22:1
ከመ ፡ እብነ ፡ ጾላዕ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ሃካይ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ነበረ ፡ ወያፀርዕ ፡ ኵሎ ፡ በኀሳረ ፡ ሀኬቱ ።
A slothful man is compared to a stone that is defiled; And every one will hiss him out in his disgrace.
懶惰的人好比被污穢之物玷污的石頭,眾人都要因他的可恥而嗤笑他。
22:2
ከመ ፡ ፅፍዕ ፡ ግዱፍ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ሀካይ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ሰከበ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘቀተሎ ፡ ነገፈ ፡ እዴሁ ።
A slothful man is compared to the filth of a dunghill: Every man that takes it up will shake out his hand.
懶惰的人好比糞堆的污穢,凡撿起它的人都要把手甩開。
22:3
ኀፍረት ፡ ለአቡ [ሁ ]፡ውሉድ ፡ አብድ ፡ ወወለትሰ ፡ አብድ ፡ ኅስርተ ፡ ትከውን ።
A father has shame in having begotten an uninstructed son; And a foolish daughter is born to his loss.
生養無學識之子的父親要蒙羞辱,生個愚昧的女兒更使他受虧損。
22:4
ወወለትሰ ፡ ጠባብ ፡ ትወርሶ ፡ ለምታ ፡ ወእንተሰ ፡ ታስተኃፍር ፡ ሐዘን ፡ ይእቲ ፡ ለወላዲሃ ።
A prudent daughter will inherit a husband of her own; And she that brings shame is the grief of her father.
明智的女兒必為自己得著丈夫為業,使人蒙羞的女兒卻成為生她之人的憂愁。
22:5
ወበኵለሄ ፡ ተሐረምት ፡ ምክዕቢተ ፡ ታስተኃፍር ፡ አባሃኒ ፡ ወታስተኀፍር ፡ ምታኒ ፡ ዝልፍት ።
She that is bold brings shame upon father and husband; And she will be despised of them both.
放肆的女兒使父親與丈夫蒙羞,必被二者所輕看。
22:6
ከመ ፡ ዘይሰነቁ ፡ በቤተ ፡ ላሕ ፡ ዘይነግር ፡ ቃሎ ፡ በኀበ ፡ ረከበ ፡ መቅሠፍት ፡ ወተግሣጽ ፡ በኵለሄ ፡ ያጠብብ ።
Unseasonable discourse is as music in mourning; But stripes and correction are wisdom at every season.
不合時宜的言談如同居喪時的音樂,責打與管教卻在任何時候都是智慧。
22:7
ከመ ፡ ዘያስተጣብቅ ፡ አግዕልተ ፡ ዘይሜህሮ ፡ ለአብድ ፡ አንቅሆ ፡ እምዐቢይ ፡ ንዋም ፡ ለዘይነውም ።
He that teaches a fool is as one that glues a potsherd together; Even as one that wakes a sleeper out of a deep sleep.
教導愚人的,如同黏合破碎的瓦片,又如喚醒酣睡之人。
22:8
(ከማሁ ፡)ዘይነግሮ ፡ ለአብድ ፡ ከመ ፡ ዘይነግሮ ፡ ለድቁስ ፡ ወሶበ ፡ አኅለቀ ፡ ነጊሮቶ ፡ ይብለከ ፡ ምንተ ፡ ትቤ ።
He that discourseth to a fool is as one discoursing to a man that slumbereth; And at the end he will say, What is it?
向不聽的人講論話語的,如同向沉睡之人傳講;到末了他必說:『這是什麼?』
22:11
ብክዮ ፡ ለዘሞተ ፡ እስመ ፡ ኀለፈ ፡ ብርሃኑ ፡ ወብክዮ ፡ ለአብድ ፡ እስመ ፡ አምሠጦ ፡ ልቡ ። ርቱዕ ፡ ትብክዮ ፡ ለዘሞተ ፡ እስመ ፡ አልቦ ፡ ምግባአ ፡ ወለአብድሰ ፡ ብክዮ ፡ በሕይወቱ ፡ እስመ ፡ ሐይው ፡ የአክዮ ፡ እምነ ፡ መዊት ።
Weep for the dead, for light has failed him; And weep for a fool, for understanding has failed him: Weep more sweetly for the dead, because he has found rest; But the life of the fool is worse than death.
要為死人哀哭,因為光已離開他;要為愚人哀哭,因為見識已離開他。為死人哀哭倒更甘心,因為他已得安息;愚人的生命卻比死亡更糟。
22:13
ኢታብዝኅ ፡ ተናግሮ ፡ ምስለ ፡ አብድ ፡ ወኢትሖር ፡ ምስለ ፡ ዘአልቦ ፡ ልብ ። ወተዐቀብ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢያብእከ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ጻሕብ ፡ ወከመ ፡ አትትሐየስ ፡ አንተ ፡ በእበደ ፡ ዚአሁ ። ረሐቀ ፡ እምኔሁ ፡ ወተዐርፍ ፡ ነፍስከ ፡(ወይቀልለከ )፤ ወአልቦ ፡ ዘትት [ነከይ ]፡አንተ ፡ በእበደ ፡ ዚአሁ ።
Talk not much with a foolish man, And go not to one that has no understanding: Beware of him, lest you have trouble; And so you shall not be defiled in his onslaught: Turn away from him, and you will find rest; And so you shall not be wearied in his madness.
不要與愚人多言,也不要與無見識的人來往;要防備他,免得你受累,也免得你在他的攪擾中被玷污;要躲開他,你就得安息,不致因他的瘋狂而厭煩。
22:14
ምንተ ፡ ይከብድ ፡ እምነ ፡ ዐረር ፡ ወምንተ ፡ ስሙ ፡ ዘእንበለ ፡ አብድ ።
What shall be heavier than lead? And what is the name thereof, but a fool?
有什麼比鉛更重?除了愚人,它還能叫什麼名字呢?
22:15
ይኄይስ ፡ ትጾር ፡ ኆጻ ፡ ወፄወ ፡ ወዘብርታተ ፡ ኀጺን ፡ እምትንበር ፡ ምስለ ፡ አብድ ።
Sand, and salt, and a mass of iron, is easier to bear, Than a man without understanding.
沙、鹽和一塊鐵,背負起來都比擔當無見識的人容易。
22:16
መሠንየ ፡ ማእሰር ፡ ዘእሱር ፡ ውስተ ፡ ቅጽረ ፡ ንድቅ ፡ ወኢይትፈታሕ ፡ ለእመኒ ፡ አድለቅለቀ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ምክረ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ውስተ ፡ ልበ ፡ ጽኑዕ ።
Timber girded and bound into a building will not be loosed with shaking: So a heart established in due season on well advised counsel will not be afraid.
釘牢在建築中的木架,地震時也不致鬆脫;照樣,立定在深思熟慮之謀略上的心,到時候也必不膽怯。
22:17
ወኢይትፈታሕ ፡ ቅጽሩ ፡ ለዝላፉ ፡ ለልብ ፡ ጽኑዕ ፡ ወለምክረ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ወከመ ፡ መርገ ፡ ኆጻ ፡ በውስተ ፡ አረፍት ።
A heart settled upon a thoughtful understanding Is as an ornament of plaister on a polished wall.
安立在思想悟性上的心,如同磨光牆上灰泥的妝飾。
22:18
ወከመ ፡ ሐሠር ፡ ቅድመ ፡ ዐውሎ ፡ ዘኢይቀውም ፡ እምከመ ፡ መጽአ ፡ ነፋስ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ኅሊና ፡ አብድ ፡ በውስተ ፡ ልበ ፡ ፈራህ ፡ ዘኢይቀውም ፡ ለእምከመ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ዘገረሞ ።
Pales set on a high place will not stand against the wind: So a fearful heart in the imagination of a fool will not stand against any fear.
高處迎風而立的籬樁必經不起風吹;照樣,立在愚人空想上的怯懦之心,遇任何恐懼也站立不住。
22:19
ዘደጐጸ ፡ ዐይኖ ፡ ያወርድ ፡ አንብዐ ፡ ወዘደጐጸ ፡ ልቦ ፡ ያርኢ ፡ ጥበበ ።
He that pricks the eye will make tears to fall; And he that pricks the heart makes it to show feeling.
刺人眼睛的必使淚流下,刺人內心的必顯出真情。
22:20
ዘወገሮን ፡ ለአዕዋፍ ፡ ይሰዶን ፡ ወዘይዘረክዮ ፡ ለዐርኩ ፡ ሰዐረ ፡ ታእኃሁ ።
Whoso casts a stone at birds frays them away; And he that upbraids a friend will dissolve friendship.
向飛鳥扔石頭的必把牠們嚇跑,責罵朋友的必斷絕友誼。
22:21
እመኒ ፡ መላኅከ ፡ መጥባሕተ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ ዐርክከ ።
If you have drawn a sword against a friend, despair not; For there may be a returning.
你若曾向朋友拔刀,也不要絕望,因為仍有和好的可能。
22:22
ወእመኒ ፡ አዕበይከ ፡ አፉከ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ኢትቅበጾ ፡ በከመ ፡ ይትዓረከከ ። እንበለ ፡ ዳእሙ ፡ ለእመ ፡ ዘርከይካሁ ፡ ወአዕበይከ ፡ አፉከ ፡ ላዕሌሁ ፡ ወጸዐልካሁ ፡ ወለእመኒ ፡ ከሠትከ ፡ ሎቱ ፡ ምክሮ ፡ ወተጓሕለውካሁ ፡ ወአሕመምካሁ ፡ በዝንቱ ፡ ነገር ፡ ይጐይይ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዐርክ ።
If you have opened your mouth against a friend, fear not; For there may be a reconciling; Except it be for upbraiding, and arrogance, and disclosing of a secret, and a treacherous blow: For these things every friend will flee.
你若曾向朋友張口斥責,也不要害怕,因為仍有復和的可能;惟有辱罵、狂傲、洩露祕密與詭詐的暗算,遇這些事,凡朋友都要走避。
22:23
ለእመኒ ፡ ነዳይ ፡ አንተ ፡ ሃይማኖተከ ፡ ዕቀብ ፡ ምስለ ፡ ቢጽከ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትፈሣሕ ፡ አመ ፡ ትፍሥሕቱ ። ለእመኒ ፡ ተጸነሰ ፡ ተዐገሥ ፡ ምስሌሁ ፡ ከመ ፡ ትትፈሣሕ ፡ አመ ፡ ይረክብ ፡ ርስቶ ፡ ምስሌሁ ።
Gain trust with your neighbor in his poverty, That in his prosperity you may have gladness: Abide stedfast to him in the time of his affliction, That you may be heir with him in his inheritance.
當在鄰舍貧窮時與他建立信任,好叫你也能一同分享他的福分;當在他患難之時恆久與他同在,好叫你能與他同承基業。
22:24
ለእሳትኒ ፡ ይቀድም ፡ ይጠይስ ፡ ተነ ፡ ጢሱ ፡ ከማሁ ፡ ለደምኒ ፡ ይቀድም ፡ ላኳ ፡ ወጋእዝ ።
Before fire is the vapor and smoke of a furnace; So revilings before bloodshed.
火起之前先有爐中的蒸氣與煙;照樣,流血之前先有辱罵。
22:25
ሰውሮቶ ፡ ለዐርክየ ፡ ኢየኀፍር ፡ ወኢይትኀባእኒ ፡ እምቅድመ ፡ ገጹ ።
I will not be ashamed to shelter a friend; And I will not hide myself from his face:
我必不以遮蔽朋友為羞,也不從他面前隱藏自己。
22:26
ወአእመሰ ፡ እኪት ፡ ትረክበኒ ፡ በእንቲአሁ ፡ ኵሉ ፡ ዘሰምዐ ፡ የዐቅብ ፡ ርእሶ ፡ እምኔሁ ።
And if any evil happen to me because of him, Every one that hears it will beware of him.
我若因他遭遇災禍,凡聽見的人都必防備他。
22:27
መኑ ፡ ይሠይም ፡ ሊተ ፡ ዐቃቤ ፡ ላዕለ ፡ አፉየ ፡ ወማኅተመ ፡ ጥበብ ፡ ዲበ ፡ ከናፍርየ ፡ ከመ ፡ ኢይደቅ ፡ ቦቱ ፡ ወከመ ፡ ኢይቅትለኒ ፡ ልሳንየ ።
Who shall set a watch over my mouth, And a seal of shrewdness upon my lips, That I fall not from it, and that my tongue destroy me not?
誰能在我口上設立守衛,在我嘴脣上加上精明的封印,使我不致因此失足,免得我的舌頭毀滅我?
