And He brought you forth out of nothingness that you might do His will and walk in His commandment and fear His judgment; even as you are angry with your servants and have authority over them, so over you also there is One who is angry with you and has authority over you.
Even as you smite without mercy those who commit a fault, so over you also there is the Lord who will smite you and cast you into the judgment where there is no escape for ever.
And even as you desire that men should fear you, why do you not fear the Lord your God? For He it is who created you and made you king over all His works, that you might shepherd His people and His flock in righteousness.
And show no partiality to the person of the great or the small, but judge in righteousness and uprightness, even as the Lord has set you over them. Whom shall you fear save Him? Keep His ways and His commandment.
And turn aside neither to the right hand nor to the left, even as Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying to them, I have set before you fire and water; stretch out your hand to whichever you desire.
And hear the word of Him who has established it for you, that you may hear His voice and do His commandment; and do not say, There is a ford of the river; who shall bring it to me, that I may see and hear His word and do the commandment of the Lord?
And if you say again, Who shall go up for me into heaven and bring down to me that word, the word of the Lord, that I may hear it and do it? then He says, Behold, the word is near to you, in your mouth, and behold, it is in your hand.
And if you do not hear the scripture, you have not heard the Lord your God; and if you do not keep My word, I do not love you, nor will I make you keep His commandment.
And you shall enter into everlasting judgment, because you have not loved His commandment nor done the will of Him who exalted you and honoured you above all your people, that you might shepherd them in your righteousness.
And He made you head and chief over all His people, while you remember the name of your God who created you and gave you charge to judge the people in righteousness and uprightness.
And of those who do wrong against you, in that which you reprove and in that which you teach, remember the way of the Lord, and make good your understanding, and judge in uprightness.
And when men contend before you, show no partiality to any person, and take no bribe from a man to favour him, nor to wrong an innocent man; for the whole earth is yours.
And if you have done good, you shall dwell in the dwelling of the good kings, in the houses of light; but if you have done evil, you shall dwell in the dwelling of the evil kings; and the Lord shall not be ashamed to take away your honour.
And as for you, when you behold the greatness of your majesty and the splendour of your hosts and your weapons of war hung up, and when you look upon your horses and the army that is under your hand, and those who blow the trumpet and make music with the harp before you;
and as for you, when you see all this, you exalt your mind and stiffen your neck, and you do not remember Him who gave you all this honour. Is it not so, that when He says to you, Forsake it, you too shall be forsaken,
And there too He shall seek you out and reckon with you and judge you; for death comes upon you suddenly, and at the resurrection there shall be judgment, and the deeds of men shall be examined.
And for the kings of the earth there shall be none to honour them, and the crown of the counsel of the governors of the earth shall fall; for rich and poor stand together in judgment and trial, because He is a Judge of uprightness.
in the day of the resurrection of the dead; for the earth gives back the wombs that were entrusted to it, even as a woman cannot keep her womb shut when she has reached the time of birth, and that which is in her belly is ready to come forth.
And can the clouds withhold the rain, that they should not pour it forth where the Lord has commanded them, that they should not come down? So neither is it possible that the dead should not rise when the time of the resurrection has come; for the word of the Lord brought all things forth out of nothing, and the word of the Lord brought all down into the depths.
And again the word of the Lord brings all forth out of the depths; even as Moses said, Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.
Behold then, it is made known that by the word of the Lord the dead shall live.
And again He said in the second law, concerning those who shall be kings and governors and who do their own will: With an evil judgment I will take vengeance on them, and at the time their foot shall slip; for the day of their reckoning is near.
Thus says the Lord concerning the kings and governors who have not kept His commandment: Keep My law and My ordinance, that you may enter into My everlasting kingdom; for the kingdom that is upon the earth is passing, and it removes from morning to evening.
