Μὴ γάρ τις ἐννοείτω, φησίν, ὡς εἰς τέλος ὑπερτιθέμενος διαμένει θεὸς τὰς κατὰ τῶν ἀδίκων τιμωρίας, εἰ καὶ τέως μακροθυμῇ, ἀλλ' ωσπερ οἱ ἐνεδρεύοντες, οὕτως ἀδοκήτως αὐτοῖς ἐπέρχεται· καὶ οὐκ ἔστι τινὰ τῶν ἀσεβῶν τὴν θείαν διαδρᾶναι δίκην
Let no one suppose, he says, that God remains forever putting off the punishments against the unrighteous, even if for a while He is long-suffering; but, like those who lie in ambush, so He comes upon them unexpectedly; and there is none of the impious who can escape the divine justice.
他說,不要有人以為神是永遠拖延那向不義之人施行的刑罰,縱然祂暫時恆久忍耐;倒不如說,祂如同那些設下埋伏的,這樣出其不意地臨到他們;並且不敬虔之人中,沒有一個能逃脫那神聖的公義。
