5-11:11
Ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς ἡ τοῦ πατρὸς σοφία καταβέβηκεν εἰς τὴν ἄβυσσον καὶ καταβὰς οὐ κεκράτηται. ἄβυσσος οὖν εἶπεν· Οὐκ ἔστιν ἐν ἐμοί, ἔστιν γὰρ ἐν οὐρανῷ. καὶ θάλασσα εἶπεν· Οὐκ ἔστι μετ' ἐμοῦ. αὕτη ἡ θάλασσα ὁ τῶν ἀνθρώπων βίος, ἐν ᾧ τὰ περὶ τὴν ἀρετὴν ναυάγια. ἐὰν οὖν θέλῃς, ἴνα μετὰ σοῦ ἡ σοφία ᾐ, κἂν ᾖς ἐπὶ θαλάσσης πάτει τὰ κύματα, ἐπίδος σου τὴν χεῖρα τῇ σοφίᾳ, καὶ ποιήσει σε περιπατεῖν ἐπάνω τῶν κυμάτων
Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of the Father, descended into the abyss, and having descended was not held fast by it. Now the abyss said: 'It is not in me, for it is in heaven'; and the sea said: 'It is not with me.' This sea is the life of men, in which are the shipwrecks that concern virtue. If, then, you wish that Wisdom may be with you, even though you be upon the sea, walk upon the waves: stretch out your hand to Wisdom, and she will make you walk upon the waves.
我們的主耶穌基督，就是父的智慧，降到深淵，而降下之後並未被深淵所拘。深淵說：「智慧不在我裡面，乃在天上」；海也說：「智慧不在我這裡。」這海就是人的生命，其中有許多關乎美德的覆舟之事。所以，你若願意智慧與你同在，縱然你身在海上，也當行在波浪之上：將你的手伸給智慧，她就必使你行走在波浪之上。
