32:1
Rectorem te posuerunt ? noli extolli : esto in illis quasi unus ex ipsis.
他們立你為筵席的主席嗎？不要自高；你在他們中間要如同他們的一員。先顧念他們，然後才入席。
Have they made you ruler of a feast? Be not lifted up, Be you among them as one of them; Take thought for them, and so sit down.
32:2
Curam illorum habe, et sic conside, et omni cura tua explicita recumbe :
等你盡了你一切的職責，才入座，好叫你因他們而歡喜，並因安排得宜而得着冠冕。
And when you have done all your office, take your place, That you may be gladdened on their account, And receive a crown for your well ordering.
32:3
ut læteris propter illos, et ornamentum gratiæ accipias coronam, et dignationem consequaris corrogationis.
年長的人哪，你說話吧，這是合宜的，但要憑著確切的見識，不要妨礙音樂。
Speak, you that are the elder, for it becomes you, but with sound knowledge; And hinder not music.
32:4
Loquere major natu : decet enim te
有人在奏樂的時候，不要傾倒言語；也不要不合時宜地賣弄智慧。
Pour not out talk where there is a performance of music, And display not your wisdom out of season.
32:5
primum verbum diligenti scientia, et non impedias musicam.
金鑲座上的紅寶石印戒怎樣，酒宴中的合奏音樂也怎樣。
As a signet of carbuncle in a setting of gold, So is a concert of music in a banquet of wine.
32:6
Ubi auditus non est, non effundas sermonem, et importune noli extolli in sapientia tua.
金器上的綠寶石印戒怎樣，配著美酒的樂曲也怎樣。
As a signet of emerald in a work of gold, So is a strain of music with pleasant wine.
32:7
Gemmula carbunculi in ornamento auri, et comparatio musicorum in convivio vini.
年輕人哪，若有需要你說話，你才說，就是被再三詢問時，也只略略開口。
Speak, young man, if there be need of you; Yet scarcely if you be twice asked.
32:8
Sicut in fabricatione auri signum est smaragdi, sic numerus musicorum in jucundo et moderato vino.
用少許話語總括許多事；要像知道卻同時緘默的人。
Sum up your speech, many things in few words; Be as one that knows and yet holds his tongue.
32:9
Audi tacens, et pro reverentia accedet tibi bona gratia.
在尊貴人中間，不要把自己當作與他們同等；別人說話時，不要喋喋多言。
If you be among great men, behave not as their equal; And when another is speaking, make not much babbling.
32:10
Adolescens, loquere in tua causa vix.
閃電在雷聲之前急速發出；恩寵也在謙遜知恥的人之前先行。
Before thunder speedeth lightning; And before a shamefast man favor shall go forth.
32:11
Si bis interrogatus fueris, habeat caput responsum tuum.
到了時候就起身，不要落在最後；快快回家去，不要遲延閒蕩。
Rise up betimes, and be not the last; Get you home quickly and loiter not:
32:12
In multis esto quasi inscius, et audi tacens simul et quærens.
在那裡盡情玩樂，照你心中所想的去做，但不要因驕傲的言語而犯罪。
There take your pastime, and do what is in your heart; And sin not by proud speech:
32:13
In medio magnatorum non præsumas : et ubi sunt senes non multum loquaris.
為這一切事，要稱頌那造你的主，就是那將祂的美物豐豐富富賜你暢飲的。
And for these things bless him that made you, And gives you to drink freely of his good things.
32:14
Ante grandinem præibit coruscatio : et ante verecundiam præibit gratia, et pro reverentia accedet tibi bona gratia.
敬畏主的，必領受祂的管教；那些清晨切切尋求祂的，必尋得祂的喜悅。
He that fears the Lord will receive his discipline; And those who seek him early shall find favor.
32:15
Et hora surgendi non te trices : præcurre autem prior in domum tuam, et illic avocare, et illic lude,
尋求律法的人，必因律法得着飽足；偽善的人卻必在其中絆跌。
He that seeks the law shall be filled therewith: But the hypocrite shall stumble thereat.
32:16
et age conceptiones tuas, et non in delictis et verbo superbo :
敬畏主的人，必尋得公正的判斷，又使公義的行為如光發出。
They that fear the Lord shall find judgement, And shall kindle righteous acts as a light.
32:17
et super his omnibus benedicito Dominum, qui fecit, et inebriantem te ab omnibus bonis suis.
有罪的人躲避責備，按自己的心意尋找對自己有利的論斷。
A sinful man shunneth reproof, And will find a judgement according to his will.
32:18
Qui timet Dominum excipiet doctrinam ejus : et qui vigilaverint ad illum invenient benedictionem.
有計謀的人不會忽略思慮；狂妄驕傲的人卻不肯心存敬畏。
A man of counsel will not neglect a thought; A strange and proud man will not crouch in fear, Even after he has done a thing by himself without counsel.
32:19
Qui quærit legem replebitur ab ea, et qui insidiose agit scandalizabitur in ea.
凡事沒有商議，不要去做；既已行了，就不要懊悔。
Do nothing without counsel; And when you have once done, repent not.
32:20
Qui timent Dominum invenient judicium justum, et justitias quasi lumen accendent.
不要走在多有絆腳之物的路上，也不要在石頭叢中失足。
Go not in a way of conflict; And stumble not in stony places.
32:21
Peccator homo vitabit correptionem, et secundum voluntatem suam inveniet comparationem.
在看似平坦的路上，也不要過於自信。
Be not confident in a smooth way.
32:22
Vir consilii non disperdet intelligentiam : alienus et superbus non pertimescet timorem :
連對你自己的兒女，也要謹慎防備。
And beware of your own children.
32:23
etiam postquam fecit cum eo sine consilio, et suis insectationibus arguetur.
凡事都要信靠你自己的心靈，因為這也是遵守誡命。
In every work trust your own soul; For this is the keeping of the commandments.
32:24
Fili, sine consilio nihil facias, et post factum non pœnitebis.
信靠律法的，必留意誡命；倚靠主的，必不致虧損。
He that believes the law gives heed to the commandment; And he that trusts in the Lord shall suffer no loss.
