And David the king said to all the assembly: Salomon my son, the one whom the Lord has chosen, is young and tender, and the work is great; for the building is not for man but for the Lord God.
With all my strength I have prepared for the house of my God gold, silver, bronze, iron, timber, soom stones and stones for setting, costly and varied stones, every precious stone, and much Parian marble.
And moreover, because I have delighted in the house of my God, there is my own store of gold and silver; and behold, I have given it to the house of my God, for its exaltation, besides what I have prepared for the house of the holy things:
Then the heads of the ancestral houses gave willingly, and the rulers of the sons of Israel, and the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and the overseers of the works, and the king's stewards.
And they gave for the works of the house of the Lord five thousand talents of gold, and ten thousand gold pieces, and ten thousand talents of silver, and eighteen thousand talents of bronze, and a hundred thousand talents of iron.
And David the king blessed the Lord before the assembly, saying: Blessed are you, O Lord, God of Israel our father, from everlasting and to everlasting.
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the boast and the victory and the strength; for you are master of all that is in heaven and on the earth. Before your face every king and nation is troubled.
From you come riches and glory; you rule over all, O Lord, the ruler of every rule; and in your hand are strength and dominion; and in your hand, O Almighty, is it to make great and to strengthen all things.
And who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give willingly to you in this way? For all things are yours, and of your own we have given you.
And I know, O Lord, that you are the one who searches hearts, and you love righteousness. In uprightness of heart I have willingly offered all these things; and now I have seen your people who are found here offering willingly to you with gladness.
O Lord, the God of Abraham and Isaak and Israel our fathers, keep these things for ever in the thought of the heart of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.
And to Salomon my son give a good heart to do your commandments and your testimonies and your ordinances, and to bring to completion the building of your house.
And David said to all the assembly: Bless the Lord your God. And all the assembly blessed the Lord, the God of their fathers, and bowing their knees they did obeisance to the Lord and to the king.
And David sacrificed sacrifices to the Lord and offered up whole burnt offerings to God on the day after the first day: a thousand calves, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings, and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.
And they ate and drank before the Lord on that day with joy; and they made Salomon son of David king a second time, and anointed him to the Lord as ruler, and Sadok to the priesthood.
And the rest of the acts of King David, the earlier and the later, are written in the words of Samuel the seer, and in the words of Nathan the prophet, and in the words of Gad the seer,
