Dedit et aliud Julianus vecordiae suae ac levitatis indicium. Nam cum Daphnis in suburbano Antiochiae juxta fontem Castalium litaret Apollini, et nulla ex his quae quaerebat, responsa susciperet, caussasque silentii percontaretur a sacerdotibus daemonis, aiunt, Babylae martyris sepulcrum prope adsistere, et ideo responsa non reddi. Tum ille, venire Galilaeos (hoc enim nomine nostros appellare solitus erat) et auferre sepulcrum martyris jubet. Igitur Ecclesia universa conveniens, matres et viri, virgines, juvenesque immensa exultatione succincti, trahebant longo agmine arcam Martyris, psallentes summis clamoribus, et cum exultatione dicentes:
Julian gave yet another token of his folly and levity. For when at Daphne, in the suburb of Antioch, beside the Castalian spring, he was sacrificing to Apollo, and received none of the responses which he sought, and inquired of the priests of the demon the causes of the silence, they said that the tomb of the martyr Babylas stood near at hand, and that for this reason the responses were not given. Then he ordered that the Galileans (for by this name he was wont to call our people) should come and remove the tomb of the martyr. Therefore the whole Church, gathering together—mothers and men, virgins and youths, girded with immense exultation—drew in a long procession the casket of the Martyr, chanting with the loudest cries, and with exultation saying:
猶利安還顯出他另一樁愚妄與輕浮的表徵。因為當他在安提阿城郊的達夫尼（Daphne），於卡斯塔里亞（Castalian）泉旁向亞波羅獻祭，卻得不著他所求的任何神諭，便向那鬼魔的祭司們查問緘默的緣由，他們說，殉道者巴比拉（Babylas）的墳墓就在近旁，因此神諭不肯降下。那時他便下令，要那些「加利利人」（因他慣以此名稱呼我們的人）前來，將那殉道者的墳墓遷走。於是全教會聚集起來——母親與男子、童女與少年，都以極大的歡騰束腰——排成長長的行列，抬著那殉道者的棺木，以最響亮的呼聲歌唱，並歡躍地說：「

Confundantur omnes qui adorant sculptilia, et qui confidunt in simulacris suis (Psal. 96. 7.). Haec in auribus prophani Principis per sex millia passuum tanta exultatione psallebat omnis Ecclesia, ut coelum clamoribus resultaret. Unde et ille in tantam iracundiae rabiem deductus est, ut altera die comprehendi Christianos passim et trudi juberet in carcerem, ac paenis et cruciatibus affici.
'Let all who worship graven images be confounded, and those who put their trust in their idols' (Psalm 96:7). These words the whole Church chanted for six miles in the hearing of the profane Emperor with such great exultation that heaven echoed back their cries. Whereupon he too was driven into such a fury of wrath that on the following day he ordered Christians everywhere to be seized and thrust into prison, and to be afflicted with punishments and tortures.
