17:1
Deus creavit de terra hominem, et secundum imaginem suam fecit illum :
主從塵土造了人,又使他歸回塵土。
The Lord created man of the earth, And turned him back to it again.
17:2
et iterum convertit illum in ipsam, et secundum se vestivit illum virtute.
他賜給他們有限的日子和定期,又賜給他們權柄管理地上的萬物。
He gave them days by number, and a set time, And gave them authority over the things that are thereon.
17:3
Numerum dierum et tempus dedit illi, et dedit illi potestatem eorum quæ sunt super terram.
他照自己的樣式賜他們力量,照自己的形像造了他們。
He endued them with strength proper to them; And made them according to his own image.
17:4
Posuit timorem illius super omnem carnem, et dominatus est bestiarum et volatilium.
他使一切血肉之軀都懼怕人,又使人管轄走獸飛鳥。
He put the fear of man upon all flesh, And gave him to have dominion over beasts and fowls.
17:5
Creavit ex ipso adjutorium simile sibi : consilium, et linguam, et oculos, et aures, et cor dedit illis excogitandi, et disciplina intellectus replevit illos.
他從人自身造了與他相似的幫手,並賜給他們思慮、言語、眼、耳,和能思考的心,又以悟性的訓誨充滿他們。
He created out of him a help like himself; he gave them counsel and a tongue and eyes and ears and a heart to think with, and he filled them with the discipline of understanding.
17:6
Creavit illis scientiam spiritus, sensu implevit cor illorum, et mala et bona ostendit illis.
他賜給他們思慮、舌頭、眼睛、耳朵和心,使他們能領悟。
Counsel, and tongue, and eyes, Ears, and heart, gave he them to understand withal.
17:7
Posuit oculum suum super corda illorum, ostendere illis magnalia operum suorum :
他以智慧的知識充滿他們,將善與惡指示他們。
He filled them with the knowledge of wisdom, And showed them good and evil.
17:8
ut nomen sanctificationis collaudent, et gloriari in mirabilibus illius ; ut magnalia enarrent operum ejus.
他把眼目放在他們心上,向他們顯明他作為的尊大。
He set his eye upon their hearts, To show them the majesty of his works.
17:9
Addidit illis disciplinam, et legem vitæ hæreditavit illos.
他將訓誨加給他們,又使他們承受生命的律法為產業。
He added to them discipline, and gave them the law of life for an inheritance.
17:10
Testamentum æternum constituit cum illis, et justitiam et judicia sua ostendit illis.
他們要頌讚他至聖的名,好叫他們述說他作為的尊大。
And they will praise the name of his holiness, That they may declare the majesty of his works.
17:11
Et magnalia honoris ejus vidit oculus illorum, et honorem vocis audierunt aures illorum. Et dixit illis : Attendite ab omni iniquo.
他將知識加給他們,又賜給他們生命的律法為基業。
He added to them knowledge, And gave them a law of life for a heritage.
17:12
Et mandavit illis unicuique de proximo suo.
他與他們立永遠的約,將他的典章指示他們。
He made an everlasting covenant with them, And showed them his judgements.
17:13
Viæ illorum coram ipso sunt semper : non sunt absconsæ ab oculis ipsius.
他們親眼看見他榮耀的尊大,親耳聽見他聲音的榮耀。
Their eyes saw the majesty of his glory; And their ear heard the glory of his voice.
17:14
In unamquamque gentem præposuit rectorem :
他對他們說:『要遠避一切不義』,又吩咐他們各人善待自己的鄰舍。
And he said to them, Beware of all unrighteousness; And he gave them commandment, each man concerning his neighbor.
17:15
et pars Dei Israël facta est manifesta.
他們的道路常在他面前,總不能從他眼前隱藏。
Their ways are ever before him; They will not be hid from his eyes.
17:16
Et omnia opera illorum velut sol in conspectu Dei : et oculi ejus sine intermissione inspicientes in viis eorum.
他們一切的作為都如同日光顯在神面前,他的眼目也不住地鑒察他們的道路。
And all their works are like the sun in the sight of God, and his eyes look without ceasing upon their ways.
17:17
Non sunt absconsa testamenta per iniquitatem illorum, et omnes iniquitates eorum in conspectu Dei.
他為各國立了治理者,惟有以色列是主的分。
For every nation he appointed a ruler; And Israel is the Lord’s portion.
17:18
Eleemosyna viri quasi signaculum cum ipso, et gratiam hominis quasi pupillam conservabit.
人的施捨在主看來如同印記,他必保守人的恩慈,如同保守眼中的瞳人。
A man's almsgiving is as a seal with him, and he will preserve a man's kindness as the apple of his eye.
17:19
Et postea resurget, et retribuet illis retributionem, unicuique in caput ipsorum, et convertet in interiores partes terræ.
他們一切的作為都如同日光顯在他面前,他的眼目也不住地察看他們的道路。
All their works are as the sun before him; And his eyes are continually upon their ways.
17:20
Pœnitentibus autem dedit viam justitiæ, et confirmavit deficientes sustinere, et destinavit illis sortem veritatis.
他們的不義不能向他隱藏,他們一切的罪都在主面前。
Their iniquities are not hid from him; And all their sins are before the Lord.
17:21
Convertere ad Dominum, et relinque peccata tua :
你當歸向主,撇棄你的罪。
Turn to the Lord, and forsake your sins.
17:22
precare ante faciem Domini, et minue offendicula.
在他那裡,人的施捨如同印記,他必保守人的恩惠如同眼中的瞳人。
With him the alms of a man is as a signet; And he will keep the bounty of a man as the apple of the eye.
17:23
Revertere ad Dominum, et avertere ab injustitia tua, et nimis odito execrationem :
此後他必興起施行報應,將他們的報應歸到他們頭上。
Afterwards he will rise up and recompense them, And render their recompense upon their head.
17:24
et cognosce justitias et judicia Dei, et sta in sorte propositionis, et orationis altissimi Dei.
然而對悔改的人,他賜下回轉之路,並安慰那些失去忍耐的人。
Howbeit to those who repent he granteth a return; And he comforteth those who are losing patience.
17:25
In partes vade sæculi sancti, cum vivis et dantibus confessionem Deo.
你要歸向主,撇棄罪惡;要在他面前祈求,減少你的過犯。
Return to the Lord, and forsake sins: Make your prayer before his face, and lessen the offence.
17:26
Non demoreris in errore impiorum : ante mortem confitere : a mortuo, quasi nihil, perit confessio.
你要回轉歸向至高者,遠離不義,極其憎惡可憎之事。
Turn again to the Most High, and turn away from iniquity; And greatly hate the abominable thing.
17:27
Confiteberis vivens, vivus et sanus confiteberis : et laudabis Deum, et gloriaberis in miserationibus illius.
在陰間,誰能代替活人向至高者獻上頌讚與感謝呢?
Who will give praise to the Most High in the grave, Instead of them which live and return thanks?
17:28
Quam magna misericordia Domini, et propitiatio illius convertentibus ad se !
死人的感謝已歸於無有,如同已不存在;惟有活著健康的人才能頌讚主。
Thanksgiving perishes from the dead, as from one that is not: He that is in life and health will praise the Lord.
17:29
Nec enim omnia possunt esse in hominibus, quoniam non est immortalis filius hominis, et in vanitate malitiæ placuerunt.
主的憐憫何等浩大,他向歸向他之人的赦免又是何等廣大!
How great is the mercy of the Lord, And his forgiveness to those who turn to him!
17:30
Quid lucidius sole ? et hic deficiet ; aut quid nequius quam quod excogitavit caro et sanguis ? et hoc arguetur.
因為人不能擁有一切,畢竟人子並非不朽。
For all things can’t be in men, Because the son of man is not immortal.
17:31
Virtutem altitudinis cæli ipse conspicit : et omnes homines terra et cinis.
有什麼比日頭更明亮?這日頭尚且要虧蝕;血肉之軀更要思想邪惡。
What is brighter than the sun? yet this fails: And an evil man will think on flesh and blood.
