Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, who trust in horses and in chariots — for they are many — and in horses, a very great multitude; but they were not trusting in the Holy One of Israel, and they did not seek out God.
And he, being wise, was bringing evils upon them, and his word shall by no means be annulled; and he will rise up against the houses of wicked men and against their vain hope.
An Egyptian is a man and not God; horses' flesh, and there is no help. But the Lord will bring his hand upon them, and those who help shall grow weary, and all together they shall perish.
For thus the Lord said to me: Just as when the lion or the lion's cub roars over the prey it has seized, and cries out over it until the mountains are filled with its voice, and they were defeated and terrified at the greatness of its rage — so shall the Lord Sabaoth come down to wage war upon Mount Zion, upon her mountains.
And Assour shall fall; not a man's sword, nor a human sword shall devour him; and he shall flee, but not from before a sword, and the young men shall be for defeat.
For they shall be surrounded by a rock as by a palisade, and shall be defeated, and the one who flees shall be captured. Thus says the Lord: Blessed is he who has seed in Zion and kinsfolk in Jerusalem.
