27:1
Propter inopiam multi deliquerunt : et qui quærit locupletari avertit oculum suum.
許多人為財利犯罪,貪圖多得的人必轉眼不顧公義。
Many have sinned for a thing indifferent; And he that seeks to multiply gain will turn his eye away.
27:2
Sicut in medio compaginis lapidum palus figitur, sic et inter medium venditionis et emptionis angustiabitur peccatum :
釘子緊插在石頭的縫隙之間,照樣,罪也夾在買賣之間。
A nail will stick fast between the joinings of stones; And sin will thrust itself in between buying and selling.
27:3
conteretur cum delinquente delictum.
人若不殷勤持守敬畏主的心,他的家必迅速傾覆。
Unless a man hold on diligently in the fear of the Lord, His house will soon be overthrown.
27:4
Si non in timore Domini tenueris te instanter, cito subvertetur domus tua.
篩子搖動時,糠秕便留下;照樣,人的污穢也在他的言談中顯露。
In the shaking of a sieve, the refuse remains; So the filth of man in his reasoning.
27:5
Sicut in percussura cribri remanebit pulvis, sic aporia hominis in cogitatu illius.
窯爐試驗陶匠的器皿,言談也試驗人。
The furnace will prove the potter’s vessels; And the trial of a man is in his reasoning.
27:6
Vasa figuli probat fornax, et homines justos tentatio tribulationis.
樹上的果子顯明栽種的工夫,人心中所思想的也藉言語顯露。
The fruit of a tree declares the husbandry thereof; So is the utterance of the thought of the heart of a man.
27:7
Sicut rusticatio de ligno ostendit fructum illius, sic verbum ex cogitatu cordis hominis.
未聽人言談之前,不要稱讚他,因為這正是試驗人的方法。
Praise no man before you hear him reason; For this is the trial of men.
27:8
Ante sermonem non laudes virum : hæc enim tentatio est hominum.
你若追求公義,必能得著她,並將她如榮耀的長袍穿上。
If you follow righteousness, you will obtain her, And put her on, as a long robe of glory.
27:9
Si sequaris justitiam, apprehendes illam, et indues quasi poderem honoris : et inhabitabis cum ea, et proteget te in sempiternum, et in die agnitionis invenies firmamentum.
飛鳥棲於同類之中,真理也歸向實行它的人。
Birds will resort to their like; And truth will return to those who practise her.
27:10
Volatilia ad sibi similia conveniunt : et veritas ad eos qui operantur illam revertetur.
獅子埋伏等候獵物,照樣,罪也埋伏等候作惡的人。
The lion lies in wait for prey; So does sin for those who work iniquity.
27:11
Leo venationi insidiatur semper : sic peccata operantibus iniquitates.
敬虔人的言談常是智慧,愚人卻如月亮般變幻不定。
The discourse of a godly man is always wisdom: But the foolish man changes as the moon.
27:12
Homo sanctus in sapientia manet sicut sol : nam stultus sicut luna mutatur.
在無見識的人中間,要留心把握時機;在思慮周詳的人中間,卻要常常逗留。
Among men void of understanding observe the opportunity; But stay continually among the thoughtful.
27:13
In medio insensatorum serva verbum tempori : in medio autem cogitantium assiduus esto.
愚人的言談令人生厭,他們的嬉笑出於放縱的罪。
The discourse of fools is an offence; And their laughter is in the wantonness of sin.
27:14
Narratio peccantium odiosa, et risus illorum in deliciis peccati.
好起誓之人的言語使人毛髮直豎,他們的爭鬧使人塞耳不聽。
The talk of a man of many oaths will make the hair stand upright; And their strife makes one stop his ears.
27:15
Loquela multum jurans horripilationem capiti statuet, et irreverentia ipsius obturatio aurium.
驕傲人的爭鬥導致流血,他們彼此的辱罵令人不堪入耳。
The strife of the proud is a shedding of blood; And their reviling of each other is a grievous thing to hear.
27:16
Effusio sanguinis in rixa superborum, et maledictio illorum auditus gravis.
洩露祕密的人毀了信任,必尋不著合他心意的朋友。
He that reveals secrets destroys credit, And will not find a friend to his mind.
27:17
Qui denudat arcana amici fidem perdit, et non inveniet amicum ad animum suum.
要愛護朋友,向他守信;你若洩露了他的祕密,就不要再追隨他。
Love a friend, and keep faith with him: But if you reveal his secrets, You shall not pursue after him;
27:18
Dilige proximum, et conjungere fide cum illo.
正如人喪失了死去的親人,你也照樣喪失了與鄰舍的友誼。
For as a man has destroyed his enemy, So have you destroyed the friendship of your neighbor.
27:19
Quod si denudaveris absconsa illius, non persequeris post eum.
又如你放走了手中的飛鳥,你也照樣放走了鄰舍,再也捉不回他。
And as a bird which you have loosed out of your hand, So have you let your neighbor go, and you will not catch him again:
27:20
Sicut enim homo qui perdit amicum suum, sic et qui perdit amicitiam proximi sui.
不要追趕他,因為他已遠去,如同羚羊脫離了網羅。
Pursue him not, for he is gone far away, And has escaped as a gazelle out of the snare.
27:21
Et sicut qui dimittit avem de manu sua, sic dereliquisti proximum tuum, et non eum capies.
因為傷口可以包紮,辱罵之後仍有復和;惟有洩露祕密的人,已經斷絕了指望。
For a wound may be bound up, and after reviling there may be a reconcilement; But he that reveals secrets has lost hope.
27:22
Non illum sequaris, quoniam longe abest : effugit enim quasi caprea de laqueo, quoniam vulnerata est anima ejus :
以眼示意的人謀劃惡事,無人能使他停止。
One that winks with the eye contriveth evil things; And no man will remove him from it.
27:23
ultra eum non poteris colligare. Et maledicti est concordatio :
當你在場時,他口出甜言,並讚賞你的話語;後來卻扭曲他的口,並在你的言語上設下絆腳石。
When you are present, he will speak sweetly, And will admire your words; But afterward he will writhe his mouth, And set a trap for you in your words.
27:24
denudare autem amici mysteria, desperatio est animæ infelicis.
我憎惡許多事,卻沒有一樣像憎惡他;主也必憎惡他。
I have hated many things, but nothing like him; And the Lord will hate him.
27:25
Annuens oculo fabricat iniqua, et nemo eum abjiciet.
向高處扔石頭的,是扔在自己頭上;詭詐的擊打必裂開傷口。
One that casts a stone on high casts it on his own head; And a deceitful stroke will open wounds.
27:26
In conspectu oculorum tuorum condulcabit os suum, et super sermones tuos admirabitur : novissime autem pervertet os suum, et in verbis tuis dabit scandalum.
挖坑的,自己必掉在其中;設網羅的,自己必被纏住。
He that digs a pit will fall into it; And he that sets a snare will be taken therein.
27:27
Multa odivi, et non coæquavi ei, et Dominus odiet illum.
行惡事的,惡事必滾回到他身上,他卻不知道是從何而來。
He that does evil things, they will roll upon him, And he will not know whence they have come to him.
27:28
Qui in altum mittit lapidem, super caput ejus cadet : et plaga dolosa dolosi dividet vulnera.
譏誚與辱罵出自狂傲的人,報應卻如獅子埋伏等候他。
Mockery and reproach are from the haughty; And vengeance, as a lion, will lie in wait for him.
27:29
Et qui foveam fodit incidet in eam : et qui statuit lapidem proximo offendet in eo : et qui laqueum alii ponit, peribit in illo.
那因敬虔人傾倒而歡喜的人必落在網羅中,痛苦必在他們死前吞滅他們。
They that rejoice at the fall of the godly will be taken in a snare; And anguish will consume them before they die.
27:30
Facienti nequissimum consilium, super ipsum devolvetur, et non agnoscet unde adveniat illi.
惱恨與忿怒也都是可憎的,罪人卻被它們所轄制。
Wrath and anger, these also are abominations; And a sinful man will possess them.
