57:1
Yet Theodosius was at hand, on account of his loyalty to the kingdom and mindful of the goodness and benefits of Gratian, and rising up for vengeance with all the forces of the East, he avenged the righteous blood. Valentinian's impious mother also died amid these events; and the catholic faith, which she herself had violated, as well as the kingdom—she being driven out from her tyranny—he restored. And after he himself had been borne into Rome in an illustrious triumph, he returned again to his own realms.
