37:1
Let us therefore serve as soldiers, men and brothers, with all earnestness under His faultless commands.
Let us consider those who serve as soldiers under our commanders, how orderly, how readily, how submissively they execute the orders given them.
Not all are prefects, nor tribunes, nor centurions, nor commanders of fifty, and so on; but each in his own rank executes the orders given by the king and the commanders.
The great cannot exist without the small, nor the small without the great; there is a certain blending in all things, and herein lies their usefulness.
Let us take our own body: the head is nothing without the feet, and so too the feet are nothing without the head; the smallest members of our body are necessary and useful to the whole body; but all the members work together and use one common subjection for the preservation of the whole body.
