6:1
Noli fieri pro amico inimicus proximo : improperium enim et contumeliam malus hæreditabit : et omnis peccator invidus et bilinguis.
不要從朋友變為仇敵;惡名要承受羞愧與辱罵,口是心非的罪人也是如此。
And instead of a friend become not an enemy; For an evil name will inherit shame and reproach: Even so will the sinner that has a double tongue.
6:2
Non te extollas in cogitatione animæ tuæ velut taurus, ne forte elidatur virtus tua per stultitiam :
不要在你心靈的籌算中高抬自己,免得你的性命像公牛一樣被撕裂。
Exalt not yourself in the counsel of your soul; That your soul be not torn in pieces as a bull:
6:3
et folia tua comedat, et fructus tuos perdat, et relinquaris velut lignum aridum in eremo.
你要喫盡自己的葉子,毀掉自己的果子,使自己成為一棵枯乾的樹。
You will eat up your leaves, and destroy your fruits, And leave yourself as a dry tree.
6:4
Anima enim nequam disperdet qui se habet, et in gaudium inimicis dat illum, et deducet in sortem impiorum.
邪惡的心靈必毀滅擁有它的人,使他成為仇敵譏笑的對象。
A wicked soul will destroy him that has gotten it, And will make him a laughing stock to his enemies.
6:5
Verbum dulce multiplicat amicos et mitigat inimicos, et lingua eucharis in bono homine abundat.
甘甜的言語使人增添朋友,善言的舌頭使人多得親切的問候。
Sweet words will multiply a man’s friends; And a fair-speaking tongue will multiply courtesies.
6:6
Multi pacifici sint tibi : et consiliarius sit tibi unus de mille.
與你和睦相處的人可以眾多,但作你謀士的,千人中也只當有一個。
Let those that are at peace with you be many; But your counselors one of a thousand.
6:7
Si possides amicum, in tentatione posside eum, et ne facile credas ei.
你若要結交朋友,就要在試煉中結交他,不要急於信任他。
If you would get you a friend, get him by proving, And be not in haste to trust him.
6:8
Est enim amicus secundum tempus suum, et non permanebit in die tribulationis.
因為有一種朋友只在順境時與你相好,到你患難之日卻不肯與你長久同在。
For there is a friend that is so for his own occasion; And he will not continue in the day of your affliction.
6:9
Et est amicus qui convertitur ad inimicitiam, et est amicus qui odium et rixam et convitia denudabit.
也有一種朋友轉為仇敵,並要揭露爭端來羞辱你。
And there is a friend that turns to enmity; And he will discover strife to your reproach.
6:10
Est autem amicus socius mensæ, et non permanebit in die necessitatis.
還有一種朋友只是同席的伴侶,到你患難之日卻不肯與你長久同在。
And there is a friend that is a companion at the table; And he will not continue in the day of your affliction.
6:11
Amicus si permanserit fixus, erit tibi quasi coæqualis, et in domesticis tuis fiducialiter aget.
在你興盛時,他像你一樣自得,並向你的僕人放肆。
And in your prosperity he will be as yourself, And will be bold over your servants:
6:12
Si humiliaverit se contra te, et a facie tua absconderit se, unanimem habebis amicitiam bonam.
你若被貶低,他必與你為敵,並從你面前隱藏自己。
If you shall be brought low, he will be against you, And will hide himself from your face.
6:13
Ab inimicis tuis separare, et ab amicis tuis attende.
你要與仇敵分別,對朋友也要謹慎。
Separate yourself from your enemies; And beware of your friends.
6:14
Amicus fidelis protectio fortis : qui autem invenit illum, invenit thesaurum.
忠信的朋友是堅固的庇護,尋得他的人就尋得了寶藏。
A faithful friend is a strong defence; And he that has found him has found a treasure.
6:15
Amico fideli nulla est comparatio, et non est digna ponderatio auri et argenti contra bonitatem fidei illius.
忠信的朋友是無可交換的,他的美善無從衡量。
There is nothing that can be taken in exchange for a faithful friend; And his excellency is beyond price.
6:16
Amicus fidelis medicamentum vitæ et immortalitatis : et qui metuunt Dominum, invenient illum.
忠信的朋友是生命的良藥,敬畏主的人必能尋得他。
A faithful friend is a medicine of life; And those who fear the Lord will find him.
6:17
Qui timet Deum æque habebit amicitiam bonam, quoniam secundum illum erit amicus illius.
敬畏主的人能正確地引導他的友誼,因為他怎樣為人,他的鄰舍也是如此。
He that fears the Lord directs his friendship aright; For as he is, so is his neighbor also.
6:18
Fili, a juventute tua excipe doctrinam, et usque ad canos invenies sapientiam.
孩子啊,從你年幼時就要採納教誨,直到髮白之日,你必尋得智慧。
My son, gather instruction from your youth up: And even to hoar hairs you will find wisdom.
6:19
Quasi is qui arat et seminat accede ad eam, et sustine bonos fructus illius.
你要像耕田撒種的人一樣親近她,等候她美好的果子;因為你在耕耘她時只需稍稍勞苦,便很快能喫到她的出產。
Come to her as one that plows and sows, And wait for her good fruits; For your toil will be little in the tillage of her, And you will eat of her fruits right soon.
6:20
In opere enim ipsius exiguum laborabis, et cito edes de generationibus illius.
她對無學識的人是何等的崎嶇難行,沒有見識的人不能在她裡面持守。
How exceeding harsh is she to the unlearned! And he that is without understanding will not abide in her.
6:21
Quam aspera est nimium sapientia indoctis hominibus ! et non permanebit in illa excors.
她像一塊試煉的重石壓在他身上,他便毫不遲延地將她拋棄。
As a mighty stone of trial will she rest upon him; And he will not delay to cast her from him.
6:22
Quasi lapidis virtus probatio erit in illis : et non demorabuntur projicere illam.
因為智慧名實相符,她不向許多人顯明。
For wisdom is according to her name; and she is not manifest to many.
6:23
Sapientia enim doctrinæ secundum nomen est ejus, et non est multis manifestata : quibus autem cognita est, permanet usque ad conspectum Dei.
孩子啊,要側耳聽,接受我的見解,不要拒絕我的勸告。
Give ear, my son, and accept my judgement, And refuse not my counsel,
6:24
Audi, fili, et accipe consilium intellectus, et ne abjicias consilium meum.
要把你的腳放入她的腳鐐,把你的頸項放入她的軛環。
And bring your feet into her fetters, And your neck into her chain.
6:25
Injice pedem tuum in compedes illius, et in torques illius collum tuum.
要俯下你的肩膀去擔負她,不要因她的束縛而厭煩。
Put your shoulder under her, and bear her, And be not grieved with her bonds.
6:26
Subjice humerum tuum, et porta illam, et ne acedieris vinculis ejus.
要全心親近她,竭盡全力謹守她的道路。
Come to her with all your soul, And keep her ways with your whole power.
6:27
In omni animo tuo accede ad illam, et in omni virtute tua conserva vias ejus.
你要尋訪查考,她必向你顯明;你既得著她,就不要放手。
Search, and seek, and she will be made known to you; And when you have got hold of her, let her not go.
6:28
Investiga illam, et manifestabitur tibi : et continens factus, ne derelinquas eam :
因為你終必尋得她的安息,她也必轉而成為你的喜樂。
For at the last you will find her rest; And she will be turned for you into gladness.
6:29
in novissimis enim invenies requiem in ea, et convertetur tibi in oblectationem.
她的腳鐐必成為你力量的遮蔽,她的軛環必成為你榮耀的袍子。
And her fetters will be to you for a covering of strength, And her chains for a robe of glory.
6:30
Et erunt tibi compedes ejus in protectionem fortitudinis et bases virtutis, et torques illius in stolam gloriæ :
因為她身上有金的裝飾,她的束縛是紫藍的編帶。
For there is a golden ornament upon her, And her bands are a riband of blue.
6:31
decor enim vitæ est in illa, et vincula illius alligatura salutaris.
你要把她當作榮耀的袍子穿上,當作歡騰的冠冕戴在頭上。
You shall put her on as a robe of glory, And shall array you with her as a crown of rejoicing.
6:32
Stolam gloriæ indues eam, et coronam gratulationis superpones tibi.
孩子啊,你若願意,就必受教導;你若肯獻上心志,就必精明。
My son, if you will, you shall be instructed; And if you will yield your soul, you will be prudent.
6:33
Fili, si attenderis mihi, disces : et si accommodaveris animum tuum, sapiens eris.
你若喜愛聆聽,就必有所領受;你若側耳而聽,就必得智慧。
If you love to hear, you will receive; And if you incline your ear, you will be wise.
6:34
Si inclinaveris aurem tuam, excipies doctrinam : et si dilexeris audire, sapiens eris.
你要站在眾長者之中,誰有智慧,就當親近他。
Stand you in the multitude of the elders; And whoso is wise, cleave you to him.
6:35
In multitudine presbyterorum prudentium sta, et sapientiæ illorum ex corde conjungere, ut omnem narrationem Dei possis audire, et proverbia laudis non effugiant a te.
凡屬神的教誨,你都要樂於聆聽,不要讓有見識的箴言從你溜走。
Be willing to listen to every godly discourse; And don’t let the proverbs of understanding escape you.
6:36
Et si videris sensatum, evigila ad eum, et gradus ostiorum illius exterat pes tuus.
你若見有見識的人,就當清早去就近他,讓你的腳踏破他門前的臺階。
If you see a man of understanding, get you betimes to him, And let your foot wear out the steps of his doors.
6:37
Cogitatum tuum habe in præceptis Dei, et in mandatis illius maxime assiduus esto : et ipse dabit tibi cor, et concupiscentia sapientiæ dabitur tibi.
你要默想主的律例,常常思想他的誡命;他必堅固你的心,並將你所渴慕的智慧賜給你。
Let your mind dwell upon the ordinances of the Lord, And meditate continually in his commandments: He will establish your heart, And your desire of wisdom will be given to you.
