First Epistle of Clement 21

21:1

Ὁρᾶτε, ἀγαπητοί, μὴ αἱ εὐεργεσίαι αὐτοῦ αἱ πολλαὶ γένωνται εἰς κρίμα ἡμῖν, ἐὰν μὴ ἀξίως αὐτοῦ πολιτευόμενοι τὰ καλὰ καὶ εὐάρεστα ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ ποιῶμεν μεθ̓ ὁμονοίας

Take heed, beloved, lest His many benefits become a judgment to us, if we do not live worthily of Him and do the things that are good and well-pleasing in His sight, in concord.

親愛的，你們要謹慎，免得祂許多的恩惠反成了我們的審判，倘若我們不過著與祂相稱的生活，不和睦同心地行那在祂眼前美善蒙悅的事。

21:2

λέγει γάρ που: Πνεῦμα κυρίου λύχνος ἐρευνῶν τὰ ταμιεῖα τῆς γαστρός:

For it says somewhere: "The Spirit of the Lord is a lamp searching the inmost chambers of the belly."

因為經上有一處說：「主的靈是燈，鑒察人腹中至深之處。」

21:3

ἴδωμεν. πῶς ἐγγύς ἐστιν, καὶ ὅτι οὐδὲν λέληθεν αὐτὸν τῶν ἐννοιῶν ἡμῶν οὐδὲ τῶν διαλογισμῶν ὧν ποιούμεθα:

Let us see how near He is, and that nothing escapes Him of our thoughts or of the reasonings that we make.

讓我們看明祂是何等臨近，又看明我們的心思意念和所作的籌算，沒有一樣能瞞過祂。

21:4

δίκαιον οὖν ἐστὶν μὴ λειποτακτεῖν ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ

It is right, therefore, that we should not desert from His will.

所以我們不離棄祂的旨意，乃是合理的。

21:5

μᾶλλον ἀνθρώποις ἄφροσι καὶ ἀνοήτοις καὶ ἐπαιρομένοις καὶ ἐγκαυχωμένοις ἐν ἀλαζονείᾳ τοῦ λόγου αὐτῶν προσκόψωμεν ἢ τῷ θεῷ

Let us rather give offense to foolish and senseless men, who exalt themselves and boast in the arrogance of their speech, than to God.

我們寧可冒犯那些愚妄無知、自高自大、以言語誇耀的人，也不要冒犯神。

21:6

τὸν κύριον Ἰησοῦν Χριστόν, οὗ τὸ αἷμα ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἐδόθη, ἐντραπῶμεν, τοὺς προηγουμένους ἡμῶν αἰδεσθῶμεν, τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους τιμήσωμεν, τοὺς νέους παιδεύσωμεν τὴν παιδείαν τοῦ φόβου τοῦ θεοῦ, τὰς γυναῖκας ἡμῶν ἐπὶ τὸ ἀγαθὸν διορθωσώμεθα

Let us reverence the Lord Jesus Christ, whose blood was given for us; let us respect those who are set over us; let us honor the elders; let us instruct the young in the discipline of the fear of God; let us guide our wives toward what is good.

我們要敬畏主耶穌基督，祂的血是為我們捨的；我們要尊重那治理我們的人；我們要尊敬眾長老；我們要用敬畏神的教訓管教年輕人；我們要引導我們的妻子歸向善道。

21:7

τὸ ἀξιαγάπητον τῆς ἁγνείας ἦθος ἐνδειξάσθωσαν, τὸ ἀκέραιον τῆς πραΰτητος αὐτῶν βούλημα ἀποδειξάτωσαν, τὸ ἐπιεικὲς τῆς γλώσσης αὐτῶν διὰ τῆς σιγῆς φανερὸν ποιησάτωσαν, τὴν ἀγάπην αὐτῶν μὴ κατὰ προσκλίσεις, ἀλλὰ πᾶσιν τοῖς φοβουμένοις τὸν θεὸν ὁσίως ἴσην παρεχέτωσαν

Let them display the lovely character of purity; let them prove the sincere disposition of their meekness; let them make manifest the gentleness of their tongue through silence; let them give their love not according to partiality, but holily and equally to all who fear God.

願她們顯出貞潔可愛的品格；願她們證實她們溫柔誠摯的心志；願她們藉著靜默顯明舌頭的溫和；願她們施予愛心，不偏待人，乃是聖潔地、均平地待一切敬畏神的人。

21:8

τὰ τέκνα ἡμῶν τῆς ἐν Χριστῷ παιδείας μεταλαμβανέτωσαν: μαθέτωσαν, τί ταπεινοφροσύνη παρὰ θεῷ ἰσχύει, τί ἀγάπη ἁγνὴ παρὰ θεῷ δύναται, πῶς ὁ φόβος αὐτοῦ καλὸς καὶ μέγας καὶ σώζων πάντας τοὺς ἐν αὐτῷ ὁσίως ἀναστρεφομένους ἐν καθαρᾷ διανοίᾳ

Let our children share in the discipline that is in Christ; let them learn how strong humility is before God, what pure love can do before God, how beautiful and great and saving is the fear of Him to all who walk in it holily with a pure mind.

願我們的兒女分享在基督裡的教養；願他們學習謙卑在神面前有何等的能力，純潔的愛在神面前有何等的功效，敬畏祂的心是何等美好偉大，能拯救一切存清潔心思、聖潔行事的人。

21:9

ἐρευνητὴς γάρ ἐστιν ἐννοιῶν καὶ ἐνθυμήσεων: οὗ ἡ πνοὴ αὐτοῦ ἐν ἡμῖν ἐστίν, καὶ ὅταν θέλῃ, ἀνελεῖ αὐτήν

For He is the searcher of thoughts and intents: His breath is in us, and when He wills, He will take it away.

因為祂是鑒察心思意念的；祂的氣息在我們裡面，祂幾時願意，幾時就能收回。
