Nullus te singularem alloquatur, nec tu præter duarum aut trium testimonium alloquaris aliquem singularem. Memento sponsi tui Salvatoris nostri, qui certe non verebatur labem peccandi, attamen in montibus cum Moyse et Elia coram tribus, Petro et Jacobo et Joanne, locutus est testibus. Sic et cum susciiaret archisynagogi filiam, eos adhibuit testes, ut falsi rumoris non d iret occasionem. Mirabantur autem et discipuli, quod ad puteum Jacob loqueretur cum muliere. Et revera non mirarentur, nisi quid viderent iuusitatum; et nisi illi abiissent cibos emere, non loqueretor citra eos Christus cum muliere.
Let no one speak with you alone, nor do you speak with anyone alone apart from the testimony of two or three. Remember your Bridegroom, our Savior, who certainly did not fear the stain of sinning, yet upon the mountains spoke with Moses and Elijah before three witnesses, Peter and James and John. So also, when He raised the daughter of the ruler of the synagogue, He employed these as witnesses, that He might give no occasion for false rumor. The disciples too marveled that He spoke with a woman at Jacob's well. And in truth they would not have marveled, unless they had seen something unusual; and unless they had gone away to buy food, Christ would not have spoken with the woman apart from them.
不可有人單獨與你交談，你也不可在沒有兩三個見證的情況下單獨與任何人交談。要記念你的新郎、我們的救主，祂固然不怕犯罪的污點，卻仍在山上當著彼得、雅各、約翰三個見證人面前與摩西和以利亞說話。照樣，當祂叫管會堂者的女兒復活時，也用這些人作見證，免得給虛假的謠言留下機會。門徒也希奇祂竟與一個婦人在雅各井旁說話。實在，他們若不是見了不尋常之事，便不會希奇；他們若不是去買食物，基督便不會撇開他們與那婦人說話。
