And it happened after twenty years, in which Solomon built the house of the Lord and his own house,

that the cities which Hiram gave to Solomon, Solomon built them, and he settled the sons of Israel there.

And Solomon came to Hamath Zoba and prevailed against it.

And he built Thedmor in the wilderness, and all the fortified cities that he built in Hamath.

And he built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars,

and Baalath, and all the fortified cities that belonged to Solomon, and all the cities of the chariots and the cities of the horsemen, and whatever Solomon desired, according to his desire to build in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all his kingdom.

All the people that were left of the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, who are not of Israel —

they were of their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel did not utterly destroy; and Solomon brought them up for forced labor, to this day.

But of the sons of Israel Solomon did not make servants for his kingdom, for they were men of war and rulers and mighty men and commanders of chariots and horsemen.

And these were the chiefs of the overseers of King Solomon: two hundred and fifty, acting as taskmasters among the people.

And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh from the city of David into the house that he built for her, for he said, 'My wife shall not dwell in the city of David the king of Israel, because the place where the ark of the Lord has entered is holy.'

Then Solomon offered up whole burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar that he had built in front of the temple,

and according to the daily requirement, offering up according to the commandments of Moses, on the sabbaths and at the new moons and at the feasts, three times in the year: at the feast of unleavened bread, and at the feast of weeks, and at the feast of tents.

And he established, according to the judgment of David, the divisions of the priests according to their ministries, and the Levites at their posts, to praise and to minister before the priests according to the daily requirement, and the gatekeepers according to their divisions, gate by gate; for so were the commandments of David the man of God.

They did not depart from the commandments of the king concerning the priests and the Levites in any matter, or concerning the treasuries.

And all the work was prepared from the day the foundation was laid until Solomon completed the house of the Lord.

Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth on the seacoast in the land of Idumea.

And Hiram sent, by the hand of his servants, ships and servants who knew the sea; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Ophir and took from there four hundred and fifty talents of gold and came to King Solomon.
