出埃及記 第 34 章

And the Lord said to Moses: Hew for yourself two stone tablets, like the first ones, and come up to me on the mountain; and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you shattered.

And be ready by the morning, and you shall go up to Mount Sina, and shall stand there for me on the top of the mountain.

And let no one go up with you, nor let anyone be seen anywhere on the mountain; and let the sheep and the oxen not graze near that mountain.

And he hewed two stone tablets, just as the first ones; and Moses rose early and went up to Mount Sina, as the Lord commanded him; and Moses took the two stone tablets.

And the Lord came down in a cloud and stood beside him there, and he called by the name of the Lord.

And the Lord passed by before his face and called out: The Lord God, compassionate and merciful, long-suffering and abounding in mercy and true,

and preserving righteousness and doing mercy to thousands, taking away lawless deeds and injustices and sins; and he will by no means acquit the guilty, bringing the lawless deeds of fathers upon children and upon children's children, to the third and fourth generation.

And Moses made haste, bowed to the ground, and worshipped.

And he said: If I have found favour before you, let my Lord go along with us; for the people is stiff-necked. And you shall take away our sins and our lawless deeds, and we shall be yours.

And the Lord said to Moses: Behold, I establish a covenant for you. Before all your people I will do glorious things, such as have not happened in all the earth and among any nation; and all the people among whom you are shall see the works of the Lord, that the things which I will do for you are marvellous.

Give heed, you, to all that I command you. Behold, I drive out before your face the Amorite and Chananite and Chettite and Pherezite and Heuite and Gergesite and Jebusite.

Take heed to yourself, lest you ever make a covenant with those who dwell on the land into which you are entering, lest it become a stumbling block among you.

You shall tear down their altars and break their pillars and cut down their sacred groves, and burn the carved images of their gods with fire.

For you shall by no means worship another god; for the Lord God, Jealous is his name; he is a jealous God.

Lest you make a covenant with those who dwell among the foreigners in the land, and they go whoring after their gods and sacrifice to their gods, and they call you and you eat of their sacrifices;

and you take of their daughters for your sons, and give of your daughters to their sons, and your daughters go whoring after their gods, and they make your sons go whoring after their gods.

And you shall not make for yourself molten gods.

And you shall keep the feast of unleavened bread: seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, just as I have commanded you, at the appointed time in the month of the new grain; for in the month of the new grain you came out of Egypt.

Everything that opens the womb is mine, the males: the firstborn of a calf and the firstborn of a sheep.

And the firstborn of a beast of burden you shall redeem with a sheep; but if you do not redeem it, you shall pay its price. Every firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. You shall not appear before me empty.

Six days you shall work, but on the seventh you shall rest; at sowing and at reaping you shall rest.

And you shall keep for me the feast of weeks, the beginning of the wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering in the middle of the year.

Three times in the year every male of yours shall appear before the Lord, the God of Israel.

For when I drive out the nations before your face and widen your borders, no one shall covet your land when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.

You shall not slaughter the blood of my incense offerings upon leaven; and the sacrifices of the feast of the Pascha shall not remain overnight till the morning.

The firstfruits of your land you shall put into the house of the Lord your God. You shall not offer a lamb in its mother's milk.

And the Lord said to Moses: Write for yourself these words; for on the basis of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.

And Moses was there before the Lord forty days and forty nights; he ate no bread and drank no water. And he wrote these words on the tablets of the covenant, the ten words.

And as Moses was coming down from the mountain, the two tablets were upon Moses' hands; and as he was coming down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the appearance of the skin of his face had been glorified while he spoke with him.

And Aaron and all the elders of Israel saw Moses, and the appearance of the skin of his face was glorified, and they were afraid to come near him.

And Moses called them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation turned back to him, and Moses spoke to them.

And after this all the sons of Israel came to him, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken to him on Mount Sina.

And when he ceased speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.

And whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would take off the veil until he went out; and going out he would speak to all the sons of Israel whatever the Lord commanded him.

And the sons of Israel saw the face of Moses, that it had been glorified; and Moses would put the veil over his own face until he went in to converse with him.
