Let us therefore be humble-minded, brothers, laying aside all arrogance and conceit and folly and anger, and let us do that which is written; for the Holy Spirit says: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, nor the strong man in his strength, nor the rich man in his riches; but let him who boasts boast in the Lord, in seeking Him out and doing judgment and righteousness"; above all remembering the words of the Lord Jesus which He spoke when teaching gentleness and longsuffering.
For thus He spoke: "Be merciful, that you may obtain mercy; forgive, that it may be forgiven you; as you do, so shall it be done to you; as you give, so shall it be given to you; as you judge, so shall you be judged; as you show kindness, so shall kindness be shown to you; with what measure you measure, with the same shall it be measured to you."
By this commandment and these injunctions let us establish ourselves, that we may walk in obedience to His holy words, being humble-minded; for the holy word says:
