There bodies indeed of different sexes, but without any bodily concupiscence, are to be. There will be perfect love of all, and no lust (Aug., On the City of God, Bk. 22, ch. 17). There too nothing of visible creation will lie hidden from the bodily eyes, because the sight of incorruptible bodies will assuredly be incorruptible; and thus beyond comparison more keen than it was here, so that nothing of visible things can be closed to it. For from bodies endowed with immortality slowness is to be taken away, not integrity; necessity, not will, so that there they may be, without delay of time or hindrance of weight, wherever they shall have willed to be;
and so the body, now spiritual, perfected by equality with angelic blessedness, may follow without any difficulty wherever the spirit shall have willed to go. Then the misery of children, parents, or spouses who are not there will not be able to sadden the blessed (Aug., Bk. 1 of Retractations, chs. 13 and 19): because the surpassing excellence of that blessedness does not admit the names of all the bodily kinships which our frailty had here: where all, whoever they shall be, will be one body, and each will rejoice in his own or in each one's happiness. Let these things said about the contemplative life suffice.
