42:1

ወበቀዳሚ ፡ ዓመት ፡ ዘሱባዔ ፡ ሣልስ ፡ ዘአርብዓ ፡ ወኀምስቱ ፡ ኢዮቤልው ፡ አኀዘ ፡ ዐባር ፡ ይምጻእ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ምድር ፡ ወአበየ ፡ ዝናም ፡ ተውህቦ ፡ ለምድር ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦ ፡ ምንተኒ ፡ ዘይወርድ ፡ 2 ወዐብረት ፡ ምድር ።

在第四十五個禧年第三個七年的頭一年，饑荒開始臨到那地，雨不降在地上，因為毫無雨水降下，地就荒旱了。

And in the first year of the third week of the forty-fifth jubilee, famine began to come upon the land, and the rain refused to be given to the land, for there was nothing that came down. And the land was barren.

42:3

ወመጽኡ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ከመ ፡ የሀቦሙ ፡ ሲሲተ ፡ ወከሠተ ፡ መዛግብተ ፡ ኀበ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ ሥርናይ ፡ ዘቀዳሚ ፡ ዓመት ፡ ወሤጠ ፡ ለአሕዛበ ፡ ምድር ፡ በወርቅ ።

埃及人來到約瑟那裏求他給他們糧食；他便打開存有頭一年五穀的倉，賣糧給那地的人，換取金子。

And the Egyptians came to Joseph that he might give them food, and he opened the storehouses where was the grain of the first year, and he sold it to the people of the land for gold.

42:4

ወሰምዐ ፡ ያዕቆብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ሲሲተ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወፈነወ ፡ ዐሠርተ ፡ ደቆ ፡ ከመ ፡ ይንሥኡ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ሲሲተ ፡ በግብጽ ፡ ወብንያምሃሰ ፡ ኢፈነወ ።

雅各聽見埃及有糧，就打發他十個兒子去為他在埃及買糧，惟有便雅憫他沒有打發去。

(Now the famine was very sore in the land of Canaan), and Jacob heard that there was food in Egypt, and he sent his ten sons that they should procure food for him in Egypt; but Benjamin he did not send, and the ten sons of Jacob) arrived (in Egypt) among those that went (there).

42:5

ወአእመሮ ፡ ዮሴፍ ፡ ወእሙንቱሰ ፡ ኢያእመርዎ ።

約瑟認得他們，他們卻不認得他。

And Joseph recognized them, but they did not recognize him, and he spake unto them and questioned them, and he said unto them: "Are ye not spies, and have ye not come to explore the approaches of the land? " And he put them in ward.

42:6

ወእምዝ ፡ ፈትሖሙ ፡ ወአቀመ ፡ ስምዖንሃ ፡ ባሕቲቶ ፡ ወተስዐተ ፡ አኀዊሁ ፡ ፈነወ ፡ 7 ወመልአ ፡ አሕስሊሆሙ ፡ ሥርናየ ፡ ወወርቆሙሂ ፡ ወደየ ፡ ሎሙ ፡ ውስተ ፡ አሕስሊሆሙ ፡ ወኢያእመሩ ።

此後他釋放了他們，單把西緬扣留，打發他九個弟兄回去。他把他們的袋裝滿五穀，又把他們的銀子放回他們各人的袋裏，他們卻不知道。

And after that he set them free again, and detained Simeon alone and sent off his nine brothers.

42:8

ወአዘዞሙ ፡ ከመ ፡ ያምጽኡ ፡ እኅዋሆሙ ፡ ዘይንእስ ፡ እስመ ፡ ነገርዎ ፡ ከመ ፡ ሀሎ ፡ አቡሆሙ ፡ ሕያው ፡ ወእኁሆሙ ፡ ዘይንእስ ።

他吩咐他們把他們的小兄弟帶來，因為他們告訴他，他們父親還活著，並有個小兄弟。

And he commanded them to bring their younger brother, for they had told him their father was living and their younger brother.

42:9

ወዐርጉ ፡ እምድረ ፡ ግብጽ ፡ ወበጽሑ ፡ ምድረ ፡ ከናአን ፡ ወነገሩ ፡ ለአቡሆሙ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ ዘከመ ፡ ረከቦሙ ፡ ወእፎ ፡ ተናገረ ፡ ምስሌሆሙ ፡ መኰንነ ፡ ብሔር ፡ ዐጸብጺበ ፡ ወአኀዞ ፡ ለስምዖን ፡ እስከ ፡ ሶበ ፡ ያመጽእዎ ፡ ለብንያም ።

他們從埃及地上去，到了迦南地，把所遇見的一切告訴他們父親，並那地的首領怎樣向他們說嚴厲的話，又怎樣扣留西緬，直到他們把便雅憫帶去。

And they went up from the land of Egypt and they came to the land of Canaan; and they told their father all that had befallen them, and how the lord of the country had spoken roughly to them, and had seized Simeon till they should bring Benjamin.
