Τότε δὲ καὶ ἄλλη διαστροφὴ κατάρχεται, ἡ τῶν Ἑλκεσαϊτῶν λεγομένη αἵρεσις, ἣ καὶ ἅμα τῷ ἄρξασθαι ἀπέσβη. μνημονεύει δ αὐτῆς ὁμιλῶν ἐπὶ τοῦ κοινοῦ εἰς τὸν ὀγδοηκοστὸν δεύτερον ψαλμὸν ὁ Ὠριγένης, ὧδέ πως λέγων ἐλήλυθέ τις ἐπὶ τοῦ παρόντος μέγα φρονῶν ἐπὶ τῷ δύνασθαι πρεσβεύειν γνώμης ἀθέου καὶ ἀσεβεστάτης, καλουμένης Ἑλκεσαϊτῶν, νεωστὶ ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις. ἐκείνη ἡ γνώμη οἷα λέγει κακὰ, παραθήσομαι ὑμῖν) ἵνα μὴ συναρπάζησθε. ἀθετεῖ τινα ἀπὸ πάσης γραφῆς, κέχρηται ῥητοῖς πάλιν ἀπὸ πάσης παλαιᾶς τε καὶ εὐαγγελικῆς, τὸν ἀπόστολον τέλεον ἀθετεῖ. φησὶ δὲ ὅτι τὸ ἀδιάφορόν ἐστι, καὶ ὁ μὲν νοήσας τῷ στόματι ἐν ἀνάγκαις ἀρνήσεται, τῇ δὲ καρδίᾳ οὐχί. καὶ βίβλον τινὰ φέρουσιν, ἣν λέγουσιν ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καταπεπτωκέναι, καὶ τὸν ἀκηκοότα ἐκείνης καὶ πιστεύοντα ἄφεσιν λήψεσθαι τῶν ἁμαρτημάτων, ἄλλην ἄφεσιν παρ᾿ ἣν Χριστὸς Ἰησοῦς ἀφῆκε. καὶ τὰ μὲν περὶ τούτων τάδε ἐστίν.
At that time also another perversity took its beginning, the heresy called that of the Elkesaites, which also was quenched as soon as it began. Origen mentions it in a homily delivered in public on the eighty-second Psalm, saying somewhat as follows: 「Someone has come at the present time greatly priding himself on being able to champion an ungodly and most impious opinion, called that of the Elkesaites, newly arisen against the churches. What evil things that opinion says, I will set before you, that you may not be carried away. It rejects certain portions from every Scripture; again, it makes use of texts from every Scripture, both of the Old Testament and of the Gospels; the apostle it utterly rejects. And it says that to deny is a matter of indifference, and that the one who understands will, in times of necessity, deny with his mouth, but not with his heart. And they produce a certain book which they say fell from heaven, and that whoever has heard it and believes will receive forgiveness of sins—a forgiveness other than that which Christ Jesus granted.」 And the things concerning these matters are such as these.
也是在那時候，另一種乖謬開始興起，就是所謂厄勒克塞派的異端，這異端一興起便隨即熄滅了。俄利根在公眾面前就第八十二篇詩篇所講的一篇道中提到它，大致這樣說：「目前有一人前來，極自誇能為一種不敬虔、極不虔之見解辯護，那見解稱為厄勒克塞派，是新近起來敵擋眾教會的。那見解說了甚麼惡事，我要陳列在你們面前，免得你們被擄去。它從各卷聖經中棄絕某些部分，卻又取用各卷聖經——無論舊約還是福音書——的經文；它卻全然棄絕那使徒。它又說否認信仰乃是無關緊要之事，明白的人在危難之時，可用口否認，心裡卻不否認。他們又拿出某一卷書，說是從天上降下來的，並說凡聽了那書又信的人，必得罪的赦免——是有別於基督耶穌所賜之赦免的另一種赦免。」關乎這些事的情形，就是如此。
