117:1
Gratum semper est mihi tuam alloqui charitatem, et affectum salutationis exsolvere: quoniam et scio te probabilem et sincerissimae fidei esse custodem,et qui non circumducitur omni vento doctrinæ, aed infundamentoprophetarum et apostolorum,qui Christus est, firme consistere:ut cum venerit filius hominia in Divinitate sua ad purgationem totius mundi,in electione reperiaris frumentum æternitatis,qni dignas thesaurizari possis in horreis.Susceptis itaque litteris per filium meum Parthenium, reciprocam salutationem exsolvens, exhortor tuam beatitudinem, fili charissime,ut non confundaris de Evangelio 1018 generationis Domini Jesu Christi filii David,filii Abraham secundum carnem:
It is always pleasing to me to address your charity, and to discharge the affection of a greeting: since I both know you to be a praiseworthy guardian of a most sincere faith, and one who is not carried about by every wind of doctrine, but stands firmly upon the foundation of the prophets and apostles, which is Christ: so that, when the Son of Man comes in His Divinity for the purgation of the whole world, you may be found in the election the wheat of eternity, who may be worthy to be treasured up in the granaries. Having therefore received your letters through my son Parthenius, discharging a reciprocal greeting, I exhort your blessedness, dearest son, that you be not confounded concerning the Gospel of the generation of the Lord Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham according to the flesh:
向你的愛德致意，並抒發問安之情，這常使我欣喜：因為我既知你是至為真誠之信仰的可讚守護者，又知你不被各樣教理之風搖動，反倒堅固地立於眾先知與眾使徒的根基之上——那根基就是基督：好使當人子在祂的天主性中降臨、潔淨全世界時，你能在蒙選之列被尋見為永恆的麥子，配得被珍藏於倉廩之中。因此，我藉我兒帕特尼烏斯收到你的信之後，回致問安，並勸勉你的至福，至親愛的兒子，切莫因主耶穌基督——按肉身乃達味之子、亞巴郎之子——誕生的福音而覺羞愧：

quoniam haec fides vincit mundum,quando quis credit qnia Christus Jesus est Filius Dei. Si quae vero fidei quaestiones inveniuntur,admonemus ut de his quæad communem utilitatem pertinent latius nobis scribas,libenter suscipientibusqui ista detulerint.
since this faith conquers the world, when one believes that Christ Jesus is the Son of God. But if any questions of faith are found, we admonish you to write to us more fully concerning those things which pertain to the common benefit, we gladly receiving those who shall have brought them.
因為當人相信基督耶穌是天主子時，這信德便勝過世界。但倘若發現任何有關信仰的問題，我們勸勉你就那些關乎共同益處之事，更詳盡地寫信給我們；凡帶來這些信息的人，我們都樂於接納。
