37:1

ወበዕለተ ፡ ሞተ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ አቡሁ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወለዔሳው ፡ ሰምዑ ፡ ውሉደ ፡ ዔሳው ፡ ከመ ፡ ወሀቦ ፡ ይስሐቅ ፡ ልህቃነ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወልዱ ፡ ዘይንእስ ።

以撒去世那日，以掃的眾子聽見以撒把長子的名分給了他小兒子雅各。

And on the day Isaac the father of Jacob and Esau died, the sons of Esau heard that Isaac had given the rights of the elder to Jacob his younger son,

37:2

ወተጋአዙ ፡ ምስለ ፡ አቡሆሙ ፡ እንዘ ፡ ይብሉ ፡ በእንተ ፡ ምንት ፡ እንዘ ፡ ሀሎከ ፡ አንተ ፡ ዘትልህቅ ፡ ወእንዘ ፡ ይንእስ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ ወሀቦ ፡ አቡከ ፡ ልህቃነ ፡ ወኪያከ ፡ ኀደገ ።

他們與父親爭執說：「你既是長者，雅各是幼者，你父親為甚麼把長子的份給了雅各，越過了你呢？」

And they strove with their father, saying: "Why hath thy father given Jacob the portion of the elder and passed over thee, although thou art the elder and Jacob the younger? "

37:3

ወይቤሎሙ ፡ እስመ ፡ አነ ፡ ሤጥኩ ፡ ቅድመተ ፡ ልደትየ ፡ ለያዕቆብ ፡ በኅዳጥ ፡ ጸብሐ ፡ ብርስን ።

他對他們說：「因為我為了一點紅豆湯，把我長子的名分賣給了雅各。」

And he said unto them "Because I sold my birthright to Jacob for a small mess of lentils; and on the day my father sent me to hunt and catch and bring him something that he should eat and bless me, he came with guile and brought my father food and drink, and my father blessed him and put me under his hand.

37:4

ወይእዜኒ ፡ አምሐለነ ፡ አቡነ ፡ ኪያየ ፡ ወኪያሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢንትኃሠሥ ፡ በእከይ ፡ አሐዱ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ነሀሉ ፡ በተፋቅሮ ፡ ወበሰላም ፡ ብእሲ ፡ ምስለ ፡ እኁሁ ፡ ወኢናማስን ፡ ፍናዊነ ፡ 5 ወይቤልዎ ፡ ኢንሰምዐከ ፡ ለገቢር ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ሰላመ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀይለ ፡ ዚአነ ፡ ይጸንዕ ፡ እምኀይሉ ፡ ወንሕነ ፡ ንጸንዕ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ነሐውር ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ወንቀትሎ ፡ ወናሐጕል ፡ ውሉዶ ፡ ወለእመ ፡ ኢተሐውር ፡ ምስሌነ ፡ ለከሂ ፡ ናሐስም ።

「如今我們父親叫我和他起了誓，叫我們不可彼此圖謀惡事，乃要彼此相愛和睦，不可敗壞我們的道路。」他們對他說：「我們不聽你的，不與他和睦，因為我們的力量強過他的力量，我們比他強盛；我們要去攻打他、殺他、滅他的兒女；你若不與我們同去，我們連你也要加害。」

And now our father hath caused us to swear, me and him, that we shall not mutually devise evil, either against his brother, and that we shall continue in love and in peace each with his brother and not make our ways corrupt. "

37:6

ወይእዜኒ ፡ ስምዐነ ፡ ወንፈኑ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አራም ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ፍልስጥኤም ፡ ወውስተ ፡ ሞአብ ፡ ወውስተ ፡ አሞን ፡ ወንኅረይ ፡ ለርእስነ ፡ ኅሩያነ ፡ ሰብአ ፡ እለ ፡ ይዳለጉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቀትል ፡ ወንሖር ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ወንትቃተል ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ወንሠርዎ ፡ እምድር ፡ እንበለ ፡ የአኀዝ ፡ ኀይለ ።

「如今你聽我們的，我們要打發人往亞蘭、非利士、摩押和亞捫去，為自己揀選那些勇於爭戰的精兵，我們去攻打他、與他爭戰，趁他未強盛之先把他從地上剷除。」

And now hearken unto us: Let us send to Aram 3 and Philistia 4 and Moab and Ammon, 1 and let us choose for ourselves chosen men who are ardent for battle, and let us go against him and do battle with him, and let us exterminate him from the earth before he groweth strong. "

37:7

ወይቤሎሙ ፡ አቡሆሙ ፡ ኢትሖሩ ፡ ወኢትግበሩ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ፀብአ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢትደቁ ፡ ቅድሜሁ ።

他們的父親對他們說：「你們不可去，不可與他爭戰，免得你們在他面前仆倒。」

And their father said unto them, "Do not go and do not make war with him lest ye fall before him. "

37:8

ወይቤልዎ ፡ ዝኑ ፡ ክመ ፡ ግብርከ ፡ ዘእምውርዙትከ ፡ እስከ ፡ ዛቲ ፡ ዕለት ፡ ወአንተ ፡ ታበውእ ፡ ክሳደከ ፡ ታሕተ ፡ አርዑቱ ፡ ኢንሰምዕ ፡ ንሕነሰ ፡ ዘንተ ፡ ነገረ ።

他們對他說：「這正是你從幼年到今日的行事方式，你把頸項放在他的軛下；我們卻不聽這話。」

And they said unto him, "This too, is exactly thy mode of action from thy youth until this day, and thou art putting thy neck under his yoke. We shall not hearken to these words. "

37:9

ወፈነዉ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አራም ፡ ወኀበ ፡ አዱራም ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዐርከ ፡ አቡሆሙ ፡ ወተዓሰቡ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ ዐሠርተ ፡ ምእተ ፡ መስተባእሳነ ፡ ዕደወ ፡ ወስተቃትላነ ፡ ኅሩያነ ።

他們便打發人往亞蘭，到他們父親的朋友亞都蘭那裏，與他們一同僱了一千個善戰的人，就是精選的鬥士。

And they sent to Aram, and to ’Adurâm 2 to the friend of their father, and they hired along with them one thousand fighting men, chosen men of war.
