42:1

እንበይነ፡ ዝንቱሰ፡ ባሕቱ፡ ኢትኅፈር፡ ወኢታድልው፡ ለገጸ፡ ሰብእ፡ ከመ፡ ጌጋየ፡ ኢይኩንከ።

對這些事，你不要羞愧，也不要因徇情面而犯罪：

Of these things be not ashamed, And accept no man’s person to sin thereby:

42:2

በእንተ፡ ሕጉ፡ ለልዑል፡ ወበእንተ፡ ሕርመትከ፡ ወበእንተ፡ ፍትሕኒ፡ ከመ፡ ኢታንጽሖ፡ ለጊጉይ።

不可因至高者的律法和祂的約而羞愧，也不可因公正審判、向不敬虔者施行公義而羞愧；

Of the law of the Most High, and his covenant; And of judgement to do justice to the ungodly;

42:3

ወሶበኒ፡ ትትሓሰብ፡ ምስለ፡ ሱታፌከ፡ በእንተ፡ ተግባርከ፡ በእንተኒ፡ ሤጥ፡ ወበእንተኒ፡ ርስትከ።

不可因與夥伴和同行的人算帳而羞愧，也不可因從朋友的產業中分予人禮物而羞愧；

Of reckoning with a partner and with travellers; And of a gift from the heritage of friends;

42:4

በእንተ፡ መዳልውኒ፡ ወበእንተ፡ መስፈርት፡ ወእንበይነ፡ ጥሪትከ፡ እመኒ፡ ውኁድ፡ ወእመኒ፡ ብዙኅ።

不可因校準天平砝碼而羞愧，也不可因所得的多寡而羞愧；

Of exactness of balance and weights; And of getting much or little;

42:5

በእንተ፡ ኵሉ፡ ዘይረብሐከ፡ ወዘይበቊዐከ፡ በእንተ፡ ምህሮቶሙ፡ ለውሉድከ፡ ለገብር፡ እኩይ፡ ሥትሮ፡ ገበዋቲሁ።

不可因商人各樣的買賣而羞愧，也不可因嚴加管教兒女而羞愧，又不可因鞭打惡僕至血流而羞愧。

Of indifferent selling of merchants; And of much correction of children; And of making the side of an evil servant to bleed.

42:6

ሠናይ፡ ኀቲም፡ ላዕለ፡ ብእሲት፡ እኪት፡ ወኀበ፡ ብዙኅ፡ በዋኢቱ፡ በመዝግሕ፡ አንብር።

家有惡妻，妥善看守乃是好的；人手眾多之處，要把東西鎖好。

Sure keeping is good, where an evil wife is; And where many hands are, shut you close.

42:7

ኵሎ፡ ዘገበርከ፡ በኈልቊ፡ ወበመስፈርት፡ ወበመዳልው፡ ግበር፡ ወኵሉ፡ ዘአባእከ፡ ወአውፃእከ፡ ወዘወሀብከ፡ ወነሣእከ፡ በመጽሐፍ፡ ይኩንከ።

凡你所交付的，都要按數目和重量；凡有授受，都要記在帳上。

Whatsoever you handest over, let it be by number and weight; And in giving and receiving let all be in writing.

42:8

ወበእንተ፡ ገሥጾቱ፡ ለአብድ፡ ወለዘ፡ አልቦ፡ ልብ፡ ወለአረጋዊኒ፡ ዘበርሥአቱ፡ ይተሉ፡ ዝሙት፡ ወትከውን፡ በአማን፡ ጠቢበ፡ ወማእምረ፡ በኀበ፡ ኵሉ፡ ሰብእ።

不要因管教無知愚昧的人，並指正那與年輕人爭辯、極其衰老的人而羞愧；這樣你就真有見識，在凡活著的人面前蒙人認可。

Be not ashamed to instruct the unwise and foolish, And one of extreme old age that contends with those that are young; And so shall you be well instructed indeed, And approved in the sight of every man living.

42:9

ወለትሰ፡ ትጋህ፡ ኅቡእ፡ ይእቲ፡ ለአቡሃ፡ ወኀልዮታ፡ ያሰርሮ፡ ለንዋሙ፡ እምንእሳ፡ እስከ፡ አመ፡ ትልኅቅ፡ እንበለ፡ ትፍተው።

女兒是父親暗中失眠的緣由，為她憂慮使父親睡不著覺：在她年幼時，怕她錯過青春年華；既已出嫁，又怕她被丈夫厭棄；

A daughter is a secret cause of wakefulness to a father; And the care for her puts away sleep; In her youth, lest she pass the flower of her age; And when she is married, lest she should be hated:
