutes of the ancient Fathers, which by God's help you may be able to keep. Dwelling continually in the cell of the monastery, implore with unceasing prayers the visitation of the Son of God, that afterward you may be able to say with confidence: 'We have found him whom our soul sought' (Song of Songs).
47:2
IIIEt ideo vos sacras virgines et Deo deditas animas rogo, quæ incensis lampadibus cum secui a conscientia Domini præstolatis adeventum, ut quia me pro constituendo vobis monasterio laborasse cognoscitis, vestri me itineris socium fieri sanctis oration bus postuletis, ut cum in regno cum sanctis ac sapientibus virginibus feliciter introibitis, me cum stul is non remanere foris vestro suffragio obtineatis: orante pro me sanctimonia vestra, ut inter pretiosis. simas Ecclesiæ gemmas micantem favor divinus ct præsentibus repleat bonis, et dignum reddat æternis.
And therefore I ask you, holy virgins and souls given over to God, who with lamps kindled await the coming of the Lord with secure conscience, that since you know I have labored to establish a monastery for you, you would ask by your holy prayers that I may become a companion of your journey, so that when you happily enter into the kingdom with the holy and wise virgins, you may obtain by your intercession that I not remain outside with the foolish: your holiness praying for me, that divine favor may fill me, gleaming among the most precious gems of the Church, both with present goods and may render me worthy of eternal ones.
