And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried beside his fathers in the city of David; and Joram his son reigned in his place.

And he had brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat, six: Azarias and Iiel and Zacharias and Azarias and Michael and Saphatias; all these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Judah.

And their father gave them many gifts — silver and gold and arms, together with walled cities in Judah; but the kingdom he gave to Joram, for he was the firstborn.

And Joram rose up over his kingdom and grew strong, and he killed all his brothers with the sword, and some of the princes of Israel.

Joram was thirty-two years old when he was established over his kingdom, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab did, for a daughter of Ahab was his wife; and he did what was evil before the Lord.

And the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant which he made with David, and as he had said to him, to give him a lamp, and to his sons, all the days.

In those days Edom revolted from Judah, and they made a king over themselves.

And Joram went with the princes, and all the cavalry with him; and it came to pass that he rose by night and struck Edom that was surrounding him, and the captains of the chariots; and the people fled to their tents.

So Edom revolted from Judah to this day. Then Lomna also revolted at that time from under his hand, because he forsook the Lord the God of his fathers.

For he also made high places in the cities of Judah, and he caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, and led Judah astray.

And a writing came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, "Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: Because you have not walked in the way of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

and you walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and you made Judah and those dwelling in Jerusalem play the harlot, as the house of Ahab played the harlot; and your brothers, the sons of your father, who were better than you, you killed.

Behold, the Lord will strike you with a great plague among your people, and among your sons, and among your wives, and in all your goods.

And you yourself shall be in a grievous sickness, in a disease of the bowels, until your bowels come out with the sickness, from days to days.

And the Lord stirred up against Joram the Philistines and the Arabs and those who border on the Ethiopians.

And they went up against Judah and oppressed them, and they carried off all the goods that they found in the king's house, and his sons and his daughters; and there was left to him no son except Ochozias the youngest of his sons.

And after all these things the Lord struck him in the bowels with a sickness in which there is no healing.

And it came to pass from days to days, and when the time of the days came, two days, his bowels came out with the disease, and he died in a grievous sickness. And his people did not make him a funeral such as the funeral of his fathers.

He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem; and he walked in no praise, and he was buried in the city of David, and not in the tombs of the kings.
