19:1
Operarius ebriosus non locupletabitur : et qui spernit modica paulatim decidet.
酗酒的工人必不致富，輕看小事的人必漸漸敗落。
A workman that is a drunkard will not become rich: He that despises small things will fall by little and little.
19:2
Vinum et mulieres apostatare faciunt sapientes, et arguent sensatos.
酒與女人使有見識的人背道，貪戀娼妓的人必越發放肆。
Wine and women will make men of understanding to fall away: And he that cleaves to harlots will be the more reckless.
19:3
Et qui se jungit fornicariis erit nequam : putredo et vermes hæreditabunt illum : et extolletur in exemplum majus, et tolletur de numero anima ejus.
腐爛與蛆蟲必承受他為業，放肆的心靈也必被剪除。
Moths and worms will have him to heritage; And a reckless soul will be taken away.
19:4
Qui credit cito levis corde est, et minorabitur : et qui delinquit in animam suam, insuper habebitur.
輕易信人的，心思輕浮；得罪自己心靈的，必陷於過犯。
He that is hasty to trust is light-minded; And he that sins will offend against his own soul.
19:5
Qui gaudet iniquitate, denotabitur : et qui odit correptionem, minuetur vita : et qui odit loquacitatem, extinguit malitiam.
心中放縱作樂的人必被定罪。
He that makes merry in his heart will be condemned:
19:6
Qui peccat in animam suam, pœnitebit : et qui jucundatur in malitia, denotabitur.
厭惡多言的人，邪惡便減少。
And he that hates talk has the less wickedness.
19:7
Ne iteres verbum nequam et durum, et non minoraberis.
絕不要重述聽來的話，你必不致受虧損。
Never repeat what is told you, And you will fare never the worse.
19:8
Amico et inimico noli narrare sensum tuum : et si est tibi delictum, noli denudare :
無論對朋友或仇敵，都不要傳述；除非說出來是有罪的，否則不要揭露。
Whether it be of friend or foe, tell it not; And unless it is a sin to you, reveal it not.
19:9
audiet enim te, et custodiet te, et quasi defendens peccatum, odiet te, et sic aderit tibi semper.
因為他聽見了你的話，便會防備你，到時候就會恨你。
For he has heard you, and observed you, And when the time comes he will hate you.
19:10
Audisti verbum adversus proximum tuum ? commoriatur in te, fidens quoniam non te dirumpet.
你聽見了一句話嗎？就讓它與你一同消逝吧；放心，它不會使你脹裂。
Hast you heard a word? let it die with you: Be of good courage, it will not burst you.
19:11
A facie verbi parturit fatuus, tamquam gemitus partus infantis.
愚人聽見一句話，便如臨產的婦人因孩子陣痛一般難受。
A fool will travail in pain with a word, As a woman in labor with a child.
19:12
Sagitta infixa femori carnis, sic verbum in corde stulti.
如同箭插在大腿的肉中，一句話卡在愚人的腹中也是如此。
As an arrow that sticks in the flesh of the thigh, So is a word in a fool’s belly.
19:13
Corripe amicum, ne forte non intellexerit, et dicat : Non feci : aut, si fecerit, ne iterum addat facere.
要責備朋友，或許他並未行過；他若行過了，免得他再犯。
Reprove a friend; it may be he did it not: And if he did something, that he may do it no more.
19:14
Corripe proximum, ne forte non dixerit : et si dixerit, ne forte iteret.
要責備鄰舍，或許他並未說過；他若說過了，免得他再說。
Reprove your neighbor; it may be he said it not: And if he has said it, that he may not say it again.
19:15
Corripe amicum, sæpe enim fit commissio :
要責備朋友，因為毀謗常有；不可輕信每句話。
Reprove a friend; for many times there is slander: And trust not every word.
19:16
et non omni verbo credas. Est qui labitur lingua, sed non ex animo :
有人失足，並非出於本心；誰沒有用舌頭犯過罪呢？
There is one that slips, and not from the heart: And who is he that has not sinned with his tongue?
19:17
quis est enim qui non deliquerit in lingua sua ? Corripe proximum antequam commineris,
威嚇鄰舍之前，要先責備他；並要遵從至高者的律法。
Reprove your neighbor before you threaten him; And give place to the law of the Most High.
19:18
et da locum timori Altissimi : quia omnis sapientia timor Dei, et in illa timere Deum, et in omni sapientia dispositio legis.
要讓位給對至高者的敬畏；因為一切智慧就是敬畏神，在智慧中就有敬畏神，凡智慧之中都有律法的安排。
And give place to the fear of the Most High; for all wisdom is the fear of God, and in it is the fear of God, and in all wisdom is the ordering of the law.
19:20
Est nequitia, et in ipsa execratio, et est insipiens qui minuitur sapientia.
一切智慧就是敬畏主，凡智慧之中都有律法的遵行。
All wisdom is the fear of the Lord; And in all wisdom is the doing of the law.
19:21
Melior est homo qui minuitur sapientia, et deficiens sensu, in timore, quam qui abundat sensu, et transgreditur legem Altissimi.
在敬畏中智慧減少、悟性不足的人，勝過那悟性豐富卻違背至高者律法的人。
Better is the man who is diminished in wisdom and lacking in understanding, yet in the fear of God, than one who abounds in understanding yet transgresses the law of the Most High.
19:22
Est solertia certa, et ipsa iniqua :
通曉邪惡的知識並非智慧，罪人的精明也非真謀略。
And the knowledge of wickedness is not wisdom; And the prudence of sinners is not counsel.
19:23
et est qui emittit verbum certum enarrans veritatem. Est qui nequiter humiliat se, et interiora ejus plena sunt dolo :
有一種狡詐，乃是可憎的；也有一種愚人，是缺乏智慧的。
There is a wickedness, and the same is abomination; And there is a fool lacking in wisdom.
19:24
et est qui se nimium submittit a multa humilitate : et est qui inclinat faciem suam, et fingit se non videre quod ignoratum est :
見識不多卻心存敬畏的人，勝過精明過人卻違背律法的人。
Better is one that has small understanding, and fears, Than one that has much prudence, and transgresses the law.
19:25
et si ab imbecillitate virium vetetur peccare, si invenerit tempus malefaciendi, malefaciet.
有一種精巧的狡詐，乃是不義的；也有人扭曲恩惠，為要得著有利的判決。
There is an exquisite subtlety, and the same is unjust; And there is one that perverteth favor to gain a judgement.
19:26
Ex visu cognoscitur vir, et ab occursu faciei cognoscitur sensatus.
有人行惡卻愁眉苦臉、屈身佯裝哀傷，內裡卻充滿詭詐。
There is one that does wickedly, that hangs down his head with mourning; But inwardly he is full of deceit,
19:27
Amictus corporis, et risus dentium, et ingressus hominis, enuntiant de illo.
他低垂著臉，假裝充耳不聞；在無人認識他的地方，他必先下手害你。
Bowing down his face, and making as if he were deaf of one ear: Where he is not known, he will be beforehand with you.
19:28
Est correptio mendax in ira contumeliosi, et est judicium quod non probatur esse bonum : et est tacens, et ipse est prudens.
他若因力量不足而被攔阻不能犯罪，一旦得了機會，必行惡事。
And if for lack of power he be hindered from sinning, If he find opportunity, he will do mischief.
