21:1
Fili, peccasti, non adjicias iterum : sed et de pristinis deprecare, ut tibi dimittantur.
孩子啊，你犯了罪嗎？不要再犯，並要為你從前的罪祈求。
My son, have you sinned? add no more thereto; And make supplication for your former sins.
21:2
Quasi a facie colubri fuge peccata : et si accesseris ad illa, suscipient te.
要逃避罪惡，如同逃避蛇面；你若就近它，它必咬你；它的牙如獅子的牙，能殺滅人的性命。
Flee from sin as from the face of a serpent; For if you draw near it will bite you: The teeth thereof are the teeth of a lion, Slaying the souls of men.
21:3
Dentes leonis dentes ejus, interficientes animas hominum.
一切不法之事都像兩刃的刀，它所造成的傷無從醫治。
All iniquity is as a two-edged sword; Its stroke has no healing.
21:4
Quasi rhomphæa bis acuta omnis iniquitas : plagæ illius non est sanitas.
恐嚇與暴行必使財富化為烏有，照樣，狂傲人的家也必荒涼。
Terror and violence will lay waste riches; So the house of a haughty man will be laid waste.
21:5
Objurgatio et injuriæ annullabunt substantiam, et domus quæ nimis locuples est annullabitur superbia : sic substantia superbi eradicabitur.
窮人口中的祈求達到主的耳中，他所受的伸冤也必迅速臨到。
Supplication from a poor man’s mouth reaches to the ears of God, And his judgement comes speedily.
21:6
Deprecatio pauperis ex ore usque ad aures ejus perveniet, et judicium festinato adveniet illi.
厭惡責備的人行在罪人的路上，敬畏主的人卻必心裡回轉。
One that hates reproof is in the path of the sinner; And he that fears the Lord will turn again in his heart.
21:7
Qui odit correptionem vestigium est peccatoris, et qui timet Deum convertetur ad cor suum.
口才便給的人遠近皆知，有見識的人卻知道何時當謹慎自己的失足。
He that is mighty in tongue is known afar off: But the man of understanding knows when he slips.
21:8
Notus a longe potens lingua audaci, et sensatus scit labi se ab ipso.
用別人錢財建造房屋的人，如同積聚石頭預備自己的墳墓。
He that builds his house with other men’s money Is like one that gathers himself stones against winter.
21:9
Qui ædificat domum suam impendiis alienis, quasi qui colligit lapides suos in hieme.
不法之徒的聚集如同纏在一起的麻屑，他們的結局乃是火焰。
The congregation of wicked men is as tow wrapped together; And the end of them is a flame of fire.
21:10
Stupa collecta synagoga peccantium, et consummatio illorum flamma ignis.
罪人的道路用石頭鋪得平坦，其盡頭卻是陰間的深坑。
The way of sinners is made smooth with stones; And at the last end thereof is the pit of Hades.
21:11
Via peccatorum complanata lapidibus : et in fine illorum inferi, et tenebræ, et pœnæ.
遵守律法的人能掌握律法的本意，敬畏主的盡頭就是智慧。
He that keeps the law becomes master of the intent thereof; And the end of the fear of the Lord is wisdom.
21:12
Qui custodit justitiam, continebit sensum ejus.
不精明的人不能受教，但也有一種精明使苦毒增多。
He that is not clever will not be instructed; And there is a cleverness which makes bitterness to abound.
21:13
Consummatio timoris Dei, sapientia et sensus.
智慧人的知識必如洪水漲溢，他的謀略如同生命的泉源。
The knowledge of a wise man will be made to abound as a flood; And his counsel as a fountain of life.
21:14
Non erudietur qui non est sapiens in bono.
愚人的內裡如同破裂的器皿，必不能存留任何知識。
The inward parts of a fool are like a broken vessel; And he will hold no knowledge.
21:15
Est autem sapientia quæ abundat in malo, et non est sensus ubi est amaritudo.
有見識的人聽見智慧之言，便稱讚它，並有所增益；放縱的人聽了卻不喜悅，便把它丟在背後。
If a man of knowledge hear a wise word, He will commend it, and add to it: The dissolute man hears it, and it displeases him, And he puts it away behind his back.
21:16
Scientia sapientis tamquam inundatio abundabit, et consilium illius sicut fons vitæ permanet.
愚人的言談如同路上的重擔，智慧人的嘴脣卻顯出恩惠。
The discourse of a fool is like a burden in the way; But grace will be found on the lips of the wise.
21:17
Cor fatui quasi vas confractum, et omnem sapientiam non tenebit.
明智人的口在會眾中為人所求，眾人也必把他的話放在心裡思想。
The mouth of the prudent man will be sought for in the congregation; And they will ponder his words in their heart.
21:18
Verbum sapiens quodcumque audierit scius, laudabit, et ad se adjiciet : audivit luxuriosus, et displicebit illi, et projiciet illud post dorsum suum.
如同毀壞的房屋，智慧對愚人也是如此；無知者的知識不過是無意義的言語。
As a house that is destroyed, so is wisdom to a fool; And the knowledge of an unwise man is as talk without sense.
21:19
Narratio fatui quasi sarcina in via : nam in labiis sensati invenietur gratia.
訓誨對無知的人如同腳上的鐐銬，又如右手上的手銬。
Instruction is as fetters on the feet of an unwise man, And as manacles on the right hand.
21:20
Os prudentis quæritur in ecclesia, et verba illius cogitabunt in cordibus suis.
愚人縱聲大笑，精明的人卻只是悄然微笑。
A fool lifts up his voice with laughter; But a clever man will scarce smile quietly.
21:21
Tamquam domus exterminata, sic fatuo sapientia : et scientia insensati inenarrabilia verba.
訓誨對明智人如同金的裝飾，又如右臂上的鐲子。
Instruction is to a prudent man as an ornament of gold, And as a bracelet upon his right arm.
21:22
Compedes in pedibus, stulto doctrina : et quasi vincula manuum super manum dextram.
愚人的腳貿然踏入別人的家，閱歷豐富的人卻以此為羞。
The foot of a fool is soon in another man’s house; But a man of experience will be ashamed of entering.
21:23
Fatuus in risu exaltat vocem suam : vir autem sapiens vix tacite ridebit.
愚妄人從門口窺探別人的家，受過教導的人卻站在門外。
A foolish man peepeth in from the door of another man’s house; But a man that is instructed will stand without.
21:24
Ornamentum aureum prudenti doctrina, et quasi brachiale in brachio dextro.
在門口偷聽是人缺乏教養的表現，明智人卻以這羞辱為苦。
It is a lack of instruction in a man to listen at the door; But the prudent man will be grieved with the disgrace.
21:25
Pes fatui facilis in domum proximi : et homo peritus confundetur a persona potentis.
外人的嘴脣只談論這些事，明智人的言語卻要放在天平上稱量。
The lips of strangers will be grieved at these things; But the words of prudent men will be weighed in the balance.
21:26
Stultus a fenestra respiciet in domum : vir autem eruditus foris stabit.
愚人的心在他口中，智慧人的口卻在他心中。
The heart of fools is in their mouth; But the mouth of wise men is their heart.
21:27
Stultitia hominis auscultare per ostium : et prudens gravabitur contumelia.
不敬虔的人咒詛撒但時，其實是在咒詛自己的心靈。
When the ungodly curses Satan, He curses his own soul.
21:28
Labia imprudentium stulta narrabunt ; verba autem prudentium statera ponderabuntur.
搬弄是非的人玷污自己的心靈，無論寄居何處都被人憎恨。
A whisperer defiles his own soul, And will be hated wherever he sojourneth.
