創世記 第 35 章

And God said to Jacob: Arise, go up to the place Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.

And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him: Put away the foreign gods that are among you from your midst, and cleanse yourselves and change your garments.

And let us arise and go up to Bethel, and let us make an altar there to the God who listened to me in the day of affliction, who was with me and saved me in the way in which I walked.

And they gave to Jacob the foreign gods that were in their hands and the earrings that were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth that is in Shechem, and he destroyed them until this day.

And Israel departed from Shechem, and the fear of God came upon the cities round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Israel.

And Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, which is Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.

And he built an altar there, and called the name of the place Bethel; for there God appeared to him when he fled from the face of Esau his brother.

And Deborah the nurse of Rebecca died below Bethel under the oak; and Jacob called its name Oak of Mourning.

And God appeared to Jacob again in Luz, when he came from Mesopotamia of Syria, and God blessed him.

And God said to him: Your name is Jacob; you shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.

And God said to him: I am your God; increase and multiply. Nations and assemblies of nations shall be from you, and kings shall come out of your loins.

And the land which I gave to Abraham and to Isaac, to you I have given it; it shall be yours, and to your seed after you I will give this land.

And God went up from him, from the place where he spoke with him.

And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he spoke with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured out a drink offering upon it, and poured oil upon it.

And Jacob called the name of the place in which God spoke with him there, Bethel.

And Jacob set out from Bethel and pitched his tent beyond the tower of Gader. And it came to pass, when he drew near to Chabratha to come to the land of Ephratha, that Rachel gave birth and had hard labour in her childbearing.

And it came to pass, while she was giving birth with difficulty, that the midwife said to her: Take courage, for this one also is a son for you.

And it came to pass, as she was giving up her soul, for she was dying, that she called his name Son of my pain; but his father called him Benjamin.

So Rachel died, and was buried on the way to Ephratha; this is Bethlehem.

And Jacob set up a pillar upon her tomb; this is the pillar of the tomb of Rachel until this day.

And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Balla the concubine of his father; and Israel heard of it, and it appeared evil before him. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

The sons of Leah: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob, Symeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zabulon.

And the sons of Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin.

And the sons of Balla, the maidservant of Rachel: Dan and Nephthali.

And the sons of Zelpha, the maidservant of Leah: Gad and Aser. These are the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Mesopotamia of Syria.

And Jacob came to Isaac his father at Mambre, to the city of the plain; this is Hebron in the land of Canaan, where Abraham and Isaac had sojourned.

And the days of Isaac which he lived were a hundred and eighty years.

And failing, he died and was added to his kindred, old and full of days; and Esau and Jacob his sons buried him.
