Μεθόδιος ὁ Σίδης εἰς τὸν Χριστὸν ἐκλαμβάνει, καὶ φησίν· Αὐτοῦ ἄκουε λέγοντος· ἐγὼ δέ εἰμι σκώληξ καὶ οὐκ ἄνθρωπος. σκώληκα οὖν λέγει, οὐ διὰ κακίαν, ἀλλὰ διὰ τὴν ταπεινοφροσύνην ἢ καὶ ὅτι φησὶν ὁ σκώληξ οὐκ ἐκ συνδυασμοῦ γίνεται, ἀλλ ἐκ παρακειμένης ὕλης
Methodius of Side understands this of Christ, and says: Hear him as he speaks: 'But I am a worm and no man.' He calls himself a worm, not on account of any baseness, but because of his humility; or also because, as he says, the worm does not come to be from any sexual union, but arises from the matter that lies at hand.
西得的梅鐸丟將這話解作論到基督，他說：你聽他如此說：「但我是蟲，不是人。」他稱自己為蟲，並非因為有甚麼卑劣，而是因為他的謙卑；又或是因為，如他所說，蟲不是由交合而生，乃是從旁邊現成的質料而出。
