15:1
Respondens autem Eliphaz Themanites, dixit :
提幔人以利法回答說:
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered,
15:2
Numquid sapiens respondebit quasi in ventum loquens, et implebit ardore stomachum suum ?
智慧人豈可用虛空的知識回答, 用東風充滿肚腹呢?
“Should a wise man answer with vain knowledge, and fill himself with the east wind?
15:3
Arguis verbis eum qui non est aequalis tibi, et loqueris quod tibi non expedit.
他豈可用無益的話 和無濟於事的言語理論呢?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches with which he can do no good?
15:4
Quantum in te est, evacuasti timorem, et tulisti preces coram Deo.
你是廢棄敬畏的意, 在上帝面前阻止敬虔的心。
Yes, you do away with fear, and hinder devotion before God.
15:5
Docuit enim iniquitas tua os tuum, et imitaris linguam blasphemantium.
你的罪孽指教你的口; 你選用詭詐人的舌頭。
For your iniquity teaches your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
15:6
Condemnabit te os tuum, et non ego : et labia tua respondebunt tibi.
你自己的口定你有罪,並非是我; 你自己的嘴見證你的不是。
Your own mouth condemns you, and not I. Yes, your own lips testify against you.
15:7
Numquid primus homo tu natus es, et ante colles formatus ?
你豈是頭一個被生的人嗎? 你受造在諸山之先嗎?
“Are you the first man who was born? Or were you brought out before the hills?
15:8
numquid consilium Dei audisti, et inferior te erit ejus sapientia ?
你曾聽見上帝的密旨嗎? 你還將智慧獨自得盡嗎?
Have you heard the secret counsel of God? Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
15:9
Quid nosti quod ignoremus ? quid intelligis quod nesciamus ?
你知道甚麼是我們不知道的呢? 你明白甚麼是我們不明白的呢?
What do you know that we don’t know? What do you understand which is not in us?
15:10
Et senes et antiqui sunt in nobis, multo vetustiores quam patres tui.
我們這裏有白髮的和年紀老邁的, 比你父親還老。
With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than your father.
15:11
Numquid grande est ut consoletur te Deus ? sed verba tua prava hoc prohibent.
上帝用溫和的話安慰你, 你以為太小嗎?
Are the consolations of God too small for you, even the word that is gentle toward you?
15:12
Quid te elevat cor tuum, et quasi magna cogitans attonitos habes oculos ?
你的心為何將你逼去? 你的眼為何冒出火星,
Why does your heart carry you away? Why do your eyes flash,
15:13
Quid tumet contra Deum spiritus tuus, ut proferas de ore tuo hujuscemodi sermones ?
使你的靈反對上帝, 也任你的口發這言語?
that you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?
15:14
Quid est homo ut immaculatus sit, et ut justus appareat natus de muliere ?
人是甚麼,竟算為潔淨呢? 婦人所生的是甚麼,竟算為義呢?
What is man, that he should be clean? What is he who is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15:15
Ecce inter sanctos ejus nemo immutabilis, et caeli non sunt mundi in conspectu ejus.
上帝不信靠他的眾聖者; 在他眼前,天也不潔淨,
Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones. Yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight;
15:16
Quanto magis abominabilis et inutilis homo, qui bibit quasi aquam iniquitatem ?
何況那污穢可憎、 喝罪孽如水的世人呢!
how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water!
15:17
Ostendam tibi : audi me : quod vidi, narrabo tibi.
我指示你,你要聽; 我要述說所看見的,
“I will show you, listen to me; that which I have seen I will declare
15:18
Sapientes confitentur, et non abscondunt patres suos :
就是智慧人從列祖所受, 傳說而不隱瞞的。 (
(which wise men have told by their fathers, and have not hidden it;
15:19
quibus solis data est terra, et non transivit alienus per eos.
這地惟獨賜給他們, 並沒有外人從他們中間經過。)
to whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them):
15:20
Cunctis diebus suis impius superbit, et numerus annorum incertus est tyrannidis ejus.
惡人一生之日劬勞痛苦; 強暴人一生的年數也是如此。
the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
15:21
Sonitus terroris semper in auribus illius : et cum pax sit, ille semper insidias suspicatur.
驚嚇的聲音常在他耳中; 在平安時,搶奪的必臨到他那裏。
A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.
15:22
Non credit quod reverti possit de tenebris ad lucem, circumspectans undique gladium.
他不信自己能從黑暗中轉回; 他被刀劍等候。
He doesn’t believe that he will return out of darkness. He is waited for by the sword.
15:23
Cum se moverit ad quaerendum panem, novit quod paratus sit in manu ejus tenebrarum dies.
他漂流在外求食,說:哪裏有食物呢? 他知道黑暗的日子在他手邊預備好了。
He wanders abroad for bread, saying, ‘Where is it?’ He knows that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
15:24
Terrebit eum tribulatio, et angustia vallabit eum, sicut regem qui praeparatur ad praelium.
急難困苦叫他害怕, 而且勝了他,好像君王預備上陣一樣。
Distress and anguish make him afraid. They prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
15:25
Tetendit enim adversus Deum manum suam, et contra Omnipotentem roboratus est.
他伸手攻擊上帝, 以驕傲攻擊全能者,
Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against the Almighty,
15:26
Cucurrit adversus eum erecto collo, et pingui cervice armatus est.
挺着頸項, 用盾牌的厚凸面向全能者直闖;
he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers,
15:27
Operuit faciem ejus crassitudo, et de lateribus ejus arvina dependet.
是因他的臉蒙上脂油, 腰積成肥肉。
because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.
15:28
Habitavit in civitatibus desolatis, et in domibus desertis, quae in tumulos sunt redactae.
他曾住在荒涼城邑, 無人居住、將成亂堆的房屋。
He has lived in desolate cities, in houses which no one inhabited, which were ready to become heaps.
15:29
Non ditabitur, nec perseverabit substantia ejus, nec mittet in terra radicem suam.
他不得富足,財物不得常存, 產業在地上也不加增。
He will not be rich, neither will his substance continue, neither will their possessions be extended on the earth.
15:30
Non recedet de tenebris : ramos ejus arefaciet flamma, et auferetur spiritu oris sui.
他不得出離黑暗。 火焰要將他的枝子燒乾; 因上帝口中的氣,他要滅亡 。
He will not depart out of darkness. The flame will dry up his branches. He will go away by the breath of God’s mouth.
15:31
Non credet, frustra errore deceptus, quod aliquo pretio redimendus sit.
他不用倚靠虛假欺哄自己, 因虛假必成為他的報應。
Let him not trust in emptiness, deceiving himself, for emptiness will be his reward.
15:32
Antequam dies ejus impleantur peribit, et manus ejus arescent.
他的日期未到之先,這事必成就; 他的枝子不得青綠。
It will be accomplished before his time. His branch will not be green.
15:33
Laedetur quasi vinea in primo flore botrus ejus, et quasi oliva projiciens florem suum.
他必像葡萄樹的葡萄,未熟而落; 又像橄欖樹的花,一開而謝。
He will shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and will cast off his flower as the olive tree.
15:34
Congregatio enim hypocritae sterilis, et ignis devorabit tabernacula eorum qui munera libenter accipiunt.
原來不敬虔之輩必無生育; 受賄賂之人的帳棚必被火燒。
For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
15:35
Concepit dolorem, et peperit iniquitatem, et uterus ejus praeparat dolos.
他們所懷的是毒害,所生的是罪孽; 心裏所預備的是詭詐。
They conceive mischief and produce iniquity. Their heart prepares deceit.”
