i. Quocirca sic hort;.ndi sunt ad contemplativam vitam, quicunque plene voluerint, et Deo n auxiliante potuerint. ut meminerint sibi ipsius contemplationis divinae perfectionem, in illa beata vita quae futura est, reservari; ut ibi Deum sicuti est, perfecte vidcant,ubi et ipsi erunt vitæ alternae ac rtgni cœlestis ' consecutione perfecti. Caeterum si hic perfecte potuisset substantiam Dei humana fragilitas contemplari, nunquam sanctus evangelista dixisset: Deum nemo vidit unquam. Non dixit, Nemo videbit. Deniqno ut cvidenter ostenderet visionem Dei non negatam esse sanctis homin bus, sed dilatam, 0 quod in praesenti tempore negavit, in futuro promisit dicens:
1. Wherefore all who fully wish, and with God's help are able, are so to be exhorted to the contemplative life, that they may remember the perfection of that divine contemplation itself is reserved for them in that blessed life which is to come; so that there they may perfectly see God as he is, where they themselves also will be perfected by the attainment of eternal life and the heavenly kingdom. But if human frailty could here perfectly contemplate the substance of God, never would the holy Evangelist have said: No man hath seen God at any time. He did not say, No man shall see. Finally, in order to show evidently that the vision of God has not been denied to holy men but deferred, what he denied in the present time he promised in the future, saying:
一、所以凡全然願意、並靠神的幫助而能夠的人，都當這樣被勸勉歸向默觀的生活，叫他們記得那神聖默觀本身的成全，是為他們存留在那將要來的有福生活中的；好叫他們在那裡完全看見神的本相，他們自己也要在那裡藉著得著永生與天國而得著成全。但人的軟弱若在此能完全默觀神的本質，那聖福音書作者就決不會說：『從來沒有人看見神』。他並沒有說：『將來必沒有人看見』。末了，為要明顯地表明神的異象並非向聖徒被否決，乃是被延後，他便將在現今所否決的，應許在將來，說：

Beati mundo corde, quoniam ipsi Deum videbunt. Neque hic dixit, Quoniam ipsi Deum vident. Igitur si Deus, qui in hac vita sine alicujus elementi assumptione, nec potuit videri, nec potest, in futura vita videndus est: ibi est contemplationis divinae speranda perfectio, ubi erit bonorum omnium pie: nitudo.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Nor did he here say, For they do see God. Therefore if God, who in this life without the assumption of some element could not be seen, nor can be, is to be seen in the future life: there is the perfection of divine contemplation to be hoped for, where there will be the fullness of all good things.
『清心的人有福了，因為他們必得見神』。他在這裡並沒有說：『因為他們現今得見神』。所以神在今生若不憑藉某種元素的取用既不能被看見、也不可能被看見，而要在將來的生活中被看見：那麼默觀神之成全所當盼望的，乃是在那裡，就是必有一切美善之豐滿的地方。
