ወኼነ ፡ ኄምዔኅሚ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ያዕቆቄ ፡ በዝኁ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ኄሔራኀል ፡ በምዔሚ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ወኼኑ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ቄዙኀ ፡ ወኼኑ ፡ ኔሎሙ ፡ ዕሩያነ ፡ በልቩሙ ፡ ኹመ ፡ ያፍቅር ፡ ኄኅው ፡ ኄኅዋሁ ፡ ወኹመ ፡ á‹­á‰”áˆ«á‹łáŠ„ ፡ ቄኄáˆČ ፡ ምሔለ ፡ ኄኁሁ ፡ ወበዝኁ ፡ ወፈዔፋዱ ፡ ጄቀ ፱
And it came to pass, after the death of Jacob, that the children of Israel multiplied in the land of Egypt, and became a great people; and they were all of one heart, so that each brother loved his brother, and each man helped his brother; and they multiplied exceedingly.

ወአልቩ ፡ ሰይጣነ ፡ ወአልቩ ፡ ምንተኒ ፡ ኄኩዚ ፡ ኔሎ ፡ መዋዕለ ፡ ሕይወቱ ፡ ለዼሮፍ ፡ ኄለ ፡ ሐይወ ፡ ኄምዔኅሚ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ያዕቆቄ ፱
And there was no Satan and no evil thing all the days of the life of Joseph which he lived after his father Jacob.

ወሞተ ፡ ዼሮፍ ፡ ወልደ ፡ ምኄቔ ፡ ወዐሠርቱ ፡ ዓመቔ ፡ ወዐሠርተ ፡ ወሰቄዐተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ነበሹ ፡ ምዔሚ ፡ ኹናአን ፡ ወዐሠርተ ፡ ዓመተ ፡ ነበሹ ፡ ኄንዘ ፡ ይቔቀነይ ፱
And Joseph died, a hundred and ten years old; seventeen years he lived in the land of Canaan, and ten years he served, and twenty-three years he was in prison, and eighty years he was under the king, ruling over all the land of Egypt.

ወሞተ ፡ ወኔሎሙ ፡ አኀዊሁ ፡ ወኔላ ፡ ይኄá‰Č ፡ ቔውልዔ ፡ 5 ወአዘዞሙ ፡ ለውሉደ ፡ ኄሔራኀል ፡ ዘኄንበለ ፡ ይሙቔ ፡ ኹመ ፡ ይሰዱ ፡ አዕጜምá‰Čሁ ፡ በመዋዕል ፡ አመ ፡ ይወፅኡ ፡ ኄምዔሚ ፡ ግቄጜ ፱
And he died, and all his brothers, and all that generation. And he commanded the children of Israel before he died, that they should carry up his bones with them when they went out from the land of Egypt.

ወአምሐሎሙ ፡ በኄንተ ፡ አዕጜምá‰Čሁ ፡ ኄሔመ ፡ አኄመሚ ፡ ኹመ ፡ ኱ይደግሙ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ አውፅኊቶ ፡ á‹ˆá‰€á‰ąáˆźá‰¶ ፡ በዕለቔ ፡ በምዔሚ ፡ ኹናአን ፱
And he made them swear concerning his bones; for he knew that the Egyptians would not again bring him out and bury him on the day in the land of Canaan.

ወሔኄነ ፡ በዊአ ፡ ኄሔመ ፡ ነግሠ ፡ ካልኄ ፡ ሐá‹Čሔ ፡ ንጉሄ ፡ ለግቄጜ ፡ ወኀዹለ ፡ ኄምኔሁ ፡ ወገቄአ ፡ ምዔሚ ፡ ኹናአን ፡ ወተዐጜወ ፡ አናቅጾ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ወአልቩ ፡ ዘይወፅኄ ፡ ወአልቩ ፡ ዘይበውኄ ፡ ውሔተ ፡ ግቄጜ ፱
And they were unable to go up, for another new king reigned over Egypt, and he was stronger than them, and he turned back to the land of Canaan, and the gates of Egypt were shut, and there was no one going out and no one coming in to Egypt.

ወሞተ ፡ ዼሮፍ ፡ በዘ ፡ አርቄዓ ፡ ወሔዔሔቱ ፡ áŠąá‹źá‰€áˆá‹‰ ፡ á‰ áˆ±á‰Łá‹” ፡ áˆłá‹”áˆ” ፡ በካልኄ ፡ ዓመቱ ፡ ወቀበርዎ ፡ ውሔተ ፡ ምዔሚ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ወሞቱ ፡ ኔሎሙ ፡ አኀዊሁ ፡ áŠ„áˆá‹”áŠ…áˆŹáˆ ፱
And Joseph died in the forty-sixth jubilee, in the sixth week, in its second year, and they buried him in the land of Egypt; and all his brothers died after him.

ወወፅአ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ኹመ ፡ ይቔቃተል ፡ ምሔለ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ኹናአን ፡ በዘ ፡ አርቄዓ ፡ ወሰቄዐቱ ፡ áŠąá‹źá‰€áˆá‹‰ ፡ በዳግም ፡ áˆ±á‰Łá‹” ፡ በካልኄ ፡ ዓመቱ ፱
And the king of Egypt went out to make war with the king of Canaan in the forty-seventh jubilee, in the second week, in its second year.

á‹ˆáŒˆá‰„áŠĄ ፡ ቄዙኃን ፡ ውሔተ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ወኅዳጣን ፡ ተርፉ ፡ ኄምኔሆሙ ፡ ውሔተ ፡ ደቄሚ ፡ áŠŹá‰„áˆźáŠ• ፡ ወተሹፈ ፡ አቄራም ፡ አቡኹ ፡ ምሔሌሆሙ ፱
And many returned into Egypt, and a few of them remained in the mountain of Hebron; and Abram your father remained with them.

ወሞአ ፡ ንጉሠ ፡ ኹናአን ፡ ለንጉሠ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡ ወዐጾወ ፡ አናቅጾ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡
And the king of Canaan prevailed over the king of Egypt, and shut the gates of Egypt.

ወኀለዹ ፡ ኅሊና ፡ ኄኩዚ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ኄሔራኀል ፡ ኹመ ፡ ያሕምሞሙ ፡ ወይቀሎሙ ፡ ለሰቄአ ፡ ግቄጜ ፡
And he devised an evil plan against the children of Israel, to afflict them; and he said to the people of Egypt,

ናሁ ፡ ሕዝበ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ኄሔራኀል ፡ ልህቁ ፡ ወበዝኁ ፡ ኄምኔነ ፡ ንዑ ፡ ንጠበቄ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ዘኄንበለ ፡ ይቄዝኁ ፡ ወናሕምሞሙ ፡ በቅኔ ፡ ዘኄንበለ ፡ ይምጜአነ ፡ ቀቔል ፡ ወኄሙንቱኒ ፡ ዘኄንበለ ፡ á‹­á…á‰„áŠĄáŠ ፡ ወኄመ ፡ አኼሰ ፡ ኄሙንቱኒ ፡ ይዎመሩ ፡ ምሔለ ፡ ፀር ፡ ወይወፅኡ ፡ ኄምዔርነ ፡ ኄሔመ ፡ ልቩሙ ፡ ወገጟሙ ፡ ውሔተ ፡ ምዔሚ ፡ ኹናአን ፡
Behold, the people of the children of Israel have grown and multiplied more than we; come, let us deal craftily with them before they multiply, and let us afflict them with bondage before war comes upon us, and before they too fight against us; otherwise they too will join with the enemy and go out from our land, for their hearts and their faces are toward the land of Canaan.

ወሠርዐ ፡ ላዕሌሆሙ ፡ ሊቃነ ፡ ገባር ፡ ኹመ ፡ ያሕምምዎሙ ፡ በቅኔ ፱
And he set over them taskmasters, to afflict them with bondage.

And they made them serve with rigour, and the more they dealt evilly with them, the more they increased and multiplied.
