31:1

ወበሠርቀ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ነገረ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ለኵሉ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብል ፡ ንጹሑ ፡ ወወልጡ ፡ አልባሲክሙ ፡ ወተንሢአነ ፡ ንዕርግ ፡ ቤቴል ፡ በኀበ ፡ ጸለይኩ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ጸሎተ ፡ አመ ፡ ዕለተ ፡ ጐየይኩ ፡ እምገጸ ፡ ዔሳው ፡ እኁየ ፡ ዘውእቱ ፡ ምስሌየ ፡ ወሜጠኒ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ምድር ፡ በሰላም ፡ ወአሰስሉ ፡ አማልክተ ፡ ነኪር ፡ እለ ፡ ማእከሌክሙ ።

在月朔，雅各對他全家的人說：「你們要潔淨，更換衣服，我們起身上伯特利去，到我從前向主許願禱告之處，就是在我逃避我兄弟以掃那日；那時主與我同在，平平安安領我回到這地。你們也要把你們中間外邦的神除掉。」

And on the new moon of the month Jacob spoke to all the people of his house, saying, Purify yourselves and change your garments, and let us arise and go up to Bethel, where I made a vow to him on the day I fled from before Esau my brother, because he has been with me and brought me back into this land in peace; and put away the foreign gods that are among you.

31:2

ወመሰውዎሙ ፡ ለአማልክተ ፡ ነኪር ፡ ወዘውስተ ፡ እዘኒሆሙ ፡ ወዘውስተ ፡ ክሳውዲሆሙ ፡ ወጣዖተ ፡ ዘሰረቀት ፡ ራሔል ፡ እምኀበ ፡ ላባ ፡ አቡሃ ፡ ወወሀበት ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወአውዐዮ ፡ ወጸተሞ ፡ ወአማስኖ ፡ ወኀብኦ ፡ ታሕተ ፡ ድርዮስ ፡ ዘሀሎ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ሰቂሞን ።

他們就交出外邦的神，並他們耳上和頸上所戴的，又有拉結從她父親拉班那裏偷來的偶像，都交給雅各。雅各把它們燒了、砸碎、毀壞，藏在示劍地的一棵橡樹底下。

And they gave up the strange gods and that which was in their ears and which was †on their necks,† 3 and the idols which Rachel stole from Laban her brother she gave wholly to Jacob. And he burnt and brake them to pieces and destroyed them, and hid them under an oak which is in the land of Shechem.

31:3

ወዐርገ ፡ አመ ፡ ሠርቀ ፡ ወርኅ ፡ ሳብዕ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቴሌ ፡ ወሐነጸ ፡ ምሥዋዐ ፡ ውስተ ፡ መካን ፡ ኀበ ፡ ኖመ ፡ ህየ ፡ ወአቀመ ፡ ህየ ፡ ሐውልተ ።

他在第七月月朔上到伯特利，在他從前住宿之處築了一座壇，又在那裏立了一根柱子，並打發人去請他父親以撒和母親利百加來赴他的祭。

And he went up on the new moon of the seventh month to Bethel. And he built an altar at the place where he had slept, and he set up a pillar there, and he sent word to his father Isaac to come to him to his sacrifice, and to his mother Rebecca. [paragraph continues ]

31:4

ወይቤ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ ይምጻእ ፡ ወልድየ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ወእርአዮ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ እሙት ።

以撒說：「願我兒雅各前來，使我在死前得見他。」

And Isaac said: "Let my son Jacob come, and let me see him before I die. "

31:5

ወሖረ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ ወኀበ ፡ እሙ ፡ ርብቃ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቤቱ ፡ ለአቡሁ ፡ አብርሃም ፡ ወክልኤተ ፡ እምውሉዱ ፡ ነሥአ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ሌዊሃ ፡ ወይሁዳሃ ፡ ወመጽአ ፡ ኀበ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ ወኀበ ፡ እሙ ፡ ርብቃ ።

雅各往他父親以撒和母親利百加那裏去，到他祖父亞伯拉罕的家。他帶了兩個兒子，就是利未和猶大同去，來到他父親以撒和母親利百加那裏。

And Jacob went to his father Isaac and to his mother Rebecca, to the house of his father Abraham, 2 and he took two of his sons with him, Levi and Judah, and he came to his father Isaac and to his mother Rebecca.

31:6

ወወፅአት ፡ ርብቃ ፡ እማኅፈድ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አንቀጸ ፡ ማኅፈድ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትስዐሞ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወትሕቅፎ ።

利百加從樓中出來，到樓門前要與雅各親嘴擁抱他。

And Rebecca came forth from the tower to the front of it to kiss Jacob and embrace him; for her spirit had revived when she heard: "Behold Jacob thy son hath come "; and she kissed him.

31:7

ወርእየት ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ ውሉዶ ።

她看見他的兩個兒子，就認得他們，對他說：「我兒，這是你的兒子嗎？」便擁抱他們、與他們親嘴，給他們祝福，說：「亞伯拉罕的後裔必因你們得著榮耀，你們必在地上成為祝福。」

And she saw his two sons, and she recognised them, and said unto him: "Are these thy sons, my son? " and she embraced them and kissed them, and blessed them, saying: "In you shall the seed of Abraham become illustrious, and ye will prove a blessing on the earth. "

31:8

ወቦአ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጽርሑ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ይሰክብ ፡ ህየ ።

雅各進到他父親以撒躺臥的內室，他兩個兒子與他同進；他拿住父親的手，俯身與他親嘴；以撒便摟著他兒子雅各的頸項，伏在他頸項上哭了。

And Jacob went in to Isaac his father, to the chamber where he lay, and his two sons were with him, and he took the hand of his father, and stooping down he kissed him, and Isaac clung to the neck of Jacob his son, and wept upon his neck.

31:9

ወጽላሌ ፡ ኀለፈ ፡ እምአዕይንተ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ ወርእየ ፡ ክልኤሆሙ ፡ ውሉዶ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ሌዊሃ ፡ ወይሁዳሃ ።

以撒眼前的昏暗離開了，他看見雅各的兩個兒子利未和猶大。

And the darkness left the eyes of Isaac, and he saw the two sons of Jacob, Levi and Judah, and he said: "Are these thy sons, my son? for they are like thee. "
